President Donald Trump said the Pentagon’s UFO investigation he ordered had “unearthed a lot of very interesting documents” and that “the first public releases will begin very soon.”

President Trump said at a political rally hosted by Turning Point USA and the group’s political arm, Turning Point Action, at Dream City Church in north Phoenix that he saved the revelation for Arizonans because he knew they were “really into it.”

“I’m happy to report today, and I wanted to save it for this crowd, but you’ve all been there a little bit, so I have to say that this process is going well and we’ve uncovered a lot of very interesting documents,” President Trump said. “And the first release will start soon, so check back to see if that’s true.”

In February, President Trump ordered the Department of Defense and other agencies to release government documents related to UFOs. His directive came after former President Barack Obama said on a podcast that he believes aliens exist, even though he has never seen them. But Obama later clarified that his beliefs were based on statistics and that he had never seen the evidence during his administration.

President Trump directed government agencies to release government records related to “aliens, extraterrestrials, unidentified aerial phenomena (UAPs), unidentified flying objects (UFOs), and any other information related to these very complex but very interesting and important issues.”

President Trump said he held off on making the announcement to Arizona because the people of Arizona were so interested, but he didn’t know if he would agree to it.

“I thought this was a good audience because I know you guys are really interested in it. I don’t know if I am,” Trump said, drawing laughter.

“You’ll understand. Please tell me,” he added. “But we had a lot of questions. It’s really fascinating, there’s no question about it.”
