The 2025-2026 academic year is approaching soon. This will result in the cost of shopping back to school. According to a survey by coupon site Coupon Bird, parents and teachers are expected to spend significantly more this year than in 2024.

How much do parents spend?

On average, families are firing $774 per child for gear back to school. It’s up 10% from last year’s spending.

What do teachers spend?

Teachers currently fund classroom supply by covering approximately $1,021 a year from their own wallet. This is a noticeable increase from the $915 spent in 2024. To manage these growth costs, 30% of educators are taking on second jobs from 26% the previous year.
