December is all about Chipotle giveaways.
The Newport Beach, Calif.-based restaurant chain is “welcoming the holiday season” with a buy-one-get-one (BOGO) offer on appetizers the next two Saturdays in December. Chipotle also gives Rewards members monthly “special treats” like free chips and double protein.
On December 6th, customers had the opportunity to participate in Taco BOGO, where they could get a free entree with the purchase of a 3-taco entree during this period. On “Burrito BOGO” Day on Saturday, Dec. 13, Chipotle customers can get a free entree with the purchase of a burrito.
The series of holiday promotions, dubbed “Unwrapped Extra,” concludes with “Extra Sweater Day” on December 20th. This day is a chance for customers to wear their most “extra” sweater and redeem it for the last BOGO offer of the season.
“Unwrapped Extra is about giving back to our fans and creating moments of unity with loved ones around the food they crave,” Chris Brandt, president and chief brand officer of Chipotle, said in a statement. “With three consecutive Saturday sales and two surprise drops for all Rewards members, this is our biggest holiday promotion to date.”

How to get free appetizers at Chipotle in December
To receive your free entree, you must purchase a burrito inside the restaurant after 4pm local time on Saturday, December 13th. Chipotle Mexican Grill’s definition of entrees includes salads, bowls, tacos, and burritos.
Chipotle’s “Unwrap Extra” promotional offer can be redeemed in-restaurant only at participating restaurants nationwide. Children’s meals do not count as entree purchases.
Chipotle says this deal cannot be combined with other coupons, promotions or special offers. Limit of 5 free menu items per check.
Chipotle gives away free food to college students
Chipotle isn’t looking to exclude college students this holiday season, launching a new program called Bowl Eligible that allows Chipotle U Rewards members to receive a free entree with any purchase.
Only college students attending a university with a football team eligible for the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) postseason are eligible to receive this giveaway. Students at 84 colleges are “bowl eligible.”
Students at eligible schools must join Chipotle U Rewards by Thursday, Dec. 18 to qualify for the offer. However, existing Rewards members who attend competing schools or are FBS postseason eligible will automatically receive access to BOGO offers on Wednesday, December 10th and Friday, December 19th.
To redeem a free entree, Chipotle U Rewards members must place an order through the Chipotle app or Chipotle.com within seven days of the offer being added to their account.
