Tuesday, May 19th is Pennsylvania’s primary election, with elections ranging from governor to county commissioner, depending on the municipality, being held throughout the day.

When is the 2026 Allegheny County primary election? What time does voting start?
Mr. Allegheny’s primary election was Tuesday, May 19ththe voting deadline is 8pm. The general election will be held on the Tuesday, November 3rd.
How do I know if I’m registered to vote in Allegheny County?
You can check your voter registration status on the Pennsylvania Department of State website. To find your status on the website, search for your name or use your driver’s license number or PennDOT ID.
Even if your status is listed as inactive, you can still vote by signing a form confirming that you meet all the necessary criteria to become a registered voter.
When is the deadline to register to vote in Pennsylvania?
The deadline to register to vote in Allegheny County’s primary election was May 4, but the deadline to register to vote in the general election is October 19, so there’s still time.
Where are Allegheny County polling places on Election Day?
Voting locations are determined based on address. The Pennsylvania Department of State has a tool on its website that allows you to find your polling place. To determine where to vote on Election Day, visit the department’s webpage.
What is a valid form of identification to vote in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania?
If you are voting for the first time, you will need to show identification. People who have voted before do not need to show identification unless they move or are assigned to a new polling place.
Valid photo identification includes:
- Pennsylvania driver’s license or PennDOT ID card
- Identification issued by a federal agency
- U.S. government-issued identification card
- us passport
- US military ID
- Student ID (including electronic/digital student ID)
- Employee ID
If you do not have a photo ID, you can provide one of the following documents as identification, as long as your name and address are printed:
- Confirmation issued by the county voter registration office (such as a voter registration card)
- Federally issued non-photo ID
- U.S. government-issued non-photo ID
- Firearm license
- Current utility bill

Is there still time to drop off my mail-in ballot?
The deadline for in-person voting by mail has passed. However, you can still drop off your ballot at the Allegheny County Courthouse on Forbes Street in Pittsburgh on Election Day. Until 8pmOnly if voters apply for a mail-in ballot before the May 12 deadline.
Can a family member or friend deliver the ballot for me?
Under state law, voters must return their ballots, but there is an exception for voters with disabilities who have designated their ballots to be delivered in writing through a Designated Agent Authorization Form. That form can be found on the Pennsylvania Department of State website.
What voting options are available to voters with disabilities?
In-person votes will be cast on paper ballots, and ExpressVote ballot marking devices will be available at each polling place for those who are unable to mark a paper ballot.
The deadline to receive an accessible remote ballot has passed, but those using screen readers or assistive devices can still submit their requests online, by mail or by email ahead of the general election.
Can I check if my ballot was received and counted?
You can track the status of your vote online at the Pennsylvania Department of State’s website. In addition, if you provide your email address to Allegheny County Elections when you register to vote or apply to vote by mail, you will receive an email when we receive your returned ballot and other information regarding its status.

Ballots mailed on Election Day can only be returned to the Allegheny County Courthouse on Forbes Avenue in Pittsburgh. Open from 7am to 8pm
