Stars who missed Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding speak out

Date:

Despite the huge guest list for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelsey’s wedding, many celebrities weren’t among the hundreds who gathered at Madison Square Garden to watch the superstars say “I do.” And some of them decided, “Let’s talk now.”

Days after the couple wed on July 3 in front of Paul McCartney, Jennifer Lopez, Selena Gomez, Tom Brady and Tom Hanks, several stars have publicly admitted that they did not attend the lavish celebration, whether due to conflicts or because they did not receive invitations in the mail.

Those invited to the event included a mix of people associated with Kelsey and Swift, including NFL colleagues and Swift’s musical collaborators. There will also be members of their inner circle and surprise guests including Liam Hemsworth, Tom Cruise and Donald Glover.

But “Star Wars” icon Mark Hamill didn’t get the coveted invitation, he wrote in a cheeky July 5 Instagram post.

“Congratulations to the newlyweds!” Hamill wrote alongside a photo of Kelsea and Swift from their engagement. “I declined to attend the wedding for various personal reasons, but primarily because I was not invited.”

There are other people who couldn’t attend their first wedding in 10 years.

James Taylor performed a concert during Taylor Swift’s wedding

According to the Berkshire Eagle, Swift’s namesake James Taylor told a crowd in western Massachusetts on July 3 that he and his wife, Caroline “Kim” Smedvig, were invited to “a wedding tonight at Madison Square Garden.” But instead, he and his all-star band were giving their annual Fourth of July performance at the Koussevitzky Music Shed in Tanglewood.

According to a video posted on social media, the legendary singer told the crowd, “I wish the couple happiness, smooth sailing, and strength when things aren’t smooth sailing.”

Ryan Seacrest tells Swift and Kelsey he’ll be attending their wedding, forcing him to change his RSVP

Ryan Seacrest had to keep his “secret invitation” a secret from his colleagues on “On Air with Ryan Seacrest.”

On his July 6 radio show, Seacrest revealed that although he initially sent in a positive RSVP, work got in the way of one of Hollywood’s busiest men.

“I responded that I wanted to go, but Disney hired me to do a special for 250 people on the 3rd and 4th of Independence Day, so I had to cancel,” Seacrest said. “It wasn’t for nothing! I was actually really excited. I was a little torn.”

Weeks after announcing his RSVP, the “American Idol” host told co-hosts Sisanee and Tanya Rudd that he confirmed he would attend when he encountered the couple at a restaurant. Then he later rebelled.

“Trust me, Tanya. I read all the minutes, but I couldn’t do both. The actual wedding was in the afternoon,” Seacrest continued. “But I was very honored and very happy to be invited.”

“I had no other choice. It’s part of my job at Disney to do these things,” Seacrest lamented.
