Explore Disney’s affordable All-Star Music Resort
Disney’s All-Star Music Resort is quickly becoming a hidden gem for Disney park goers. Here’s what you can expect during your stay:
If you subscribed to YouTube TV or DirecTV Stream in the past few years, you may be eligible to receive a payout from the Walt Disney Company as part of the $50 million settlement. However, the deadline for filing a claim is rapidly approaching.
The case stems from a 2022 federal class action lawsuit filed by YouTube TV subscribers who claim Disney’s control over popular channels and programming has given the company significant influence over the live TV streaming market.
Disney agreed to settle the lawsuit without admitting liability or wrongdoing.
As the deadline to file claims approaches, here’s what eligible subscribers need to know.
What was the lawsuit alleging?
Disney’s channel distribution agreement with the streamer required the provider to include ESPN in its base package. The parties who filed the lawsuit argued that the agreement gave Disney significant influence over the prices of streaming bundles, limited the ability of competitors to offer lower-cost alternatives, and led to higher prices for consumers.
Disney denied the allegations.
How can I claim my share of the settlement money?
The settlement, which still requires final court approval, will allow eligible consumers to file a claim for a portion of the funds if they paid for YouTube TV or DirecTV Stream between April 1, 2019 and March 31, 2026.
The deadline to file a claim is September 8, 2026. Claims can be submitted online or by mail. To submit by mail, please complete this request form and mail it to Biddle v. Disney, Settlement Administrator, PO Box 4720, Portland, OR 97208-4720.
How much money will I receive from the Disney settlement?
The amount the plaintiffs will receive in the settlement has not yet been determined.
Payments will be distributed following a final approval hearing scheduled for January 14, 2027. If approved, the claimant will be paid a varying amount depending on the subscription period and the total number of claims approved.
