Coca-Cola said bottles of Topocomineal Water shipped to five states were recalled because of the potential for bacterial contamination that could be fatal for people with weakened immune systems.
The recalled product has been removed from 40 retail stores in Arizona, Louisiana, Nevada, New Mexico and Texas, a Coca-Cola spokesperson told USA Today.
Among these affected stores are handpicked Costco locations in Texas and Louisiana. The retailer said on June 2. Costco said the recalled item – 18 packs of glass 16.9 ounces of topomineral water – was purchased from the affected nest between May 20th and May 29th.
Costco added that mineral water was spontaneously recalled by Coca-Cola due to the possibility of contamination by Pseudomonas, a bacteria naturally found in water sources containing mineral water.
