Mexico’s governor of Baja California says the US has withdrawn tourist visas from her and her husband.

Dominant Morena Party, Marina del Pilar Avila, posted on social media on Sunday that she and her husband were notified of consul action without specifying the reason for the Trump administration’s decision.

“I totally believe that the situation will be fully revealed for both of us,” Avila said in X.

The Baja California Press Office has confirmed with CNN that Avila’s visa has been withdrawn.

A spokesman for the US embassy told The Associated Press that Visa Records is confidential and details of individual cases cannot be discussed.

The governor’s husband, Carlos Torres, is a politician and active member of the Morena Party, said the revocation of the visa “does not represent accusations, investigations or formal charges by authorities in either Mexico or the United States.”

He said in a Facebook post on Saturday that he “has a clear conscience.”

California’s US and neighboring Baja California see the most pedestrian intersections in Mexico, which is adjacent to the US.

Last Thursday, the governor received a visit from Consul-General of Tijuana, Christopher Thiel, who discussed regional bilateral issues such as security, economic development and human rights.
