nicole farato Here’s the news you need to know on Tuesday, from the implications of the presidential visit to the political possibilities of Indiana’s new congressional map. Then there’s Sidney Sweeney, who missed out on a 2025 Golden Globe nomination.

Why is President Trump heading to Pennsylvania?

President Donald Trump delivers a message on the economy during a speech Tuesday at the Mount Airy Casino Resort in Mount Pocono, Pennsylvania.

The visit to working-class towns in battleground states comes as the White House and Republicans struggle to address Americans’ affordability concerns.

Despite President Trump’s efforts to downplay economic concerns, Wilkes University political science professor Kyle Crider told USA TODAY that the president’s visit is a sign that Republicans are concerned about the midterm elections.

  • The Republican Party, and Trump, are facing new challenges. The race for a seat in the Miami mayor’s office will come to a close Tuesday night during a special runoff election.
  • USA TODAY Network is covering the following redistricting issues: Indiana’s mid-decade redistricting efforts will likely remove all Democratic representatives from the state’s legislative caucus. The bill’s fate now rests in the Indiana Senate, where it could be voted on Thursday if committee testimony survives.
  • “We all still celebrate Juneteenth and MLK Day”: Americans will no longer have free admission to the nation’s national parks to commemorate Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Juneteenth, but will be free on President Trump’s birthday, but people have opinions.

Let’s take a look

Florida State University wins Women’s College Cup

No. 3 Florida State defeated No. 1 overall seed Stanford 1-0 in the Women’s College Cup on Monday at CPKC Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri. This is the Seminoles’ third national title in the last five years and fifth overall. Florida State withstood Stanford’s attack, and Stanford entered Monday’s championship with a nation-high 96 goals, 25 more than the next closest team.

things to talk about

The Golden Globe Award won’t reach Ozian.

Perhaps the most shocking snub of this year’s Golden Globe nominations was the removal of the “Wicked” sequel from the Globe’s Best Musical or Comedy category in favor of surprise nominations for Richard Linklater’s “Blue Moon” and “Nouvelle Vague.” These are the most surprising names that won’t be joining next month’s show (including Sydney Sweeney).
