What do Chick-fil-A, KFC, Popeye’s, and Raising Cane’s all have in common? Chicken, chicken, and more chicken. But the real question is, which are the top chicken chains?
A YouGov poll released this month ranked Georgia’s Chick-fil-A as the most popular fried chicken fast-food chain in the United States. The restaurant, known for its Chick-fil-A chicken sandwiches and helpful employees, ranks higher than other restaurants such as KFC, Popeye’s and Raising Cane’s, according to a YouGov poll.
Chick-fil-A took first place, with 25.3% of respondents ranking it as their favorite place to eat fried chicken. KFC was second with 17.9%, Popeyes was third with 16.2%, and Raising Cane’s was fourth with 6.8%.
The poll conducted by YouGov received over 44,000 responses between March 2025 and February 2026.
Five Guys, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell top other categories
Chick-fil-A has established itself as the best fast food restaurant for fried chicken, while Five Guys, Pizza Hut, and Taco Bell have outperformed their competitors in the burger, pizza, and taco categories.
Among burger restaurants, Five Guys took first place with 15.5% of the votes, followed by Burger King in a close second with 15% of the total votes. California staple In-N-Out was a close second with 12.1%, followed by Wendy’s in fourth place with 10.2%.
McDonald’s received 8.7% of the vote.
Pizza Hut ranked first in this category with 19.1%. This was followed by Domino’s Pizza (17.1%), Papa John’s (11.4%), Little Caesars (5.3%), and Marco’s Pizza (4.7%). When it comes to tacos and burritos, Taco Bell comfortably leads the category with 30.3% of the votes, followed by Chipotle in second place with 20.6%.
