History made: 2026 World Cup sets attendance records
The tournament attracted 3,605,357 fans, surpassing the previous attendance record set at the 1994 FIFA World Cup USA.
The final match of the group stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup has produced dramatic moments and unexpected developments, and the knockout matches are quickly taking shape.
This year’s tournament will have an expanded format, with 12 groups competing for a spot in the knockout stages. The top two teams in each group will automatically advance, and the top eight teams in the top three from all groups will also advance.
