A South Dakota company has recalled about 2.3 million pounds of Korean barbecue pork jerky sold at Costco and Sam’s Club due to possible contamination.

More than 2 million pounds of precooked Korean barbecue pork jerky sold at Costco and Sam’s Clubs nationwide has been recalled because it may contain metal debris.
Alpena, South Dakota-based LSI is recalling approximately 2.3 million pounds of its Golden Island Korean Barbecue Recipe flame-grilled pork jerky because it may be contaminated with metal particles, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced on October 24.
According to FSIS, the company announced the recall after complaints from consumers who found wire-like metal pieces in their pork jerky products. LSI told authorities the metal came from a conveyor belt used in manufacturing.
To date, there have been no confirmed reports of injuries from ingesting this product, FSIS said. The agency says people should contact their health care provider if they are concerned about an injury.
Sold in 14.5- and 16-ounce plastic bags, the product has a one-year shelf life and a “best before” date of September 23, 2026, so FSIS is concerned that some consumers may still have this pork jerky in their pantries.
Consumers who have purchased this product should not eat it. Instead, they should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase, the agency said.
What products are subject to the recall?
The recalled Golden Island Korean BBQ Recipe flame-grilled pork jerky was sold in 14.5-ounce and 16-ounce plastic bags and shipped to Costco and Sam’s Club stores nationwide. The product had a “best before” date printed on the side of the package ranging from October 23, 2025 to September 23, 2026. Pork jerky packaging has the establishment number “M279A” inside the USDA inspection mark, and the specific product lot code and expiration date covered by the recall can be found here.
