Air Force Two touched down in Austin amid reports that the vice president was making a guest appearance on a popular podcast.

Multiple media outlets, including CBS Austin, are reporting that Vice President J.D. Vance is in Austin as a special guest on Joe Rogan’s podcast.

Publicly available flight tracking data shows the aircraft with the call sign “Air Force Two” departed from Joint Base Andrews at approximately 6:30 a.m. ET and landed at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport at approximately 8 a.m. CT/7 a.m. CT.

The Federal Aviation Administration also instituted temporary flight restrictions over Austin from 11:45 a.m. Central Time on Tuesday to 6:30 p.m. CT for “VIP travel.”

According to Politico, Vance was originally invited to speak about the bill by Rep. Lisa McClain of Michigan, the chair of the Republican conference, and was scheduled to travel to Washington, D.C., to meet with House Republicans.

Politico’s senior national affairs correspondent Adam Wren also reported that a person familiar with the plan said Vance plans to record a podcast with Rogan.

Logan Studios is located in Austin, and this isn’t the first time the podcaster has spoken with Vance, as the two are recording an episode from when Vance was a vice presidential candidate in 2024.

USA TODAY reached out to Vance’s spokesperson for comment, but did not receive a response.
