Thursday is packed with news you need to know, from the impending cold snap across the country to President Donald Trump’s dramatic Davos speech. Additionally, college basketball is also attracting attention.

Blue! Severe cold hits across America

Parts of the U.S. will experience an arctic blast Thursday, dropping temperatures into the single digits, as an arctic cold front expands from the northern Plains region into the mid-Mississippi Valley, Ohio Valley and Northeast over the weekend. Meanwhile, the south is stockpiling salt and preparing for warming in shelters.

What about you?” Hundreds of tech workers have signed a public petition calling on their employers – some of the world’s most powerful companies, from Amazon to Google – to use their economic and political influence to pressure President Trump to end the aggressive immigration crackdown that led to the shooting death of unarmed mother of three Renee Nicole Good.
  • The Uvalde police officer was acquitted. Adrian Gonzalez, 52, of the Uvalde School District Police Department, was charged with 29 counts of child endangerment after prosecutors said he failed to stop the gunman in the first few minutes of one of the deadliest school shootings in U.S. history.

College football is over. But have no fear. College basketball is heating up. The men’s season is in full swing with conference play underway, and there’s plenty to discuss, including sensational freshmen, national title contenders, and disappointments. With 54 days until Selection Sunday, Arizona is off to a perfect start with an 18-0 record and leads the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll. In the women’s bracket, UConn and Vanderbilt are the only remaining undefeated teams.
