AI will dominate the conversation in 2025, CIOs will shift gears in 2026

Date:

As AI scales, governance becomes more important. In 2026, successful CIOs will build guardrails around every intelligent system. This means building in governance by design from the beginning of deployment, rather than fixing rules after the fact. This includes audit trails, escalation rules, and privacy protocols, all built into the user journey through an intuitive and adaptable framework. Proper escalation and a human-involved model will be essential, along with data management such as where the data is stored, how it can be accessed, and privacy by design.

Governance is not an impediment to progress. It is the basis of trust. Low-code platforms are emerging as powerful enablers of this change. Not only does it speed up development, but it also allows CIOs to embed control directly into the build process. This approach supports the democratization of development, allowing teams to rapidly iterate, improve, and scale without sacrificing oversight.

In other words, compliance cannot be added as an afterthought. Must be included from the beginning. This accelerates delivery while reassuring regulators, customers, and internal teams alike. This shift will allow automation to support human judgment rather than override it, and allow us to build systems that people trust, rather than systems that just work.
