CBC Group is recalling 227,500 children’s stuffed toys containing plastic cubes after authorities received reports that children had swallowed “sharp shards” and the cubes had broken into small pieces.
The recall affects all units of Stephen Baby Boo Bunny and Friends Children’s Toys sold from August 2017 to January 2026, according to an April 30 notice from the Consumer Product Safety Commission. According to the recovered toys, the stuffed animals come with a “removable plastic water cube” that “keeps them cool and comfortable.”
The agency said the recalled toys pose a risk of “serious injuries” including suffocation and lacerations.
Stephen Baby’s warning reads: “Stop using the plastic cubes immediately and keep them out of the reach of children.”
CBC Group Inc., the Phoenix, Arizona-based distributor that initiated the recall, did not immediately respond to USA TODAY’s request for comment.
