The quarterfinals of the 2026 World Cup are starting to attract attention.
England moved one step closer to winning the World Cup by becoming the latest of the original 48 teams to take part in the World Cup after coming through in an exciting Round of 16 match against Mexico at the Estadio Azteca on Sunday, July 5th.
El Tri joined Norway as the two teams that advanced from Sunday’s round of 16 games, with Erling Haaland and Orjan Nyland contributing two goals each and some great goaltending against Brazil to help Norway reach the quarter-finals for the first time.
The USMNT will look to earn a ticket to their first quarterfinal appearance since 2002 with a win over Belgium on Monday, July 6th at 8pm ET in Seattle. Morocco and France became the first two teams to make it past the round of 16 and advance to the quarterfinals. Morocco defeated Canada 3-0 in Houston on Saturday, July 4, as Kylian Mbappé scored his 19th World Cup goal and France defeated Paraguay’s Park the Bus defense 1-0 for a July 4 victory in Philadelphia.
