Costco samples boost sales and shoppers’ serotonin
Costco’s free samples draw crowds and members love the snacks, but stations can block aisles and cause chaos.
After nearly two months of testing in select markets, Costco has officially introduced its new chicken tenders menu option to food courts across the country.
The meal, which costs $6.99 per basket, comes with five strips and a dipping sauce, which many influencers have compared to Chick-fil-A’s honey mustard.
Here’s what you need to know about Costco’s new chicken tender meals and what the internet is saying about them.
even more generous amount
Costco has officially rolled out chicken tender meals nationwide after testing them in select markets starting in May.
According to a video circulating online, the meal is a whopping 1,640 calories, comes with five tenders and a large dipping sauce, and costs $6.99.
Costco is famous for its hearty pizzas and hot dogs, and this bid seems to live up to that reputation. In a video posted to Instagram, influencer account Costco Guide said it was “literally” the size of her head.
A large portion of the dipping sauce that social media users are comparing to Chick-fil-A’s is served with the tenders.
Costco Guide says it reminds them of Chick-fil-A’s honey barbecue sauce. Sushi Man, aka Fotogami, envisioned a unique recipe that combines three parts Chick-fil-A honey mustard and one part Chick-fil-A’s eponymous sauce.
From “bomb.com” to “Rare Costco L”
Social media posts from Costco Guide and Fotogami have shown a very mixed reaction, with some saying they can’t wait to try the bid and others claiming it doesn’t live up to the hype.
“Ugh, I want some!!!” one user wrote. “Oh my! I might actually like it,” another person wrote.
One person called the bid “bomb.com,” while another speculated that Costco was targeting “protein-sensitive gym buddies” and admitted it “looks delicious.”
Still, not everyone was impressed.
“Unfortunately, this is a miss. Too dry, too salty…rare Costco L,” said one person. “I ate it today. The first one was very tasty, but the rest were stringy and one was very thick and unpleasant,” said another, adding, “Nothing compares to the (hot) ones.”
Others thought their experience might be a one-off until they started reading other people’s comments. “I thought the stuff at Costco was salty and dry, but looking at the comments it seems like it’s the same everywhere,” they said.
