President Trump says airstrike killed six “narco-terrorists”
President Trump says U.S. forces have killed six “narco-terrorists” in a boat attack off the coast of Venezuela.
WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday ahead of a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy at the White House on October 17, while considering the possibility of the United States supplying Ukraine with Tomahawk missiles.
In an Oct. 16 post on Truth Social, Trump said he was currently meeting with Putin, adding that the meeting would be “long” and that he would “debrief” afterwards.
The call came shortly after President Trump visited the Middle East this week, where he celebrated a ceasefire agreement that ended fighting between Israel and Hamas and secured the release of remaining Israeli hostages from Gaza.
President Trump told reporters on October 12 that he was considering sending long-range Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine in response to increased U.S. military aid.
President Trump said: “We may have to talk to Russia about the Tomahawk. Do they want the Tomahawk to go their way? I don’t think so.” “In all fairness, I think I might talk to Russia about that. I told President Zelenskyy about it, because the Tomahawk is a new phase of aggression.”
“I might say, if this war doesn’t get resolved, we might send them the Tomahawks,” Trump added.
Trump, who has vowed to end Russia and Ukraine within his first 24 hours, has acknowledged that the three-and-a-half year war has become the most difficult international conflict of his presidency.
A face-to-face meeting between President Trump and President Putin was held in Alaska in mid-August, but peace negotiations did not progress as much as President Trump had hoped. A few days later, President Trump met with President Zelenskiy and European leaders at the White House, marking a united diplomatic front after Trump and Zelenskiy’s heated meeting in February.
