A man became $2 million rich after winning a scratch-off game in Texas.
The Golden Riches ticket was purchased at a Tom Thumb grocery store in Frisco, about 45 miles from Dallas, according to the Texas Lottery.
“This was the first of four top prizes valued at $2 million that will be claimed in this game. Golden Riches will offer more than $181.2 million in total prizes,” a state lottery news release states.
“The overall odds of winning a prize in the game, including the break-even prize, are 1 in 3.76.”
The winner chose to remain anonymous.
Texas is one of the few states that allows winners to remain anonymous
More than a dozen states allow lottery winners to remain anonymous, although some states have different requirements depending on the amount won.
For example, ten states do not require winners to identify themselves in order to claim a prize: Delaware, Kansas, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Jersey, North Dakota, South Carolina, and Wyoming.
However, especially in Texas, the prize must be over $1 million for the winner to remain anonymous.
