Kennedy asks the CDC for new appearances for treating measles and other illnesses

CNN

Robert F. Kennedy Jr., secretary to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, is seeking alternative therapies such as vitamins from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, about the agency’s “scientific process” regarding alternative therapies such as vitamins, as well as the agency’s “scientific process” for treating measles and other conditions, HHS said in a statement.

The HHS statement said “The CDC continues to recommend the measles vaccination as the most effective way to prevent disease,” and has publicly encouraged measles vaccinations while Kennedy himself says it is a “personal” option.

However, “we recognize that some individuals and communities in the United States may choose not to get vaccinated,” the HHS statement said. “Our commitment is to support all families (regardless of their vaccination status) to reduce the risk of hospitalizations, serious complications and death from measles.”

“Chief Kennedy plans to treat single or multiple existing drugs in combination with vitamins and other modalities to activate the scientific process to treat many diseases, including measles,” the statement said. “This initiative includes collaborations with universities across the country, developing protocols, conducting testing, and pursuing approval for new uses for safe and effective treatments that meet the highest scientific standards.”

With measles outbreaks concentrated in western Texas continuing to grow, reaching nearly 800 cases as of this week, disease experts fear Kennedy is focusing on unconventional treatments such as cod liver oil, the antibiotic clarithromycin and steroid budesonide.

“There are doctors in these communities who teach other doctors how to treat the disease with aerosolized steroids, budesonide, clarithromycin and more,” Kennedy said Monday at a City Hall event hosted by Dr. PhilmcGrow.

Measles – The Mumpsulvera (MMR) vaccine is 97% effective at preventing measles after the recommended two doses, but there is no specific treatment for measles after someone is infected.

In severe cases, doctors can provide treatments such as supplementary oxygen and liquids to help patients overcome their worst illnesses. The CDC also recommends Vitamin A that has been administered twice by a doctor in cases of severe measles, such as those hospitalized. Infectious disease experts have noted that vitamins are most useful in poor countries where children are significantly malnourished.

In a summary of measles treatments posted Thursday, the CDC said “vitamin A may be used under the supervision of a healthcare provider,” and “other treatments, such as antibiotics, should be prescribed based on clinical judgment by an individual healthcare provider.”

The summary points out that there is no evidence to support the routine use of antibiotics in people with measles, but that if the person develops a secondary bacterial infection, they may be needed. Similarly, it states that patients with a history of certain airway conditions may receive inhaled steroids.

A poll released last week showed that the growing percentage of US adults has heard false claims about measles and vaccines, including vitamin A that can prevent infection.

Dr. Christina Johns, a pediatrician in Annapolis, Maryland, told CNN in March.

In a fact-check on its website, the American Academy of Pediatrics stated, “The recent claim that budesonide and clarithromycin measles are reckless, putting children at serious risk. There is no cure for measles. Vaccination is the only way to prevent the spread of measles.”

play

Many retailers have recently been undergoing mass closures, but German discount grocery chain Aldi is about to continue growing in 2025.

In February, the chain announced plans to open more than 225 new stores in 2025 as part of a five-year growth plan to add 800 stores by the end of 2028. According to the company, the 225 stores will be “the most Aldi will open in a year in the history of the US.”

In a news release in February, Aldi said the new stores will open through “organic growth and converting selected Winn-Dixie and Harveys supermarket stores to Aldi format.” Overall, Aldi will convert approximately 220 southeastern grocery stores to Aldi format by 2027.

Aldi completed the acquisition of Southeastern Grocers, the parent company of Winn-Dixie and Harveys supermarkets in March 2024. However, in February 2025, it announced plans to sell around 170 private Winn-Dixie and Harveys stores to spouses, including senior investors at C&S Whoneaster Grocers and Southertern Grocers.

In a news release in February, Aldi said the grand openings for the first few converted southeast grocery stores were underway, with about 100 conversion locations reopening as Aldi stores by the end of 2025.

The chain said it opened nearly 120 stores in 2024, exceeding 2,400 total stores, making it the third largest grocery chain in the United States in terms of number of stores.

Aldi Store already opened in 2025

An Aldi spokesperson said in a statement emailed to USA Today on Wednesday that the company has already opened more than 40 stores this year, and “we plan to plan more openings than in the summer.”

This is a list of locations that the store has opened so far in 2025.

Alec Baldwin’s “Rust” hits the theater after the director of cinema is killed on set

Alec Baldwin’s tormented Western film “Rust” hit theaters, and it was on video-on-demand on May 2nd. That release raises a thorny question: Is it okay to watch this movie? During a rehearsal in New Mexico on October 21, 2021, Baldwin’s guns were discharged from the hospital and killed 42-year-old cinematographer Harina Hutchins and injured director Joel Souza. To some, watching the film may seem like a horrible voyeurism, even if the scene in question is not part of the final cut. Supporting the film for others, including Hutchins’ colleagues and family, pays tribute to the ultimate artistic pursuit of his late wife, daughter and friend. read more

Principals of England, Wales and NI say supply crisis is getting worse | Special Educational Needs

0

Research shows that the special needs education crisis appears to be exacerbated, with nine out of 10 school leaders finding it difficult to meet the needs of their students.

Almost all (98%) of respondents (98%) of the National Association of Principals’ Principals’ (NAHT) polls targeting England, Wales and Northern Ireland said they lacked resources to meet the needs of all students with special educational needs and disabilities (sent).

One school leader who participated in the survey described the level of transmit funding as “devil” and another school leader said that demand continues to increase, with the number of students doubled in nursery and reception over the past three years.

Four in five (82%) mainstream school leaders said they struggled to support students who need professional provisions that were agreed on Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP) but were not available.

NAHT General Secretary Paul Whiteman said the student needs are becoming more complicated. “Too many schools now have too many children who need to get professional support, disappointed by the lack of capacity and availability of specialist locations.

“The schools are desperately trying to do their best for those students, but their hands are tied up without the help of the experts they need. We also know that many special schools are struggling to meet their needs for the place and are very oversubscribed.”

The government plans to publish a white paper to transform its transmission system in English. This is expected to prioritize inclusion and better support in mainstream state schools with the aim of reducing spending on costly private provisions.

A Guardian analysis earlier this year revealed that many UK councils have sent out spending on independent special schools, pushing Parliament on the brink of bankruptcy, building debts in the hundreds of millions of pounds.

“We are not opposed to governments that want mainstream schools to be inclusive, and school leaders take this obligation seriously,” Whiteman said. “However, more funding, resources and specialized staffing is needed to ensure that students are supported appropriately and effectively.

“And this does not rule out the fact that there is always a need for special school locations for students with the greatest needs. The capabilities of both mainstream and vocational schools must be tailored to their needs.”

Representatives to the NAHT annual meeting held in Harrogate this weekend will vote for many moves seeking more funding, training and support for the education of sender students. “Currently, education has no prioritization over fixing the send crisis,” Whiteman said.

The poll included anonymous contributions that revealed the daily struggles that schools faced, bringing nearly 900 responses from school leaders in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, both in mainstream and technical schools.

“We’re in a deficit budget position,” said the person. “We support children with important needs and have not received the funds they need. It has a detrimental impact on the education of others in school.”

Another said: “We struggle with the level of need and what we can actually offer to our children. The morale of our staff is low, and staff are leaving the profession.”

A spokesman for the Ministry of Education said the government had inherited the transmission system on its lap and had already invested an additional £1.7 billion to improve the clause.

They added: “It will take some time, but as part of planning for change, I think differently about what the transmission system should look like.

Knicks vs Pistons final score, highlights: Jalen Brunson game winner

0

play

The New York Knicks had no issues in the third quarter. This time the issue came in fourth.

But in the end, the NBA Clutch Player of the Year concluded the series.

All-Star point guard Jalen Brunson raced three pointers with 4.3 seconds left in the game, capping an 11-1 run and pushing the Knicks past the Pistons 116-113. And with that, New York won the first round playoff series in six games on Thursday night, opening a showdown in the Eastern Conference semi-finals with the Boston Celtics.

Branson was spectacular in the fourth quarter, scoring eight of the team’s final 11 points. He scored 40 points in 15/33rd shooting, adding seven assists and four rebounds.

The Knicks were entering the fourth quarter with an 11-point lead, but the slow play, sales and cold shooting brought Detroit back into the game and ultimately scored a 7-point lead at 2:35.

The Pistons missed their final four field goal attempts and committed a pair of turnovers in the final minutes, opening the door to a ferocious New York run to win the game.

One of these sales came on the penultimate play of the game when Detroit planned an outbound play that would have set up the open 3 of Malik Beasley, which had tied the game together. However, the ball glanced at Beasley’s hand and landed from range.

The Knicks inbound the ball on the next play and quickly ate the final 0.4 seconds of the game.

To overcome the incompetence of the third quarter, the Knicks unleashed a veteran play.

New York on Thursday received an outscore every quarter of the series, combining a -33 margin to score 6.6 points per third quarter.

However, on Thursday night, the Knicks outperformed Detroit by 13 during the period, carrying an 11-point lead to the fourth 96-85.

The Knicks went to the younger piston and used excessive defense against them. Early in the third time, New York fouled Detroit and baited him, and the Knicks had already become a bonus before the eight-minute mark expired.

That led to Detroit playing rather interim defense, allowing the Knicks to cut and lower the easier bucket.

The Knicks also got hot over the arc, nailing a four-quarter 3S in that period, but Detroit couldn’t make one of the seven deep tries.

This means that pistons facing elimination will take 12 minutes to erase the deficit and save the season.

The Pistons settled in the second quarter, playing on a much better offensive rhythm, surpassing the Knicks by 16 during the period.

More importantly, for Detroit, the three-pointer covering guard Malik Beasley’s buzzer pushed the piston into the lead at halftime 61-59.

Detroit was caused by Beasley’s shooting, nailing six of the 11 shots in the first half. Beasley led all the Pistons players in half with 18 points, while Cade Cunningham added 11 points, five assists and four rebounds.

Just as Piston was hot in the era, it was a very different story for the cooler Knicks. New York only modified seven-in-one attempts (36.8%), committing five turnovers in the second quarter, compared to 60.9% shootings in Detroit period.

Jalen Brunson scored just five points in this period, but leads all players with 20 points on 13 shots. Center Carl Antony Towns has had a slightly quieter night so far.

The New York Knicks did some different things in the first quarter Thursday compared to how they finished Game 5 on Tuesday night. They pushed the pace of transition. Point guard Jalen Branson took over.

Branson scored 15 points in nine shots and added four assists to lead New York to a 37-23 advantage after one inning.

The Knicks were generally hot, nailing 15/25 shots (60%) and taking advantage of three early Detroit turnovers. Cade Cunningham scored nine points, but the Pistons struggled to return to defense during the transition, leading the New York bucket with ease.

During the period, the Pistons only shot 8/21 (38.1%) from the field.

Pistons vs Knicks Game 6 Schedule

Mondo duplantis talks to CNN Sports about his record-breaking “life-changing” year, Olympic Gold, music debut

0

CNN

The past 12 months have been a whirlwind of Armand “Mondo” Duplantis.

Already one of the most famous faces in track and field, Swedish Paul Wolter was brought to even higher heights in an astonishing year at the age of 25.

Not only did he break his world record to win his second Olympic gold medal in Paris last summer, he was engaged to his longtime girlfriend and made his first advance in the music scene with his debut single.

His achievements were recognized last month at the Laureus World Sports Awards in Madrid, winning the Sportsman of the Year Award, and becoming the second track and field athlete to do so after Usain Bolt.

And after he calls it a “life-changing” year, Duplantis says that more should come.

“I still have confidence to enter[the 2028 Olympics]in LA. I’m going to be even better. I can jump even higher,” Duplantis told CNN Sports in an exclusive interview. “I can just do that, make a big splash and break the record again.

When it comes to dominating a single sport, no one has done it like the duplantis in the pole vault in recent years.

He was one of three men who held the Paul Vault world record in the 21st century, and set the 11 world record for himself in 2020 as he first leveled from 6.17m to 6.27m in five seasons.

Duplantis went from top-level athlete to global superstar at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, breaking the world record of 6.25m in the third and final attempt in the world. In February he again needed just one attempt to break the record. Duplantis revealed to CNN that he is confident that he will reach the 6.30m (approximately 20.67 feet) mark in the near future.

Duplantis broke his own world record in February.

That moment in France saw a huge increase in attention to Duplantis’ achievements, gaining a massive following on social media, and filming international stardom. He also proposed to his girlfriend Desiré Inglander during a photo shoot for Vogue Scandinavia last October.

He acknowledges that the additional attention he received has made him think about his position in the world of sports, particularly his position around Paul’s vault, but he also tries to remain grounded.

“I think you can still see it, but things can be a little bit apart in track and field, and I want to make sure Paul Vault can stand on his two legs, which I think is very important,” he told CNN Sports. “It’s very easy to catch up when you think there are too many people following you and watching you.

“I think it’s strange to conceptualize. I’m trying to start my business over and over. I know I’m a good person. I’m trying to do what I feel is right.

He currently has 28 consecutive victories, and during the top of the sport, Dupantis has garnered two Olympic titles, two world championships and other accolades.

Duplantis has become a global superstar for the past 12 months.

Duplantis admits that the trophies he earns aren’t completely grateful until he cuts the pole. And he also says that his last 12 months look perfect “on paper,” but that was the result of a lot of “ups and downs.”

“There were parts of me that I felt (I didn’t feel like I was where I wanted to be or where I needed to be at that moment, but I think that pushed me to where I needed to be at the right moment, like the Olympics or the finals,” he explained.

“I feel like it wasn’t where I really wanted it because it didn’t start the season a little. But I think I was able to play really well in the outdoor season because I gave it that fire and learned that I should do and that I need to go into the outdoor season, so I have to fix it and change it for that, so I’ve made it perfect for it, so I gave it that fire and I gave it that fire and I think I was able to play very well in the outdoor season.”

Duplantis’s over-pole admiration speaks for itself, but he still found time to enjoy other aspects of his life.

Last September he defeated the 400-meter hurdle sensation Karsten Warholm in a 100-meter display race in Switzerland, finishing the race in an impressive 10.37 seconds.

Duplantis admits that if he participates in competitive races in Michael Johnson’s newly created Grand Slam Track Series, he would become “smoke” but prefers to stay in “guest races,” but he said he would like to try other races in various lengths in the future.

Duplantis (left) and Warholm (right) competed in the 100m sprint race.

He also found time to soak his toes in the music booth and released his debut single “Bop” this February.

Music has been passionate about Duplantis for a long time. He describes how he was in the choir as a young man and spent hours in a Swedish studio when he didn’t hone his sports skills.

Losing contact with his musical side over the years, Duplantis says he returned to it about three years ago and dabbled in making his own music.

Duplantis released “Bop” on the same day as the recent world record in February. The song was played through stadium speakers during a record-breaking jump.

He admits he’s “very nervous” when the song is released, saying there’s “more to come.”

“I really love it and I think it’s a good thing for me as a person and as an athlete,” he said.

Farage’s Right Reform Party wins a small second seat in the UK parliament

0

London
AP

The Right-wing Party Reform Britain, led by Nigel Farage, appeared to aim to increase the results from local elections on Friday, winning parliamentary seats with a small number of votes.

Reformed Sarah Pochin defeated Labour candidate Karen Shore after the re-rales, being declared the winner and six votes in the Runcorn and Helsby seats in northwestern England.

Labour easily won the district in last year’s national elections, but its MP Mike Amesbury was forced to quit after being convicted of punching a constitutional lawyer in drunken rage.

The victory of reform was one of the narrowest things in British history, but Farage said it was a “very big moment” for politics.

Thursday’s local elections in many parts of England were a test of sentiment about Prime Minister Kiel Starmer’s Centre-Left Labour Government, ten months after being elected by landslides. Both Labour and the main opposition Conservatives supported the losses in the mid-poll.

The runcorn victory gave reforms, winning around 14% of the vote in last year’s national elections. This is five out of the 650 seats in the House. Currently, public opinion polls suggest that its support is equal to or exceeds that of workers and conservatives, hoping to drive away conservatives by 2029 as the country’s leading political party just before the next national election.

The Farage party has achieved partial results to acquire the newly created mayor of the Greater Lincolnshire region of eastern England. The workers held three other mayors.

The reform hopes to scoop hundreds of local government seats in an election that has decided 1,600 seats in one seat on 23 local councils, six mayors and councils. Votings count on Friday for most of these contests.

The majority of the contested local seats were held by conservatives.

Badenok admitted that the outcome could be “very difficult” for Tories. When these regions were last contested in 2021, the party did very well. It was a time when then Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s conservative government enjoyed a surge in popularity due to the Covid-19 vaccine program.

Tim Bale, a political professor at Queen Mary University of London, said the Conservative Party and reforms are in “a battle for the soul of the right wing of British politics.” He said Farage’s “radical populist rights rebellion” also poses a threat to labor, targeting working-class voters to pledge to curb immigration, create jobs and reduce government waste.

The centralist Liberal Democrats also hope to be able to separate themselves from conservatives and succeed in securing wealthier, socially free voters.

ICE is building a sophisticated new immigration tracking system

0

President Donald Trump has set a goal of deporting one million people a year, and the new system aims to help prioritize who is targeted.

play

Denver – Federal officials are building a vast new database system that they call “immigrants” to track and target millions of people living illegally in the United States

GOP Megadonor Peter Thiel’s $30 million non-bid agreement with Palantir Technologies will help immigration and customs enforcement agents build a sophisticated system for prioritizing people for deportation, including members of the accused and those who have stayed on tourist visas. The contract with the Denver-based company calls for the prototype to be rolled out this fall.

Thiel, founder and chairman of Palantir, has launched PayPal, close to Vice President JD Vance and Doge Head Elon Musk.

As Musk’s agents seek technology-focused solutions to make government more efficient, the immigration project reflects the approach Doge has brought to federal officials under Trump. Palantir already runs an ICE system used for homeland security investigations, with new immigrants consolidating data from multiple databases from government and private sources.

“The continuous violence and fear campaigns of these transnational organizations in the US and internationally are extremely violent and vicious, and equally threatening the American people,” ICE officials said in justifying their non-building agreement with Palantir. “They present an extraordinary and extraordinary threat to US national security, foreign policy and the economy.”

Palantir’s existing contract with ICE already exceeds $88 million, with the new immigration system costing another $30 million, according to details of the agreement reviewed by USA Today. Some of Musk’s Doge lawmakers had previously worked at Palantir, according to posts on LinkedIn and other social media sites.

The system will also help track people who “self-deport” or voluntarily leave the United States, and prioritize ice enforcement against those who remain. Trump wants to deport one million people every year. This is a dramatic increase that requires vast, sophisticated and expensive targeting, detention and removal operations.

You can reuse the system to track Americans

Civil Liberties Groups warn systems that pose great risk to the public as it is unclear how systems are limited to those who live illegally in the United States. They warn that such a system can be easily scaled to target Americans.

Trump has suggested he would like to remove not only immigrants but also U.S. citizens if they are deemed dangerous, and he has ordered Attorney General Pam Bondy to investigate.

Cooper Quintin, Senior Staff Engineer, Electronic Frontier Foundation, The non-profit digital rights group said Palantir’s work has long raised concerns by effectively matching public databases with Facebook tracking and shopper reward cards.

The federal government collects and maintains a huge amount of information about individual Americans, but computer databases are usually kept separate from each other to maintain personal privacy. In April, USA Today reported that the IRS agreed to provide ICE agents with access to taxpayer data, including data about people who filed taxes without a Social Security number.

ICE agents can get a grasp of where your target person lives and works, who are likely to be at home, who they live with, what type of car they drive, and even the frequent restaurants and shops they live and work.

Quintin said a system designed to target people living illegally in the United States can be easily reused to target the president’s political opponents.

“What they’ve built is a really, really capable engine to analyze big data, tie it together and choose a part of it. It gives you the ability to collate this data with someone and go find a reason to prosecute them,” Quintin said. “Even if you think it’s safe for now, it may not be safe for a long time.”

President Trump signs orders that aim to cut NPR and PBS funding

0

play

WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump has signed an executive order aimed at cutting funding for news outlet NPR and PBS, saying the White House is marking Trump’s latest attempt to use federal funds as leverage for institutions he has not seen favorably.

The order directs the company to “suspend direct funds” for public broadcasters that distribute funds to PBS and NPR stations, according to a text released by the White House on May 1.

“The CPB Board shall cancel existing direct funds to the maximum extent permitted by law and deny future funding,” the order added.

Both NPR and PBS say Trump’s efforts to cut funds will disrupt key media services and have “devastating effects” on Americans who rely on trustworthy local and national news, including emergencies.

The Trump administration has labelled multiple institutions in the academia and media industry, from Harvard and Columbia University to NPR and PBS, as leftists, Marxism, prejudice, awakening, and threatening to cut funding. Human rights advocates raised concerns about freedom of speech and academic freedom.

The CPB sued the White House on April 28 after Trump attempted to fire three of his five board members. The Nonprofit Corporation was founded by Congress in 1967 and provides funding for more than 1,500 locally managed public radio and television stations.

Several media outlets have reported plans to ask the White House to ask Congress to withdraw $1.1 billion in funding for the CPB, amounting to two years’ worth of funding.

Humanity adds AI to your favorite work tools

0

Humanity has begun “integrating” Claude, which allows AI to talk directly with their favorite daily work tools. Additionally, the company has launched an enhanced “advanced research” feature to dig deeper than ever before.

Starting with integration, this feature is based on the technical standard humanity (Model Context Protocol, or MCP) released last year, but it will be much easier to use. Previously, setting up this was a bit technical and local. Now, developers build secure bridges to allow Claude to securely connect to apps on the web or on the desktop.

For Claude end users, this means you can connect to a growing list of popular work software. It immediately includes support for 10 big names from Atlassian Jira and Confluence (Hello, Project Managers and Dev Teams!), Automation Powerhouse Zapier, CloudFlare, Customer Comms Tool Intercom, Asana, Square, Sentry, Paypal, Linear, and Plaid. Stripe and Gitlab will be joining the party soon.

So, what’s the big deal? The real advantage here is the context. When Claude checks the history of a project in Jira, reads the team’s knowledge base in Confluence, or checks for task updates in Asana, it stops guessing and starts to understand what you’re working on.

“Connecting tools to Claude allows you to understand project history, task status, organizational knowledge and take action across all surfaces,” explains humanity.

They said, “Claude will become a more informed collaborator and help you execute complex projects in one place with expert support at every step.”

Let’s see what this actually means. When you connect Zapier, suddenly Zapier’s workflow gives Claude the key to thousands of apps linked. Conversationally, you can ask Claude to trigger complex sequences. Grab the latest sales numbers from hub spots, check the calendar, and liven up some meeting notes without lifting your fingers with those apps.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vmaqmfpo3j0

For teams using Atlassian’s Jira and Confluence, Claude can be a serious helper. Think about drafting product specifications, summarizing long confluence documents and not having to go through them, or even creating a batch of linked Jira tickets at once. Analyzing project data can even identify potential obstacles.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_9pltnwipg

Additionally, if you use Intercom for customer chat, this integration could be a game changer. Intercom’s own AI assistant, Fin can work with Claude to do things like automatically creating bug reports in Linear if a customer flags an issue. You can also ask Claude to sift through the intercom chat history to find patterns, debug tricky issues, or summarise what the customer is saying.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qcapcnp0gxk

Humanity also makes it easier for developers to build these connections even easier. They believe that using their tools (or platforms like CloudFlare that handle tricky bits like security and setup), developers can spurt custom integrations with Claude in about 30 minutes. This could mean connecting Claude to the company’s own internal systems or specialized industry software.

Beyond the integration of tools, Claude gets a serious research upgrade

In addition to these new connections, humanity has given a serious boost to Claude’s research capabilities. You can already search for web and Google Workspace files, but the new “advanced research” mode is built when you really need to dig deeper.

Flip this advanced mode switch and Claude tackles big questions in a different way. Instead of one big search, we intelligently break down requests and thoroughly investigate each part. This uses the web, Google Docs, tap on the app you connected via integration, then summarize it in a detailed report.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fuxdgcmf1qg

This deep excavation will take a little longer now. Many reports may only take 5-15 minutes, but humanity says that in truly complex research Claude could be working for up to 45 minutes. It may take a while, but compared to the time spent grinding it manually in that study, it starts to look quite attractive.

The important thing is to be reliable in the results. If Claude uses information from any source, whether it’s a website, internal documentation, Jira tickets, or Confluence pages, it will go back directly to the original and provide a clean link. No more wondering where AI has come from. You can check it yourself.

These glossy new integrations and advanced research modes are rolled out in beta for Anthropic’s paid Max, teams and enterprise plan people. If you are using Pro Plan, don’t worry – access is quickly going your way.

Also worth noting: the standard web search feature within Claude is now available anywhere for everyone on any paid Claude.ai plan (Pro and Up). There are no further geographical restrictions on the front.

Putting it all together, these updates and integrations show that humanity is serious about making Claude seriously useful in a professional context. By providing a more powerful way to connect directly to the tools they already use and analyze information, they are pushing Claude to become a more important part of the latest toolkit, rather than a novelty.

CIA will roll out sophisticated new videos aimed at recruiting Chinese officials

0

Hong Kong
CNN

The CIA released two new videos aimed at guiding Chinese officials to spy on the US, drawing the cruel anti-corruption horrors of disillusionment and leader Xi Jinping’s state amid China’s vast bureaucracy.

The refined clip, filmed in the Mandarin with Chinese subtitles, is the latest effort by US spy agencies to increase intelligence reporting agencies in China, and is seen by consecutive administrations as a top strategic rival and military threat to the US.

China’s intelligence agency has also launched a highly public campaign over the past two years on social media that warns citizens against spying on foreign countries and paying attention to attempts to spy on them.

CIA director John Ratcliffe has pledged to expand the agency’s focus to Beijing, pledging to make the threat posed by China a top priority.

Last October, the CIA released a text video in Chinese with step-by-step instructions on how to safely contact your agency online. This was part of a broader willingness to recruit new informants in China, Iran and North Korea.

The latest video posted on the CIA social media accounts is much more refined than last year’s production. Each one runs for more than two minutes longer, and is delivered in a mini-movie style with background music like plot lines, narration and suspense.

One video is intended to appeal to senior Communist officials who live in perpetuity of being drunk on Xi’s seemingly endless crackdown on corruption and dishonesty. The campaign has similarly punished millions of high-flying staff and low-ranking executives, shaking government agencies, military and state-owned businesses.

“I get up inside the party and see the people above me being dumped like worn shoes one after the other. But now I realize that my destiny is just as unstable as theirs.”

“It’s too common for someone to suddenly disappear without traces. What I fear most is that the fate of my family is connected to myself. I have to prepare an escape route,” he says.

Other videos take advantage of the growing disillusionment among young Chinese people. As the economy slows, some people have come to realize that no matter how hard or long they work, privileged, wealthy, and powerful lives remain out of reach.

It features a young government worker who is disillusioned with his career and life, attending a boss who lives a luxurious life perfect for a tailor-made suit and expensive watch.

He attends a tough political self-criticism session, eats a poor take-out lunch, falls behind government reports, and returns to his small apartment where he lives with his parents.

“From an early age, the party has taught us that we have a bright future as long as we eagerly follow the path laid out by our leaders. The sky that was intended for everyone to share is enjoyed by only a few people, and we have no choice but to train our own path,” he says. “I refused to lie flat!”

In both videos, the main character ends with a scene where he contacts the CIA on the agency’s website. Senior Party officials feel at ease that no matter what his future holds, his family can still enjoy a good life. Young government workers are excited to take the first step towards building their dreams.

In the final scene of the video, Chinese government workers contact the CIA.

Chinese authorities, who are on the way to a five-day holiday, have not responded to CIA videos. CNN contacted China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs for comment.

The CIA is confident that the video has penetrated China’s “great firewall” of internet censorship and reaches its intended audience, Reuters reported.

“If that wasn’t working, we wouldn’t make any more videos,” a CIA official told Reuters, adding that China is the agency’s number one priority in a “really generational competition” between the US and China.

By Friday afternoon, China’s state-controlled media had not reported on the video, but they have been attracting limited attention to the country’s highly regulated social media. Several posts mention the video in writing using one shared screenshot. However, the video itself has not been widely shared so far.

“The content in the video is totally ridiculous and of course you can’t post it (here),” 300 likes! Please read Weibo’s post with.

Another user wrote: “Their impure motives are self-evident. The United States cannot shake us in a trade war, so they are trying to undermine us from within. The imperialists will never stop planning with China.

The CIA’s propaganda campaign in China is due to Beijing’s own spy agency offering a large public profile in recent years. The once infamous, secret national security ministry has ordered massive followers on China’s social media, with almost-day commentary, short videos and even comic strips warnings about ubiquitous threats to the country.

When former CIA chief Bill Burns revealed in a foreign journal article last year that the agency had allocated more funds and resources to gather information about China and recruit more Chinese speakers, a spokesman for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs was grateful for reminding them that “American spies are everywhere and are infiltrating everything.”

FTC Order Publisher settles homes to pay customers $18.5 million

The Federal Trade Commission announced on April 30 that publisher Clearinghouse had agreed to pay $18.5 million to customers “harmful to misleading claims” the company had made.

In a press release from the FTC, the agency said the publisher Clearinghouse targets older and low-income customers and “deceives consumers to think that buying products will not allow them to enter the sweepstakes without purchasing them, or that buying products will increase the likelihood of victory.”

The FTC said the publisher Clearinghouse misunderstood the customer using the deceptive email subject and “deceptive shipping and handling fees.”

Officials said the checks will be sent to 281,724 publishers who will clear home consumers within the next 90 days.

In a statement to USA Today, Chris Irving, vice president of Consumer & Legal Affairs at Publishers Clearing House, said the checks come from the settlement reached between them and the FTC in 2023.

“We opposed the FTC claims at the time, but we were pleased to resolve the issue and continue to move forward by continuing to do our best.

Publishers clearing house files for bankruptcy

It has been unstable for publishers to clear their homes over the past few weeks. In early April, the company filed for bankruptcy protection in New York, saying it would use bankruptcy to streamline its business.

The company also said it would use bankruptcy to explore the sale of assets and find business partners to fund long-term business plans for its digital business.

“Our world-renowned sweepstakes will continue to be the basis of our experience and will continue to offer free entertainment and awards during and during this process, in regular business courses.”

During the Pirates Cubes game on April 30th in Pittsburgh, fans who fell on the correct field stand and warning track were identified as Bag Markwood.

A spokesman for the South Allegheny School District told the Pittsburgh Tribune Review and Athletic that Markwood, a 2022 graduate of South Allegheny High School, is a felled fan.

“Everyone in South Allegheny will say he’s a hardworking, resilient young man. He’s a fighter. He needs that resilience now. But he has it,” Laura Thomson told the Tribune Review. “He touched a lot of lives in South Allegheny. We’re a small community. He’s a common name here. Everyone knows him.

“He has prayer and support from the South Allegheny community.”

Pittsburgh Public Safety said on the morning of May 1 that Markwood was “in a critical state.”

“The Pittsburgh Police do not anticipate providing additional updates to the public,” he added.

Markwood was a standout football player at South Allegheny High School in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, near Pittsburgh. He was on the roster of the Walsh University Football Team in 2022 and the Wheeling University Football Team in 2023. Both schools have Division II programs. His Wheeling Bio says he appeared in five games for the Cardinals in 2023.

Harry Maguire tells CNN about acquiring lifelong goals in the “craziest” game of his career

0

CNN

Harry Maguire has experienced the highs and lows of being a Manchester United star in recent seasons, but he has no doubts about his unwavering self-esteem.

For Red Devils centreback, who became the world’s most expensive defender when he joined United from Leicester City in 2019, it certainly was a roller coaster of emotions these days.

Last month, Maguire is playing as a makeshift striker, but won a sensational winner in the final seconds of extra time as his team completed one of Europe’s great comebacks by beating the Olympic Lyon 7-6 and reaching the semi-finals of the Europa League, facing Athletic Bilbao.

“Well, I think it’s the craziest game I’ve ever played. To be honest, from a goal perspective, it’s probably my favorite and best goal in club football,” Maguire told CNN Sports.

“I obviously scored a few goals in the World Cup quarterfinals and the Euro quarterfinals, so they all get close, but that’s something I will never forget, and I think the emotion of the game is what makes the goal bigger.

Despite the home side’s happiness on an epic night at the Theatre of Dreams, it was another season of substantial shortage for the British Giants in the Premier League. So the only hope for the team to play in the Champions League next season is to win the campaign against the Europa League.

“Of course, this club wants to win the trophy and they need to win the trophy, so to win the Europa League, it’s going to be really big for us as players, staff and everyone.

“We beat Lyon in the quarter-finals. We’re playing Bilbao now. Bilbao says that people are probably the tournament favorites. So it’s a tough, tough game, but it’s something we look forward to, we play and do everything we can.”

Now led by Portuguese head coach Reuben Amorim, United, brought to the worst finish of his Premier League days, with fierce rival Liverpool pulling out United with the record 20 top flight league title to rub more salt on the wounds.

<p data-lazy-src=

02:22

Maguire admits that his team endured a really difficult year. “It was a real shame. We can’t hide from it. We’re too inconsistent.

“It left us in a position where we can’t go anywhere in the Premier League. We play more for pride and league positions, not for the European location we know as players. That’s not enough for Manchester United.”

United enjoys success in the League Cup and FA Cup during Maguire’s time at the club, but there have been some difficult moments for England International too. He was the club captain of All Gunnal Solskigier, just to lose his captain in 2023 under Norwegian successor Eric Ten Hag. At the time, Maguire expressed his extreme disappointment at the decision.

There were also injuries (especially missing Euro 2024) and regular losses in shape, but through that, the resilience and character strength of the defender’s trademark remained unchanged. The perfect remedy to silence critics.

“Just hard. It’s coming to workout every day and coming to improve as much as you can. And if you give it everything, I say it doesn’t matter what you go through.

“It’s about working hard, giving everything, having great belief in yourself, being able to do it, turning the difficult season that obviously I had.”

The 32-year-old admits to CNN that he and his teammates are hurt by poor results, but these same set-offs also help motivate the team to move forward.

“It gives us hunger and that fight to make sure we come back in the next season. We’ll be better. We’re showing more. We’ll be doing that.

“I’m sure it will improve next year. I’m going to find the difference between these games and make sure we have a better, more consistent foundation.”

With that improvement in mind, United already knows where some of their preseason preparations go ahead of their 2025-26 campaign.

The Red Devils travel to the US to compete in the Premier League summer series.

Along with AFC Bournemouth, Everton and West Ham United, Maguire and his teammates will play doubleheaders at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. This will be held at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta from July 26th to August 3rd to August 3rd.

<p data-lazy-src=

03:39

“Yeah, I’m really excited. Obviously, this is my third year in a spin in America and it’s always been a great tour. The fans are great. The facilities are great. The stadium is great. The players were excited when they heard we were coming back to America.

“Playing three Premier League teams over there will be a really competitive game.

This is the second Premier League Summer Series to be held in the US. Two years ago, over 265,000 fans saw a top-flight English team taking part in the first tournament Chelsea won. And that’s what we’re based in United fan Maguire says he’s really looking forward to connecting with this time.

“I think it’s really important for players who play for this club to understand how big we are all around the world and how passionate our fans are in different countries. It’s very important to get the best fans around the world.

This year’s three Premier League summer series venues include four NFL franchises: the Giants and Jets of New York, the Atlanta Falcons and the Chicago Bears. This is the music of Maguire’s international English teammate Harry Kane.

“I’m not as big as he is, I know he’s a huge fan,” Maguire tells CNN. “I’m obviously looking at the Super Bowl and things, but I don’t follow the team. I like sports, but I’m not as close to big fans as Harry. He loves it!”

Gaza Freedom Flotira says the ship issued an SOS after allegedly drone attack off the coast of Malta

0

CNN

Gaza-bound activist aid ship issued an SOS after it sparked a fire and claimed it was a drone attack off the coast of Malta in international waters.

The Freedom Frotilla Union (FFC), which is campaigning to end Israel’s Gaza blockade, said 30 CNNs are on board ships carrying humanitarian aid. When suspicion of the attack occurred shortly after midnight on Friday (6pm on Thursday).

“There is a hole in the boat right now and the boat is sinking,” Union spokesperson Yasemin Acar told CNN over a phone call from Malta on Friday morning.

Acar said the ship had “sent SOS calls to neighboring countries, including Malta,” and that “small boats” had been sent from South Cyprus. She added that she was able to contact the crew after the SOS signal was sent.

The coalition, posted on the VideoX account, appeared to show not only smoke and smoke, but also fires burning on the ship. The sounds of two big explosions can also be heard in another video clip.

CNN cannot independently verify the video.

Maltese troops confirmed that a fire had occurred on the now-destroyed ship. “We are closely monitoring the situation,” a spokesperson told CNN, adding that no one was on board.

“Our ship is currently 17km away from Malta’s coast and has attacked two drone attacks in international waters,” Acar said, adding that the generator on the front of the ship is an obvious target.

“The vessel has 30 international human rights activists on the vessel,” Acar says.

The fleet did not accuse any particular parties of being behind the billed drone attack.

The Marine Transport website shows that the ship, conscience, departed Tunisia on Tuesday night. Tracking data showed it was located at that location for about 12 hours off the coast of Malta before suspected attacks occurred Friday morning. Conscience is listed as flying under the flag of Palau.

FFC’s lead organizer Thiago Avila told CNN that he plans to dock in Malta on Thursday and will pick up additional passengers.

Avila said the organization is about to arrange a small boat to accompany the rescue team to the location of conscience.

“I know the boat is badly damaged,” Avila said.

CNN reached out to the Maltese government and the Cyprus Joint Rescue Coordination Centre.

The Freedom Flotilla Coalition describes itself on its website as an international network of pro-Palestinian activists working to end the Israeli Gaza blockade and provide humanitarian assistance to the besieged enclaves by taking direct and non-violent actions..

Gaza has been under Israeli military siege since October 7, 2023, and Hamas has been a deadly attack on Israel.

Israel imposed a complete humanitarian blockade in Gaza on March 2nd, blocking food, medical supplies and other aid to more than 2 million Palestinians living on the territory.

This is a developing story and will be updated.

Trump asks courts to end Biden’s medical debt rules

0

play

The Consumer Financial Protection Agency is trying to eliminate Biden-era rules that prohibit the inclusion of medical debts in credit reports.

The Consumer Protection Agency sided with the Consumer Data Industry Association and the Cornerstone Credit Union League————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————-

Medical debt rules set forth on the Biden administration’s decline date will prohibit medical obligations on credit reports and prohibit lenders from using a person’s medical debt history to make loan decisions.

The rule was scheduled to come into effect in March, but two trade groups sued the CFPB and suspended the rule, with a US District Court judge in the Eastern District of Texas issued a 90-day stay and effectively postponed the rule’s opening date until June 15th.

Rather than defending the rules, the CFPB filed joint claims with two trade groups. This has been asked District Court Judge Shawn Jordan to eliminate medical debt rules “because it exceeds the department’s statutory authority.”

Consumers fight to maintain medical debt rules

Consumer groups are trying to intervene in the case to comply with medical debt regulations. In an order on April 30, Jordan said it would file legal documents for another week with consumer groups, industry groups and CFPB before deciding on the next step.

The CFPB is also the subject of another court challenge from employees fighting the Trump administration’s efforts to effectively shut down the Consumer Protection Agency. The fight for the future of CFPB raises questions about efforts to curb bank overdraft fees and monitoring digital payment apps.

Consumer advocates worry that CFPB’s choice to abandon the health debt rules could remove a key layer of consumer protection.

“We’ve been working hard to get into the world,” said Patricia Kelmer, senior director of the healthcare campaign at the US PIRG Education Fund.

However, the Consumer Data Industry Association, which represents the Credit Bureau, supported the CFPB’s choice not to defend the medical debt regulations.

“We’re looking forward to seeing you in the future,” said Dan Smith, president and CEO of the association. “Our member companies remain committed to supporting lenders and providing complete and accurate information to provide consumers with access to financial products.”

According to a 2022 report from the CFPB, health costs account for more than half of debt collections on consumer credit records.

The three biggest credit reporting companies have already removed several forms of debt from their credit reports. Paid medical obligations, unpaid medical obligations of less than one year, and medical obligations of less than $500.

Even if the medical debt rules cannot withstand this court’s challenge, Kelmer said there is bipartisan support for the notion of saving consumers from credit disadvantages due to old medical expenses.

“Medical debt is a nonpartisan issue,” Kelmer said. “It’s going to have more impact on middle-income Americans (because they have to pay more at out-of-pocket costs.”

President Donald Trump and Army Planning June 14th Parade

WASHINGTON – The Army is planning a massive parade at the White House request on June 14th – U.S. officials say the service is sharing a birthday with President Donald Trump.

The parade’s plans include armored vehicles such as 6,000 soldiers, helicopters, strikers, Bradley Fighting Vehicles and possibly Abrams M-1 Tanks, officials not allowed to publicly speak.

The Army had planned a big celebration for that 250th Anniversary on June 14th White House officials proposed a parade. The soldiers march at the presidential inauguration event, but it is unclear whether they took part in the president’s birthday celebration. The official warned that plans for the parade remain tentative, but the event appears likely to happen.

The Associated Press first reported its parade plan. It will likely cost millions of dollars, and the parade route will pass through central Washington, D.C. along Constitutional Avenue.

During his first term, Trump appeared in the July 4th celebration in Washington. And the military provided equipment, including Bradley, at his request. He was criticized for politicizing the Independence Day event. There were also concerns about the damage caused to the city’s streets due to heavy armor, so the vehicle remained undisplayed to prevent biting the pavement.

The Army is planning many other events to celebrate non-parade anniversary.

Rafael Nadal, on his return from doping suspension, tells CNN that he believes Giannik Thinner is “100%” innocent

0

CNN

Spanish tennis legend Rafael Nadal only spoke to CNN Sports, where he fully trusts the world’s No. 1 Janik Thinner to be innocent, as Italians prepare to return from doping suspension.

The sinner is nearing the end of the three-month ban, where he tested twice for a banned substance Clostebol, an anabolic steroid, in March last year.

The three-time Grand Slam champion was previously spared from the ban when the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) decided it was not due to positive tests and accepted that the contamination was caused by the application of commercial sprays.

However, the World Anti-Doping Organization (WADA) later filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration of Sport (CAS) and accepted the suspension from February 9th to May 4th.

In a February statement, the sinner said, “I always accept that my team is responsible,” but denied that he is constantly taking prohibited substances.

“First of all, I don’t have all the information, so I don’t have a clear opinion,” Nadal told CNN after winning the Sports Icon Award at this year’s Laureus World Sports Awards.

“First of all, I believe Jannik 100% is innocent. I believe in Jannik 100% because I don’t think Jannik wanted to do something that was not permitted.”

The saga around the sinners has highlighted tennis’s current anti-doping protocols, raising concerns about the possibility of top stars’ priority treatment.

For example, the sinner will not miss an event in the Grand Slam during his ban.

Recently, Serena Williams said that if the same thing happened to her, she was banned for “twenty years” and “the grand slam was taken away.” However, she described the sinner as “fantastic character” and “optimal for sports.”

Meanwhile, Novak Djokovic said the entire case was “not a good image for our sport.”

However, Nadal, who left tennis after a historic career last year, said he has full confidence in the current anti-doping system.

“From my perspective, I really don’t believe it because Giannik was treated differently from others because of his number one in the world,” the 22-time Grand Slam Singles champion said.

“I really believe in this process. I’ve been through 20 years of testing how strict every move is, and I believe in the process.

“I can’t say something else, I can’t think of something else because if not, I don’t think we’re in a fair world, and I really believe we’re in a fair world on this issue.”

Italian Janik Sinner is set to return to court after serving his ban.

Despite his ban, the sinner will become one of his favourites to win his first French open title when the tournament begins at the end of May.

Nadal, who won the record 14 Coupes de Masquetea at Roland Garros, said he hopes that the potential sinner’s victory will not be hurt by questions about his play eligibility.

However, in order for a sinner to claim the title, he must find a way to pass a way like Carlos Alcaraz, who first compared to Nadal.

Not only are they both come from Spain, but they are both formidable in clay, with Alcaraz winning his first French open title last year.

Retired with the 22 Grand Slam Singles Trophy, Nadal said the comparison is natural and holds high hopes that the 21-year-old will be able to reach the top of the sport.

“We’ve all been pressured by the media and by the hope that people have you, but at the end we’re humans and I think we know how to handle it,” Nadal told CNN.

“I don’t think it’s a big deal to hold that pressure for Carlos. He’s a great player and has a great family behind him (he).

“He’s doing great things, I think he has a great career and I’m going to win more if he’s injured. That’s the most important thing. I hope and I really believe he has one of the best careers ever.”

Carlos Alcaraz and Rafa Nadal will be seen at the Laureus World Sports Awards on April 21st.

Nadal said he would occasionally send messages to Alkaraz, but he would always be on hand to provide some advice – he doesn’t think the young people need it.

This is an invitation the 38-year-old may want to expand to all players on the tour and casually learn from his own experiences.

But Nadal has so far resisted following those like Andy Murray, who began coaching after retiring from his playing career.

“In this life, you never say anything,” he said, adding that he enjoyed spending more time with his family without all the trips that come with being on the tour.

“It’s hard to imagine myself doing something like this right now… It’s not my moment. I’m in another moment in my life and I won’t travel with the players.”

Instead, Nadal is pleased to continue developing a tennis academy, which is beginning to breed success throughout the game, increasing the already impressive tennis legacy of the Spaniards.

And even after retiring, Nadal has not stopped picking up the trophies. In addition to being awarded the aforementioned Laureus Sporting Icon Award, the Spaniard will also be recognized at this year’s French Open ceremony.

“The outcome is the outcome. You know. I won what I won, I lost what I lost, that’s the outcome and no one can change it,” Nadal said he asks what he wants to remember for now that his playing days are behind him.

“Of course I am remembered as a great tennis player, but for me it is important to remember as a good person, a player who fights as hard as possible, but fights with positive values, as always as a fair and right person.

“That’s the most important thing for me.”

Who was the mysterious “air-drying pastor” and how did he die? New analysis provides answers

CNN

The unusually preserved set of human remains has long been a rich source of rumors and speculation, as they are kept in the basement of churches in a remote alpine village.

Local lore suggested that the body of a mummy, believed to be an 18th-century clergy who succumbed to infectious diseases, was recovered from the tomb a few years after his death and moved to the basement of St. Thomas am Brassenstein, a church in the north village of the Danube River north of Austria’s Danube.

With the skin and tissues intact, the miraculous preservation of the body is early and early in the attracted pilgrims who thought that the body might confer healing properties. Centuries later, capsule-shaped objects discovered in x-ray scans of mummies reveal that the clergy may have met at a more ominous end, suggesting that he may have been poisoned.

Now, a team of scientists are offering new insights into many of the unanswered questions surrounding the mystical mummy called “air-dried pastors.” The revelation comes after a recent renovation was encouraged by a leak in the basement.

“We took mummies for several months to get tested with a specialist team, CT scans, etc. During that time they had time to renovate,” said Andreas Nerich, a professor of medicine at the University of Munich at Ludwig-Massimilian University in Germany. “It was a good situation for both parties. We got a mummy long enough to do a perfect analysis.”

Through CT scans, radiocarbon dating, and chemical analysis of bone and tissue samples, Nerlich and his colleagues were able to confirm the mummy’s identity and determine the unique way in which the body was preserved for a very long time. Researchers reported their findings in a paper published in the Frontier Medicine on Friday.

The mummy's appearance from front (a) and back (b) showed no incision in the body.

The biggest surprise of this study came from the results of a CT scan. Scientists have found mummy’s abdominal and pelvic cavity packed with materials stuffed with fir and spruce wood, linen, hemp and flax cloth wood chips. Additional toxicological analysis revealed traces of zinc chloride and other elements.

“It was really unexpected as the body walls were completely unharmed,” he said.

To explain this obvious contradiction, the team theorized that the material is likely to be inserted through the rectum. And researchers believe it is a mix of materials that kept the mummy in its apparent air-dry state.

“There’s water (bonded) between the chips and fabric. Zinc chloride has a drying effect and would have reduced the load on bacteria in the intestine,” Nerlich said.

This approach to preservatives is different from the well-known method used in ancient Egypt, where the body needs to be opened. Nerlich added that no techniques seen in clergy were reported in the scientific literature either.

He said that the method, although not recorded in textbooks at the time, may have been widely used in the 18th century to preserve corpses for transportation and viewing.

Mummification practices likely have been much broader and more diverse in the past, said Gino Casparri, an archaeologist and editor of Mummy Book: An Introduction to the Realm of the Dead.

Examining with new interdisciplinary analytical techniques, mummies provide a richer source of research into the past than purely skeletal ruins, Caspari added. “We can gain a lot of knowledge from the mummy ruins, ranging from disease and medical research to cultural aspects such as material use and death and attitudes towards the body,” said Casparri, who was not involved in the study.

It is clear that “air-dried pastors” are not natural mummies, but more detailed analysis is needed to clearly state whether zinc chloride was used to maintain the remains, says Marco Samadelli, a senior researcher at EURAC Research, a private laboratory in Borzano.

Smadeli noted that small amounts of arsenic, a well-known preservative, were also detected in mummies.

Researchers discovered materials (left) such as small wooden chips and flax cloth stuffed inside the mummified body, and a glass ball was discovered in the left pelvis.

The team concluded that the mummified body was the body of Franz Xaver Sidler von Rosenegg, a nobleman who was a monk before becoming a parish minister of St. Thomas Ambrussenstein.

He died in 1746 at the age of 37 at the post. Among locals, the mummy was rumoured to be a Sidler, but the study found no written evidence of its effectiveness.

Radiocarbon dating of specimens was placed in his final year between 1734 and 1780, and body analysis suggested age of death from 30 to 50 years, with the most reasonable span between 35 and 45 years. In both cases, the date is consistent with what is known about the end of Sidler, the study states.

Furthermore, studies of carbon and nitrogen variants (carbon and nitrogen variants) that reflect the plant or animal protein consumed from bone samples taken from mummy spine revealed high-quality diets based on grains and most meat.

“This is in line with the expected rural food supply of local parish pastors,” the study author wrote in his paper, adding that the lack of skeletal stress fits the life of a priest who lacks stiff physical activity.

However, this study found that towards the end of the clergy’s life, he likely had experienced a food shortage caused by the ongoing war of Austrian succession at that time.

Pastors who had long-term smoking habits were not poisoned, the study determined. Instead, researchers believe he was suffering from chronic tuberculosis and may have killed him by causing acute pulmonary bleeding.

Inside the mummy, researchers found a small glass ball with holes at each end. It’s probably part of a set of rosary beads that have been accidentally trapped in preservatives. According to Nerlich, the item was a bullet-shaped object picked up by an X-ray that raised suspicions of a toxic capsule in the early 2000s.

Similarly, the team could not find evidence that the body had been buried and excavated, Nerlich added. Perhaps the body was 15km (9.3 miles) ready to return to the pastor’s “Mother Abbey,” but for reasons lost in time, the body was left in the church’s basement and never made it on a final journey.

Trump’s Stable Coin was chosen with a $2 billion investment in Vinance

The stupidity launched by Donald Trump’s World Liberty Financial Crypto Venture is being used by the Abu Dhabi investment company for a $2 billion investment in Crypto Exchange Binance, one of the co-founders of the world’s Liberty co-founders said on May 1.

This is the latest in the Trump family’s series of crypto-related ventures, including “Memecoin,” which has attracted criticism from government ethics experts and political opponents of potential conflicts of interest.

World Liberty, which aims to make people accessible to financial services without intermediaries like banks, said it will launch USD1 in March.

At a crypto conference held in Dubai, World Freedom co-founder Zach Witkov said USD1 will be used to shut down Abu Dhabi-based MGX’s $2 billion investment to Binance, the world’s largest crypto exchange.

“We look forward to announce that USD1 has been selected as the official stubcoin to shut down MGX’s $2 billion investment in vinance,” said Witkov, son of Steve Witkov, the son of Trump’s special envoy in the Middle East.

Democrat Sen. Elizabeth Warren has been sharply criticizing the venture before the Republican-controlled Senate, pending US laws on US legislation.

Warren, a member of the US Senate Banking Committee, said: “The Senate, meanwhile, is preparing to pass the “genius” law that makes it easier for the president and his family to line up in their own pockets. This is corruption and the senators should not support it. ”

The White House and World Liberty Financial did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

The use of USD1 in this transaction highlights the influence and connection of the growing global freedom in the global crypto industry. USD1 is issued on Binance’s blockchain.

Stablecoins are an increasingly advantageous cog in global crypto trading. Their issuers usually benefit from earning interest from the Treasury Department and other assets that support them.

USD1 in circulation reached around $2.1 billion on Wednesday, making it one of the fastest growing, silly idiotic, according to CoinmarketCap data. However, the identities of the major holders remain unknown.

An anonymous cryptocurrency wallet, which holds $2 billion worth of USD1, received funds between April 16th and 29 years, according to data from crypto investigator Arkham. Reuters could not confirm the owner of the wallet.

According to a photo posted on social media site X on Sunday, Changpeng Zhao, founder and former CEO of Vinance, met two other World Freedom co-founders, Zach Witkoff and Abu Dhabi, after admitting to the US last year that he violated US law.

“I’m glad to meet our friend,” said Abu Dhabi’s photo, posting Zhao in response to a photo tagged with Witkov.

Zhao, who resigned from his role at Binance in 2023 as part of a $4.3 billion settlement with the US over illegal fiscal fees, remains a major shareholder in Binance.

Tron Blockchain Integration

Separately, Zach Witkoff has announced that USD1 will be integrated into Tron, the blockchain of Hong Kong-based Crypto entrepreneur Justin Sun.

According to a social media post, Sun is the biggest investor in world freedom and a venture advisor, and has poured at least $75 million into the project.

Sun was fighting a US securities fraud lawsuit during his first investment in world freedom. In February, the Securities and Exchange Commission suspended the lawsuit against him, citing public interest.

The Sun eased the panel Witkov spoke on Thursday, and Trump’s son Eric Trump also took to the stage.

Promising to become “crypto president,” the president has pledged to overhaul federal rules on crypto.

Trump handed over his assets to his children before returning to the White House, and he would not play a role in daily decision-making, his company said.
