Blue! Severe cold hits across America
Parts of the U.S. will experience an arctic blast Thursday, dropping temperatures into the single digits, as an arctic cold front expands from the northern Plains region into the mid-Mississippi Valley, Ohio Valley and Northeast over the weekend. Meanwhile, the south is stockpiling salt and preparing for warming in shelters.

- The Uvalde police officer was acquitted. Adrian Gonzalez, 52, of the Uvalde School District Police Department, was charged with 29 counts of child endangerment after prosecutors said he failed to stop the gunman in the first few minutes of one of the deadliest school shootings in U.S. history.

In the women’s bracket, UConn and Vanderbilt are the only remaining undefeated teams.
