Oz Perlman talks about life after White House Correspondents Dinner shooting
Oz Perlman has told how attending an incident at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner “recalibrated” his mind.
Journalists and government officials will gather for a redo of the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner on July 24, three months after the annual event was interrupted by a mass shooting.
A gunman breached security at an April 25 event attended by President Donald Trump and members of his administration. He shot and killed a Secret Service agent in connection with an assassination attempt against President Trump. Authorities have identified the suspected gunman as 31-year-old Cole Thomas Allen, who faces multiple federal charges, including attempted assassination of the U.S. president.
In the wake of the incident, the Correspondents’ Association planned to redo the event, and Trump agreed to attend.
Unlike the April dinner, First Lady Melania Trump, Vice President J.D. Vance, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio will not be able to attend due to scheduling conflicts.

When is the White House Correspondents Dinner?
The rescheduled dinner begins Friday, July 24th at 8:00 PM ET.
Part of the program will also include the presentation of special awards to individuals who assisted during filming at the April dinner, according to the WHCA.
Victor Gonzalez, the Secret Service officer who was shot and killed while wearing a protective vest when a gunman breached security, will receive the President’s Award for Distinguished Service.
Where is the White House Correspondents Dinner held?
The annual dinner has previously been held at the Washington Hilton, but the rescheduled dinner will be held at a smaller venue, the Waldorf Astoria on Pennsylvania Avenue.
The Secret Service announced that it will strengthen security measures at night.
Washington Hilton staff will also be recognized at the event for their work at the April dinner.

Will President Trump attend the White House Correspondents’ Dinner?
Yes, Trump is scheduled to attend a redo of the White House Correspondents Dinner.
He was scheduled to give a speech at the dinner in April, but left before that. He said in a Truth Social post in June that he planned to speak at the second dinner.
“I don’t know if I’ll say something pretty damning similarly, at least when it comes to certain people, but we’ll find out soon. Either way, it’s going to be a ‘hot’ ticket!” he wrote.
