Trump gives Hamas the ultimate acceptance of peace proposals
President Donald Trump has announced that he will give him a 6pm deadline on October 5th at 6pm and respond to his proposal to “crowd and be killed” the Israeli-Hamas war.
Hamas has accepted some of President Donald Trump’s peace plans aimed at seeing the release of all remaining Israeli hostages end the war of almost two years in Gaza, but many details and timelines remain unknown.
Hours following Hamas’ October 3 statement, Israel, which asserted that it was “ready to enter negotiations soon,” indicates that Trump is preparing to release hostages while Israel calls for it to halt its enclave bombing campaign.
Hamas’ response included clear agreements with several points of the plan, including the withdrawal of Israeli forces, the end of the battle, and the release of Israeli hostages, but they did not comment on other important points or statements provided that present challenges to some points of the plan;
Israeli campaign levelled the massive strip of Gaza, killing more than 67,000 people, according to the Gaza Health Ministry, a Hamas-controlled government agency. Israel began attacking Gaza on October 7, 2023, October 7, 2023, after a Hamas-led attack on Israel, led by Hamas. According to Israeli tally, around 1,200 people have been killed and 251 have been taken hostage.
The nearly two years of war created a humanitarian crisis, ousting millions and causing international backlash. Several Western countries in recent weeks have come to recognize Palestinian states against the US and Israel.
Trump introduced a 20-point peace proposal with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on September 29th, later giving a 6pm deadline on October 5th, responding to his proposal before threatening him “crowded and killed.” On October 3, Hamas said he agreed to release all living or dead Israeli hostages under the terms of Trump’s 20-point plan, and showed he was ready to quickly enter mediation negotiations to discuss the details.
Here are some things you need to know at the beginning of the Israel-Hamas peace proposal:
What is Trump’s Israel-Hamas Peace Plan?
Under the plan, the war ended and Hamas released all the remaining hostages in Gaza, which were filmed nearly two years ago during the terrorist attacks on Israel.
According to the text of the proposal, Gaza will also be redeveloped with the option of Palestinians wanting to stay in the country. Hamas fighters will get pardon and the territory will come under temporary governance by a new Palestinian commission, which will be overseen by the “Committee of Peace.” Trump personally chaired the panel along with other foreign leaders, including former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.
However, there are still some potential obstacles. Hamas did not address the demands in the Trump plan where the group will disarm, and the October 3 statement did not explicitly address the idea of the future Palestinian state that Israeli leaders thought to have ruled out, or the provision that Hamas has not made any progress in Gaza governance. Hamas said that discussions about Gaza’s future should take place in the context of a “comprehensive Palestinian national framework.”
When talks begin over the implementation of the US plan, Hamas officials told Reuters that “things have not been arranged yet.”
Has Hamas agreed to release all hostages?
Hamas said on October 3 that he agreed to release all living or dead Israeli hostages under the conditions of Trump’s plan, and is ready to discuss details to immediately enter mediation negotiations.
The group said it would release all living or dead Israeli hostages as long as “on-site conditions for exchange are met,” but no details have been made as yet as of what these conditions will involve, or the time frame for releasing the remaining hostages.
Has Israel stopped its bombing campaign in Gaza?
Hours after Hamas agreed to some of the peace plans on October 3rd, Trump called on Israel to immediately halt the Gaza bombing campaign to move forward with the remaining hostages.
“Based on a statement that Hamas just issued, they believe they are ready for lasting peace. Israel must stop the bombing of Gaza soon. Trump said true socially: “Now it’s too dangerous to do that.”
Israeli airstrikes continued early on Saturday, but they weren’t as intense, according to Reuters. Netanyahu’s office said Israel is preparing for the “immediate implementation” of the first phase of its peace plan for the release of Israeli hostages, but no specific timeline has been shared.
Trump’s proposal calls for all hostages to be released within 72 hours of the contract being accepted. Once the hostages are returned, they call on Israel to detain 250 life row inmates and 1,700 Gazan. Hamas fighters who abandon their arms are also given pardons and allowed to leave Gaza under the plan.
In a daily update early October 4th, the Gaza Health Ministry said the Israeli fire has killed at least 66 Palestinians and injured 265 people in the last 24 hours.
