Nicki Minaj wants to make Hollywood great again, or at least a little more honest.

The 43-year-old Grammy-nominated rapper opened up about his support for President Donald Trump in an interview with Time magazine published on Wednesday, May 13.

Minaj has gained political attention in recent months as she has vocally advocated an alliance with the president. In January, Minaj attended the Trump Account Summit and touted herself as “probably the president’s biggest fan.” That same month, she attended a screening of First Lady Melania Trump’s documentary “Melania” at the newly renamed Trump Kennedy Center.

“A lot of celebrities feel the same way I do, but they don’t say it,” Minaj told Time magazine. “Sometimes it just takes one brave person to bear the brunt of the impact, and I think I’m a catalyst for that change.”

She added, “Hopefully, when they see me and hear me and feel my energy, they’ll be like, ‘You know what? Who am I afraid of? What am I afraid of?'”

Minaj, who visited Trump’s Mar-a-Lago mansion in South Florida for an interview, praised the president’s charisma, saying, “It’s the same way Marilyn Monroe has a vibe. Donald Trump is his own vibe.”

The “Super Freaky Girl” host has been a longtime supporter of Trump, but said she has refrained from expressing her political beliefs due to potential backlash from her peers in the music industry.

“I already felt that way about him, but I just didn’t have the courage to act that way in public,” Minaj said. “It’s ingrained in everyone in the music industry that we’re supposed to be a Democratic family. I knew they wouldn’t like me supporting Trump.”

Minaj also cited her disappointment with Trump’s predecessor, former President Barack Obama, as motivations for supporting President Trump, as well as her friendship with Jay-Z, Minaj’s hip-hop rival.

“I think Jay-Z ended up costing Obama a lot, whether he knew it or not,” Minaj said. “A lot of rappers hated Jay-Z and were afraid to say it.”

In her personal life, Minaj said the support she received from the Republican Party after a series of alleged swatting incidents at her Los Angeles home helped her change the way she views political advocacy. Florida Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna reportedly contacted Minaj and connected her to federal law enforcement officials and the private security company she uses.

“I’ve never seen anyone treat me like that in politics,” Minaj said. “That’s what made me say I don’t want to keep it a secret anymore.”
