New York – The biggest night of fashion at the Met Gala.

The annual Met Gala returns to 2025 on the first Monday in May at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This year’s Met Ball is an A-list talented invitation-only event that will fund and respond to the museum’s costume lab and its spring exhibit, Superfine: Tailing Black Style.

The exhibition and evening dress code “Tailared for You” highlights black dandyism. With celebrities attendees including A$AP Rocky, Spike Lee, Janelle Monaé, Ausher and more, we hope to see a red carpet filled with Immaculate suits, custom couture and inventive tailings that focus on black history and personal style.

Met Gala 2024: Zendaya’s costume change, Usher explains his appearance

The star appeared at the 2024 Met Gala. Anika Reed from USA Today had front row seats in the action and chatted with Asher about his appearance.

USA Today has exclusive locations on the red carpet, so follow all the top moments of the night.

Rizzo grabbed the phone at the top of the stairs and pulled it to the side to film a video of Tiktok.

One of the event’s co-chairs, Farrell arrives cooler than ever before in a pearl-covered suit jacket and sunglasses, with his wife rocking LV tights supporting the designer husband. His jacket had 15,000 pearls, which took 400 hours to create.

Diana Ross knows how to make an epic entrance. On an 18-foot long train, the permanent diva was surprised by a white feathered cape over a gem-adored gown.

She was pinched by her son Evan Ross, who helped her adjust her oversized feather hat.

Debbie Allen told USA Today on the blue carpet that she channels “a night of elegance, blackness and cultural identity.”

When asked her ideal black dandy, she didn’t miss the beat and immediately said “Norman Nixon” and saw her husband for over four years.

“You’re looking at him.”

Gigi Hadid celebrated his 30th birthday and developed a relationship with the Bradley Cooper Instagram official, turning gold in the old Hollywood Updo.

Lewis Hamilton heads to the top of the Metstep, with a cream-colored tuxedo and matching bow tie and hat, almost as fast as driving a race car.

Colman Domingo arrives at the Cape and later reveals a perfectly tailored suit.

Domingo concluded the early arrival of the co-chair with a cleverly tailored, glittering black and silver suit jacket. Missing from the arrival of the co-chair: A$AP Rocky and Rihanna. Maybe they’ll close the carpet again like they did in 2023?

The actor tracked the appearance in an ensemble featuring a more modest but equally great – a pearl weathered blazer, a polka dot handkerchief tie and a flower brooch.

Earlier that day, in a media preview of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute’s Spring Exhibition, “Superfin: Black Style Tailoring, Domingo recalls his brother, stepfather, biological father and three men who shaped his sense of fashion.

One of the hosts of Vogue Livestream, Lala Anthony is in an off-white archive by the late Virgil Abloh.

Anna Wintour arrives in her signature blonde bob and pale blue coat above her white gown. The top Vogue editors have revolutionized the Met Gala since they were at the helm in the 90s, making it one of the top events of the year.

Teyana Taylor is one of the early arrivals as a trendy livestream host, wearing a wine-colored, strong-shouldered cape over a black suit with complementary durag, top hat, cane and gloves.

Along with adjusting her expression on the carpet, there is Oscar-winning costume designer Ruth E. Carter.

Chamberlain may break the internet with this dapper flock.

Social media personalities were surprised by the red carpet wearing sophisticated pinstripe dresses that reflected the vivid tailoring of menswear suits. The dress’s halter collar and the flowing train feature a refreshing, feminine twist on the black dandy theme.

Rain or shine, stars appear for Met Gala 2025

Despite forecasts for rain for the first Monday of May, the star is set to appear in one of the biggest events of the year.

This year’s carpet is dotted with white and yellow anemone Honorin Jobert flowers blooming in the green surrounded by the famous Metsteps. The usual bustling 5th Avenue, usually packed with onlookers across the street, could potentially mark the arrival of VVIP at some point this year.

Met Gala 2025 Theme: Black Dandyism

This theme coincides with Superfine: Tailing Black Style, a spring exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute. This is described as “300 years of black-style cultural and historical inspections through the concept of dandyism.”

Inspired by Monica L. Miller’s 2009 book, Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and The Styling of Black Diasporic Identity, the exhibition theme explores how a multicultural blend of African and European styles informs black identities. Black dandyism became a practice in which blacks, especially black men, used the power of personal style as a form of resistance, and used methods to push back social restrictions and negative perceptions in terms of race, class, gender and sexuality.

What time does the Met Gala start?

The gala, which was held on the first Monday of May, will be held on May 5th. Usually, the carpet is kicked off on the first arrival around 5pm and covers broadcasts and streams from 6pm

Gala Weekend Met: Celebrities hit parties, events

The days leading up to the Met Gala became a sight to be seen, with stars running around New York, mixing together.

Over the weekend we found a brown vest on his white button-down shirt with a dandy style with singer Leonbridge, pinker and a third level winding up of the winding lamp at the Guggenheim Museum at the One-Time Event of design brand Wels Bonner.

With Balmain designers Olivieru Sting and Johnnie Walker Fate, singer Burna Boy made an early exit, dripping and shaking diamonds.

Met Gala Origins: Princess Diana and more participating fundraising event

The benefits of the Costume Institute, commonly known as the Met Gala, is a fundraiser for the Costume Institute, a museum that boasts a collection of over 33,000 fashion artifacts.

Met Gala has grown to the over-the-top level of what it is today thanks to Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour, who began as a “Midnight Dinner” in 1948 and took over in 1995.

Met Gala 2024 saw Zendaya and Kim Kardashian on the red carpet

The Metropolitan Museum of Art Steps matched the colours of white roses and green and the carpet itself, and brought it to life in 2024 for the evening theme “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.”

Zendaya, one of the co-chairs of the evening, appeared in two fantastic looks to help open and wrap the carpet. Other highlights include Gigi Hadid, Ausher, Mindy Kaling, Tyla, Kim Kardashian and Lana Del Rey.

I met the theme of Gala over the years.

Met Gala has a clear theme to accommodate the Costume Institute exhibition that year. Looking back on the past decade:

Israel is attacking Yemen’s target for the first time in months.

0

Jerusalem
CNN

Israel attacked its target in Yemen on Monday night, saying Israeli forces fired a ballistic missile that hit Israel’s major airport the day after Iranians supported it.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to retaliate on Israel’s chosen location and location, promising a strong response on Sunday.

The Houthi Run Health ministry said at least one person was killed and another 35 were injured in an Israeli strike at Bajil cement factory in eastern Hodeidah.

The Israeli Defense Force (IDF) said 20 fighters had joined the mission — the first Israeli strike in Yemen in a matter of months — would hit the targets of dozens of Hoodeida and the surrounding area.

“The port of Hodeida is being used to relocate Iranian weapons, equipment for military purposes and other terrorist-related needs,” the IDF said in a statement. Israeli fighter jets also targeted cement plants east of Hodeida for use in building tunnels and military infrastructure, according to the IDF.

Al-Masirah of the Houthi Run TV channel said Hodeidah Port had been attacked at least six times, confirming an attack on a nearby cement factory.

Israeli forces made several attempts to intercept the ballistic missile launched in Tel Aviv on Sunday, but were unable to defeat it, resulting in successful attacks on the much-protected facility. This strike appears to be the first time an Israeli international airport has successfully targeted a group’s target.

On Sunday night, Iran-backed rebel groups said they would “impose a comprehensive air lockdown” on Israel by “recurring targets at airports.” It called for international airlines to cancel all scheduled flights at Israeli airports, which they planned accordingly.

Netanyahu convened Israeli security cabinet on Sunday afternoon to discuss the incident.

“We’ve acted before, we’ll act in the future too,” Netanyahu said in a video posted on social media. “I can’t go into detail about all of that. The US works with us to work with them. It’s “not alone,” he said.

Israel began several strikes against Yemen’s Houtsis in January, including targeting power plants and sea ports. The US military has implemented much broader strikes against Yemeni targets in recent months, hoping to weaken the group and disrupt the Hooty attacks on US naval and commercial vessels operating in the Middle East.

Israeli Air Force fighter jets before targeting Yemen's Houthi on Monday, May 5th.

However, the attacks barely hindered the launch of the Hooty projectiles at the Israeli or the Red Sea US warships and at Bab al-Mandeb, two of the world’s most strategically important waterways. Houthis launched ballistic missiles in Israel for three consecutive days, leading to a strike that raided the airport. Last week, the US F/A-18 fighter jet fell from a carrier of aircraft in the Red Sea after the ship made a fierce turn to avoid a Houthi attack.

“The whole world is being challenged by the Housis,” Netanyahu told Cyprus President Nicos Cristodoudilez on Sunday. “We don’t tolerate it. We take very strong actions against them, and they always remember acting in the direction and support of their guardian Iran.”

Houthis warned on Sunday night that they could attack again and “impose a comprehensive air seal” on Israel by “repeated targeting airports.” It called for international airlines to cancel all scheduled flights at Israeli airports, which they planned accordingly.

Warren Buffett could have made you a billionaire: How is this?

0

play

The Omaha oracles give him the last words of wisdom.

At the age of 94, investment icon Warren Buffett surprised investors, and announced on Saturday that he would step down as CEO by the end of the year at the final moments of Berkshire Hathaway’s 60th Annual Meeting. He will remain chairman of the company, but Vice-Chair Greg Abel will take over the CEO post from January 1, 2026.

What is Buffett’s legacy?

Buffett took over Berkshire in 1965 with a value approach to investment. Value investments include focusing on identifying and purchasing stocks that are below perceived essential or fair value. He then launched investment partnerships with various business ventures.

Since he took over Berkshire, the company’s per share value has deteriorated at a rate of 19.9%, nearly twice the average annual average annual on the Broad S&P 500, resulting in a return of 5,502,284% of shareholders through 2024, according to the company’s annual report. This is comparable to the 39,054% of the S&P 500 earning dividends over the same period.

If you invest $10,000 in Berkshire Hathaway in 1965, your investment is worth about $1 billion.

Berkshire Hathaway is currently the seventh largest company in the S&P 500 with a market capitalization of around $1.1 trillion.

Up until the year, Berkshire Hathaway stocks continue to outperform. They’ve grown by over 13%, reducing the S&P 500 by 4%.

What investments is Buffett known for?

Some of his most advantageous holdings include Coca-Cola and Apple. Berkshire bought a share in Coca-Cola nearly 40 years ago and continues to own shares in the beverage giant.

“When we own a great business with excellent management, our favorite retention period is eternal,” he wrote in his annual letter to shareholders that year.

He bought Apple in 2016, but in 2024 he significantly cut stakes in the iPhone maker. He was a passive buyer of tech stocks, but was reportedly partially shaken by the hold that Apple saw it had to its customers. It turned out to be one of his best investments.

“Tim Cook (Apple CEO) says he made much more money than he’s ever made Berkshire,” he said at Berkshire Hathaway’s annual meeting.

Buffett and taxes

The investment guru also famously discussed in a 2012 ABC interview with ABC that the secretary paid a tax rate of 17.4% to highlight tax inequality in the tax system, the fact that he paid a tax rate of 35.8% of his income.

Buffett has long defended tax reform and believes that wealthy people should pay their fair share. He said that taxation systems unfairly benefit the wealthy, but rather than following the law, they blame individuals, rather than blaming the US Congress.

Skecher Privately Responsible to 3G Capital with the Biggest Footwear Acquisition to date | Retail Industry

0

Skechers has agreed to 3G Capital privately for $9.4 billion (£7 billion) in the footwear industry’s biggest acquisition to date, and will leave the national market in 26 years as popular shoe brands tackle the sudden impact of US tariffs.

Investment company 3G Capital is offering $63 (£47) per Skechers Share in Skechers on Monday. This represents the stock’s 28% premium at the end of Friday, according to Reuters calculations.

Skechers shares rose 25% to $61.86 on the news at $61.86, regaining some ground as they retracted their annual outcome forecast in April this year and warned of fallout from President Donald Trump’s 145% import duties.

China accounts for the majority of the brand’s US business.

Needham analyst Tom Nikic said talks on the deal could have been accelerated by tariffs, weakened consumer sentiment and the volatile macro environment of troubled relationships with China, and the company may have hoped to navigate these challenges under Wall Street scrutiny.

Skechers, Nike and Adidas America are among the companies that have urged Trump to exempt shoes from mutual tariffs as US companies face higher costs and shoppers step up their spending on potential spending in price increases.

Founded in 1992, California-based Skechers started out as a brand focused on men’s street style with the launch of the popular shoe chrome dome, but has now become known for its comfortable sneakers.

The company is fighting tough competition with legacy brands such as Nike and new participants such as Hoka, focusing on its aggressive global expansion and value. The prices for that shoe range from $75 (£56) to $150 (£113) on the website, with around 5,000 retailers in over 120 countries.

Marketing alliances with celebrities, including Britney Spears and Kim Kardashian, have also helped the brand to enhance its appeal and remain relevant.

Nikic said the deal was “very surprising” because Skechers has always been considered family-owned and the founding Greenberg family is very involved in the business.

Sources said Reuters Skeheses does not run the auction and the deal was bilateral as 3G Capital has a long relationship with Greenberg.

Skip past newsletter promotions

The 85-year-old company’s CEO and founder, Robert Greenberg, will continue to lead the company, with President Michael Greenberg and executive director David Weinberg also continuing their roles.

3G Capital, the acquisition company controlled by Brazilian billionaire financier Jorge Paulo Leman, is best known for its investment in the food and drink sector through companies such as Kraftheinz.

“The playbook, which has boosted margins through cost reductions and efficiency in 3G, will certainly create the possibility that Skecher will be re-published in the distant future,” said an analyst at TD Cowen.

Skechers’ transactions are expected to close in the third quarter of 2025 and will be funded by a combination of cash provided by 3G capital and debt funds committed by JP Morgan Chase.

Trump will suspend this virus research fund for China after Covid-19

Trump’s executive order, which deals with a kind of biomedical research, is at a time when tensions with China over tariffs have risen.

play

  • Trump has suspended biological research funding for enemies such as China and Iran due to concerns about Covid-19 that was born in a Chinese lab.

WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump has signed an executive order to suspend federal funds for a kind of biomedical research in China and Iran, aiming to prevent the development of another pandemic, such as Covid-19.

Trump and several federal agencies have long theorized that the pandemic began at the Wuhan Virology Institute.

“It can leak innocently, foolishly, incompetently, and half of it could destroy the world,” Trump told White House reporters.

His executive order targeted the elimination of what is called gain of function. This is studying how viruses become more potent. The US funded such research at the Uhan Institute in the city where the first outbreak was reported. However, the competing theory is that a person somehow contacted an infected animal.

According to the White House, Trump’s order, signed on May 5, aims to:

  • Ends current and all federal funding for gain-of-function research in countries of concern, such as China and Iran, where Trump thought research surveillance was inadequate.
  • Reduces the possibility of lab-related incidents such as the Chinese bat coronavirus.
  • Protects Americans from lab accidents and other biosecurity incidents.

Covid-19 “probably emerged” in China without government warning: US intelligence

Gain of Function studies how pathogens such as avian influenza and severe acute respiratory syndrome evolve to become more potent or contagious.

However, according to the World Health Organization, determining the cause of Covid-19, which killed an estimated 7 million people around the world, to shut down the global economy, was politically frugk due to tensions between the US and China.

The US intelligence reporting community published an uncategorized assessment by November 2019 that it believed “probably occurred, infected people emerged, and infected people emerged” through small-scale exposures. The agency split whether the exposure came from the lab or from natural exposure to infected animals.

The intelligence community determined that “the virus has not been developed as a biological weapon,” and Chinese officials determined they had no knowledge of the virus before the initial outbreak.

Mao Ning, a spokesman for China’s Foreign Ministry, told reporters in January that World Health Organization experts felt the pandemic was “very unlikely” caused by lab leaks.

“The US needs to stop politicization and tracking the origins of weapons at once, stopping scapegoing for others,” Nin said.

After signing the order, Trump spoke about his theory of the origins of Covid-19, saying he believes it was caused by a leak in China’s lab from “the first day.” He suggested that the scientist “was out to have lunch with his girlfriend and stayed with a lot of people.”

“That’s the way it leaked in my opinion and I’ve never changed that opinion,” Trump said.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr., director of Health and Human Services, who Trump had been on hand for signing the order, pointed to a leak from the Wuhan Institute as a possible source of information for the pandemic.

“There are no labs that are immune to leaks, which we intend to prevent such careless leaks from occurring in the future and putting humanity at risk,” Kennedy said. “And this executive order is a precaution against us for being involved in this type of research in the future.”

Vaccine producers disagree with whether gain-of-function research is essential to vaccine development, so the National Institutes of Health said that contributions to vaccine development require careful evaluation. However, Kennedy was skeptical.

“In all of the history of gain-of-function research, we can’t refer to the one good thing that it came,” Kennedy said.

Singer shows off baby bumps before the Met Gala

How will the top reveal pregnancy at the Super Bowl halftime show? By revealing her pregnancy at the Met Gala on Monday, Rihanna said.

The singer, 37, is looking for a third child with partner A$AP Rocky. Before arriving at the May 5th event, Rihanna had shown visible baby bumps in numerous photos, including ones shared on Instagram by photographer Miles Diggs.

“Shower Chance,” Diggs captioned the photo. It showed the Grammy Award winner walking through New York with an umbrella.

USA Today contacted Rihanna’s representative.

Rihanna revealed her second pregnancy in an equally famous way by showing off her baby bump while performing at the 2023 Super Bowl Halftime Show.

News of Rihanna’s third pregnancy comes after she shared a throwback photo in March, when she showed her in the delivery room when she gave birth to two sons she shared with Rocky.

“Yes, I gave birth with pearls and sunglasses… Don’t ask, a lot of things were going on,” she captioned the photo.

Rihanna is expected to appear in the 2025 Met Gala. There, other co-chairs include singer-songwriter and fashion designer Pharrell Williams, Oscar-nominated actor Colman Domingo and British race car driver Lewis Hamilton – all beacons in black style according to the theme.

NBA superstar LeBron James, though absent from the event itself, is co-chairing the honor. James announced on social media Monday that he will sit down with the gala, citing a knee injury he suffered when the Los Angeles Lakers lost to the Minnesota Timberwolves in last week’s NBA Playoff Series.

Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour has changed her role as co-chair.

Rihanna’s history with the Met Gala

Rihanna previously skipped last year’s “Garden in Garden” themed Met Gala.

For many years, the musician, who has her own make-up and lingerie empire, has established herself as someone to watch in fashion fundraisers. With a bold, often young look, Rihanna’s arrival soon became a great punctuation mark for the evening.

She co-chaired the event in 2018 along with Wintour, Donatera Versace and Amal Clooney.

How many children does Rihanna have?

Rihanna and $AP Rocky welcomed their second child, a son named Riot, in 2023, after announcing their pregnancy at the Super Bowl Halftime Show that year.

The Grammy Award winner took to the stage in an outfit showing off her baby bump. She and A$AP Rocky welcomed their first child, son Rza Athelston Mayers together in 2022.

This is the time to expect an increase in the benefits of your social security fair practices

0

play

During his final days in office, President Joe Biden signed the Social Security Equity Act, increasing federal retirement benefits for 3.2 million American seniors. If you were among them, you were probably waiting enthusiastically to arrange your check.

As of April 25th, the Social Security Administration has processed 2.3 million benefits adjustments. But even so, about 900,000 Americans are waiting for extra money. If you’re among them or you think you might be, here’s what you need to know.

Social Security Administration handles complex cases manually

More than 80% of seniors affected by the Social Security Equity Act have already undergone benefits adjustments. The government automates the process of calculating most of them, and thus it was able to make all of these changes very quickly. However, some seniors’ cases were more complicated and could not be handled by automated processes. These people have not yet begun receiving adjusted payments.

Actual government officials will need to manually handle each of these more complicated benefits. This will take time. If you have plans for bumps thanks to the Social Security Fairness Act but don’t see any increase in payments in April, beware of notifications from the Social Security Agency. You will need to be notified when you adjust your monthly benefits. This notification should tell you how big the check will be.

You are also entitled to a one-time retroactive payment, dating back to January 2024, the effective date of the law. If you claim profits during this period, you will receive a lump sum to compensate for the difference between what you received and what you qualify under the Social Security Equity Act.

Currently, the Social Security Administration releases retroactive payments and adjusts monthly benefits on a rolling basis. We hope that by early November, all affected beneficiaries’ records will be broken.

What if I have questions about the Social Security Equality Act?

Most seniors do not believe that their profits will change under the Social Security Equity Act. This applies only to those who previously withhold money from their checks based on the Windfall Elimination Provemion (WEP) or Government Pension Settlement (GPO). These were applied to retirees who received pensions from employers who did not pay Social Security. Many teachers, police officers and firefighters are among those affected, but many of these occupations do not qualify for increased benefits.

If you are unsure whether the Social Security Equality Act should apply to you, you can contact the Social Security Agency and ask. However, you will need to prepare for long phone waits and extended waits to schedule in-person appointments at the field office.

If you know you are affected by the Social Security Fairness Act, make sure your agent has the correct address and direct deposit information in your hand. The fastest way to do this is through my Social Security account online.

If you don’t have any of these yet, it will only take a few minutes to set up. You need a Social Security number and you need to answer some identity questions. Once that’s done, you can set your username and password for faster logins next time.

Be aware of the benefits of each month. In rare cases, people receive revised payments before receiving notifications from the Social Security Agency. If you reach November and still have your payments appear the same, call to find out what’s going on with your profits.

Trump White House says “no final decision” on foreign film tariffs | Trump tariffs

0

The White House said Monday that no final decision has been made on imposing tariffs on foreign films a day after Donald Trump declared 100% tariffs on all films produced outside the United States.

“While there hasn’t been a final decision on foreign film tariffs, the administration is exploring all the options to implement President Trump’s direction to protect our country’s national and economic security while making Hollywood great again.”

The US President announced the tariffs on his true social platform, claiming that the Department of Commerce and US trade representatives had allowed them to immediately begin the process of establishing a 100% tariff on all films that come to our country, produced on foreign lands.

In his Sunday post, Trump provided little detail on how such trade punishments would work, but warned that the US film industry is “losing very fast deaths,” saying that other countries “providing all the incentives to separate filmmakers and studios from the United States.”

“We’re working on that,” Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick wrote on X on Sunday evening.

The announcement sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry.

On Monday, shares in US streaming platforms and production companies fell as uncertainty loomed, especially as Trump Post didn’t say whether tariffs would apply to movies distributed to streaming platforms.

Netflix stocks fell 1.7% by early afternoon, while Amazon fell 1.5%. Warner Bros Discovery and Paramount fell by 1.1% and 1% respectively.

In Australia and New Zealand, it serves as the leading production hub for global franchises such as the Lord of the Rings series, Tolkienesque cousin, the Hobbit and various Marvel films, and lawmakers from those countries responded that they would defend their respective film industry.

Australia’s Home Minister Tony Burke said he had spoken with the head of the government’s body screens about Australia’s proposal and “no one will stand up clearly for the rights of the Australian screen industry.”

And New Zealand’s Prime Minister Christopher Luxon said, “We’ll have to look at the details of what will eventually emerge. But we’re clearly the great advocates of that field in that industry and become great champions.”

In the UK, lawmakers also warned that such tariffs “is not in the interest of American companies,” and the UK Media Coalition Bectu urged the UK government to protect the country’s “critical” film sector, warning that employment of tens of thousands of freelances could be at risk.

Sunday’s announcement follows Trump’s previous pledge to boost the US film industry. However, according to the Hollywood Reporter, the White House began walking the Trump announcement Monday afternoon.

Shortly before taking office, Trump appointed actors John Voight, Sylvester Stallone and Mel Gibson as Hollywood’s “special ambassadors.”

The Associated Press reported that it is common for major blockbusters and small-scale films to film the scene both in the US and internationally. Large projects often span multiple countries.

According to the Associated Press, the incentive program has influenced the creation of films, increasingly promoting California-to-state film production, which offers more favorable tax incentives, such as Canada and the UK.

Film and television production in LA, a nonprofit that tracks production in the Los Angeles area, has fallen nearly 40% over the past decade, according to Filmla.

Trump’s announcement on Sunday comes after he caused a trade war with China, imposing global tariffs, unsettling global markets, and fears about the possibility of a US recession.

In April, China, now the world’s second largest film market after the US, responded to Trump’s tariffs on Chinese products by reducing the country’s allowable quotas for American films.

Trump Administrators Separate Harvard from the New Federal Research Grant

0

Federal funding for student financial aid will not be affected by the change, the agency said.

play

WASHINGTON – The Trump administration is blocking new federal research grants to Harvard University in yet another escalation of the White House attack on one of the nation’s most prestigious universities.

Education Secretary Linda McMahon wrote a letter to Harvard President Alan Gerber on May 5th to inform them that the federal government would no longer approve the new research grant.

She cited concerns over an anti-Semitism incident on campus in order to refuse to continue providing taxpayer dollars to fund world-class research at the university.

“This letter tells Harvard University should not no longer seek federal grants. “Harvard will become a publicly funded institution and instead operate as a privately funded facility, using its enormous donations and raising funds from large bases of wealthy alumni.”

However, the change will not end all federal funds at Harvard. Officials from the senior education department said on Monday in a call with reporters that only research funds will be affected. He said that financial aid for federal students would not be affected.

The White House frozen more than $2 billion in university federal research funds in April after Harvard refused to adhere to government demands for overhauling employment, education and admissions practices. Harvard leaders sued the Trump administration denounced aggression over academic freedom.

“The lawsuit includes government efforts to use federal funds withholding as a exploitation to gain control over academic decision-making at Harvard,” the university said in its lawsuit.

Harvard did not immediately respond to requests for comment on Monday’s letter.

Three policemen were shot dead in Dagestan, Russia

Moscow
Reuters

Three police officers were killed and at least four were injured when gunmen fired on police in the Dagestan area of southern Russia, local authorities said.

Dagestan leader Sergei Melikov said the shooting took place when a traffic officer tried to pull a car the assailants were driving.

The attack occurred around 2pm local time in the region’s capital, Makachalalla, the Interior Ministry said.

Two shooters were killed, a city administration spokesman wrote in Telegram. He identified them by name and said they were both born in 2000.

It was not immediately clear how many shooters were involved. The other assailants fled in their cars, state media reported.

Videos published on the Telegram channel and verified by Reuters showed multiple bodies lying on the streets of the city next to the police vehicle. More gunshots can be heard in the street as passersby stop to inspect them.

Several civilians, including two other shooters, two police officers, two police officers, including a 17-year-old girl, and a 17-year-old girl, were brought to the hospital, according to state media. Authorities have opened criminal cases on the case.

Dagestan, a predominantly Muslim region, has suffered from several deadly attacks in recent years.

In March, counterterrorism forces killed four militants from the Islamic State (ISIS), who said authorities were planning to attack regional branches of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Why Ishares Bitcoin Trust ETF garnered 14% in April

0

play

Bitcoin Stocks (Cryptography: BTC)-Facused Exchange Traded Fund Isles Bitcoin Trust ETF (NASDAQ: I’m off) According to data from S&P Global Market Intelligence, it rose 14.3% in April.

ibit is the most traded liquid Bitcoin ETF and is operated by BlackRock (NYSE: BLK)the world’s largest asset manager. IBIT is essentially a way of purchasing Bitcoin through traditional custody entities, whose value tends to accurately reflect the price of Bitcoin.

Bitcoin, like gold, is often advertised as a store of value and hedge against geopolitical disasters and runaway inflation. However, Bitcoin has not actually traded that way in the past. Bitcoin performance typically reflects the performance of speculative technology stocks during past recessions.

However, the unique dynamics following the tariffs on April 2nd “liberation day” have made Bitcoin actually display differentiated performance tips against high-tech stocks Like tech stocks, it recovered as the trade war faded towards the end of the month.

Has Bitcoin finally become a value store?

Until April 2nd, Bitcoin had a rather terrible year, and in anticipation of the tariff announcement on April 2nd, it was performing relatively side-by-side with the NASDAQ Composite Index.

Interestingly, following the announcement of tariffs on April 2, Bitcoin collapsed, but not as much as tech stocks did. Then, from about April 8th to April 21st, Bitcoin was actually highly praised.

ibit data from ycharts

After April 2nd, some unusual things have happened. Long-term bond yields rose even as the dollar fell. Typically, as US government bonds rise, the dollar strengthens. However, after the tariff announcement, bonds rose, but the dollar fell. This was usually an emerging market phenomenon, and it was likely signaling international investors selling US assets as the US became viewed as a source of risk.

It’s probably not surprising that Bitcoin, which some consider to be a value alternative, has recovered, as the US Treasury Department probably doesn’t see as a safe haven and the dominance of the dollar in question.

What’s interesting is that on April 22nd, Treasury Secretary Scott Bescent said there would be a “de-expansion” with China, and Stocks went through a major relief rally. Gold prices, which were highly valued all year round, fell slightly due to lower risk. But Bitcoin actually rallied alongside technology stocks.

So it appears that Bitcoin had the best in both worlds in April. It served somewhat as a hedge against weak dollars and US financial instability, but “risk-on” technology revived when trends reversed.

Was April the start of a new chapter in Bitcoin?

Bitcoin’s price action was seen in April, but while Bitcoin is unlikely to serve as both a “risk-off” hedge against the global economic disaster, it will not later display the “risk-on” characteristics of tech stocks either. The asset must actually display one characteristic. However, since Bitcoin is still a very young asset, investors may still be aware of its investment characteristics.

Also, when returning to the beginning of the year, it should be noted that Bitcoin is still mostly trending along with tech stocks and is significantly short on gold. Of note, traditionally, it has been hedges against global currency crisis and runaway inflation.

Go to chart

ibit data from ycharts

Therefore, April was definitely an interesting month for Bitcoin. It began to deviate somewhat from the tech stocks of performance and had an inkling that is considered a “safe shelter” against geopolitical disruption. However, as a decline in Bitcoin’s performance compared to gold since the beginning of the year, Bitcoin is probably not yet at that level. Currently, Bitcoin has functioned to some extent between tech stocks and gold dichotomy assets.

Trump says he had nothing to do with his AI image as Pope

play

WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump says he knew nothing about his artificially generated image that dressed the pope posted on his social account of truth over the weekend.

“I had nothing to do with it. Someone made a photo of me dressed like the Pope and they put it on the internet.

The image of the White House being reconstructed has attracted criticism from Catholics who still lament Pope Francis’ death. Trump attended a funeral last week along with other world leaders. The Pope’s Conclave for Selecting a New Pope is scheduled to begin on May 7th.

Speaking to reporters about the artificial image that appeared on his account on May 5th, Trump raised first lady Melania Trump and said, “I actually thought my wife was cute. She said, ‘Isn’t that good?’ ”

“In fact, I can’t get married,” he said. “As far as I know, the Pope is not a big deal about getting married. What about them? It’s not something we know.”

Trump also accused the media of spurring controversy after questioning Catholic frustration with images during a White House questioning and answering session.

“They can’t joke,” Trump told reporters, referring to the media. “The Catholics loved it.”

“Give me a break,” Trump said on whether it should be shared from the official White House account on social media.

Catholic Vice President JD Vance also framed the image as a joke.

The vice president swatted after Bill Christol, an anti-Trump Republican and Bluwork editor, tagged Vance in an X-post and asked, “Is this rudeness and ock ha ha?”

“As a general rule, I’m fine with jokes and it’s not good with people who started a stupid war that killed thousands of my fellow-people,” Vance told Christol, a defender of the Iraqi invasion.

In these states you don’t need an actual ID, but something else is required

0

play

After years of reminders, we have our actual ID requirements.

Starting Wednesday, May 7th, most US adults will need their actual ID to board federally regulated commercial aircraft, access federal facility choices, and enter a nuclear power plant.

A real ID is a state-issued driver’s license or identification that meets the minimum security standards set by the Real ID Act, established by Congress in 2005, based on the recommendations of the 9/11 committee.

There are a few exceptions.

Travelers can also use US passports, permanent resident resident cards, enhanced tribal cards, foreign government issued passports, and several other forms of identification that TSA has accepted for air travel.

Additionally, five states issue enhanced driver’s licenses (EDLs) and enhanced IDs (EIDs). This is accepted by the Department of Homeland Security as an alternative to actual IDs.

Not all licenses or IDs in these states are enhanced by default. Residents can choose either a standard license/ID or an EDL/EID during the application process.

Enhanced driver’s license and enhanced ID can also be used as proof of both identification and citizenship of travel to Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean on land or on sea.

Children under the age of 18 do not need an actual ID for air travel within the country.

Oscar Piastri rules the Miami Grand Prix and claims a third straight victory as Hamilton deals with the order of the “irritating” Ferrari team

0

CNN

Oscar Piastri continued his ferocious form to begin the 2025 Formula One season as he claimed a dominant victory at the Miami Grand Prix on Sunday.

Max Verstappen took the lead early after starting pole position, but Piastri was able to overtake the Dutch driver on lap 14 and never looked back.

McLaren was 1-2 in Florida as Landnoris overtook Verstappen four laps later, and two Papaya cars set a distance between themselves and the other packs. Norris, who came in second, finished 38 seconds ahead with Mercedes’ George Russell in third place.

Piastri’s victory – already in the fourth of the season – has maintained his third consecutive lead in the driver’s championship standings, leading teammate Norris 16 points. He is the first McLaren driver to win three consecutive Grand Prixes since Mika Häkkinen in 1997-98.

But despite his excellent driving, the Australian driver says he has a lot to work on going forward, particularly highlighting his performance in Saturday’s qualifying round.

“I don’t think this weekend was my best, and a lot of that was yesterday. Today’s race was pretty solid, but yesterday I was pretty frustrated with my performance,” Piastri told reporters. “In the end, yes, I won the race this weekend, but I think it’s pretty unlikely to win the fourth qualifying race.

“We did a lot today, but there was definitely some good fortune and a very fast car out there. We don’t want to rely on every Sunday. Obviously, this is the exception to this year’s pace. Yes, we’ve always had strong cars, but today’s pace felt like it was unexpected for us as well.”

Piastri (Issue 81) led early at the Miami Grand Prix.

The only downside to Piastri of Sunday’s results was his post-race celebration, he says.

The 24-year-old played gridi dance after jumping out of the car and placed a bet with Minnesota Viking star Justin Jefferson (who popularized dance with a touchdown celebration).

Piastri then admitted that his Gridi “needs a bit of work” and said he didn’t practice after qualifying because he thought winning on Sunday was a long shot.

“It was my first attempt at Gridy Live on world television. I remained true to the bet, but that’s the only time I’ll see you do it to me,” he told reporters.

Jefferson gave Piastri’s efforts a seal of approval, writing on Instagram:

It was a typical Miami star-studded event for the Grand Prix, with celebrities attending such as actor Timote Chalametto, Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes and Blackpink star Lisa.

And it was a unique accumulation of racing, not a typical truck, but a fully driveable LEGO model of F1 cars, with each driver taking part in a driver’s parade.

The car, made of around 400,000 Lego Bricks, was modeled on the driver’s car, decorated with unique numbers and liver, and was driven around the course before the race.

His former team had success, but Lewis Hamilton was entrusted with an eighth finish as his debut season with Ferrari continues to stomp.

Seven-time world champions have begun 12th On the grid, he was able to fight in his way, three seconds behind his teammate Charles Leclerc, finishing over a minute behind Piastri.

And Hamilton’s frustration in his early season – he placed seventh in the driver’s championship standings and scored 90 points from Piastri – apparent during his race in a brief exchange on the radio with his Ferrari team.

At the mid-race pit stop, Hamilton found some speed and approach to Leclair. However, initially instructed both drivers to hold position, so Ferrari engineers instructed Leclerc to give his position to Hamilton a few laps later.

Hamilton was clearly annoyed by the delay in instructions and told the engineer “I can do a tea break while you’re there.” After being ultimately given permission to pass through Leclerc, he said the delay was “not teamwork,” and later when Williams’ Carlos Sainz was told he was on his tail, he sarcastically asked if he wanted him to “pass through the sign.”

Hamilton finished 8th in the Miami Grand Prix.

The British driver then said the comments were made in the struggle of competition and he still had “that fire in my belly.”

“I lost a lot of time behind Charles. At that moment, I certainly said, ‘Now, let’s make a very quick and concise decision, don’t waste your time,” the 40-year-old told Sky Sports.

“I’m sure people didn’t like certain comments, but you have to realize that it’s frustrating. People say worse things than I say. It was more ironic than anything else, so I’m not frustrated now.

He added: “I’m not emotional about it. We’re here for the race. We don’t want to be there. I still have that fire in my belly. I could feel it really comes out there. And I’m not going to apologise for being a fighter.

Cosmos 482: Knowing that Soviet spaceships will collide with Earth

CNN

Some Soviet cars that malfunctioned on their way to Venus more than 50 years ago are scheduled to return to Earth soon this week.

Much is unknown about the fragments of the universe, called Cosmos 482 (also spelled Kosmos 482).

Most predictions estimate that the object will reenter the atmosphere around May 10th, but some uncertainty about its exact shape and size, as well as the unpredictability of the weather in space, is inevitable.

Researchers also believe it is a probe, or “entry capsule,” but it is a “entry capsule,” designed to survive extreme temperatures and pressures on Venus, but it has an atmosphere of 90 times more dense than the Earth. That means it can survive an unexpected trip back home, poses a small but non-zero risk to people on earth.

Space junk and meteors are routinely directed towards collision landings on Earth, but most objects fall apart as they hit the Earth’s thick atmosphere, travelling thousands of miles per hour, causing them to collapse as they are torn apart due to friction and pressure.

However, if the Cosmos 482 object is certainly a Soviet re-entry capsule, it will equip a considerable heat shield. That means “it could withstand Earth’s atmosphere invasion and hit the ground,” according to Dr. Jonathan McDowell, an astrophysicist and astronomer at the Harvard Smithsonian Center, who shares predictions on his website.

The risk of objects that strike people on the ground is minimal, and “no major concern is needed,” writes McDowell.

The Soviet Space Institute, or IKI, was founded in the mid-1960s during the space race of the 20th century, where the Soviet Union faced off against the US, the major space exploration competitor.

Iki’s Venera program sent a series of probes towards Venus in the 1970s and 1980s, some returning travel and beam data and images to Earth before halting travel.

The descendant module of the Venera 8 is depicted in this photo of NASA.

According to McDowell, two spacecrafts in that program, the V-71 No. 670 and the V-71 No. 671, were launched in 1972. However, only one person made a successful voyage to Venus. The V-71 No. 670 operated on the surface of the Earth for about 50 minutes.

The V-71 No. 671 was not. The rocket carried the Venella spacecraft into a “car park” around Earth. However, NASA said the vehicle was unable to withstand Venus’ travel trajectory and left it close to home.

From the 1960s, NASA said that Soviet vehicles that remained in Earth’s orbit since the 1960s were given a cosmos name and numerical designation for tracking purposes.

Several shards have been created from the failure of V-71 No. 671. At least two have already fallen off track. However, researchers believe that the set for returning to our planet this week is a cylindrical entry capsule, or Cosmos 482, for vehicle orbital behavior.

“There was a very low point in the orbit, but it didn’t collapse for decades, so it’s very dense,” said Marlon Souzi, an aerospace society expert, a federally funded research group’s space fragments expert. “So, it’s clearly ball-ball-like.”

And although Venus’ probes were equipped with parachutes, the vehicle has not been used in harsh environments in space for the past decades. This means it’s very unlikely that a parachute will help deploy at the right time or slow down the vehicle’s descent, Langbroke told CNN.

According to calculations by Aerospace Corporation, Cosmos 482 is about 1 in 25,000 people who will cause fatal damage.

That’s a much lower risk than some other universe fragments. At least some decommissioned rocket parts are reintroduced into the Earth’s atmosphere every year, Sorge notes, increasing the likelihood of a major disaster.

However, if the Cosmos 482 object hits the ground, it is likely to land between 52°N and 52°S, Langbroke said in an email.

“The region includes several prominent land and countries, including Africa, South America, Australia, the US, parts of Canada, parts of Europe, parts of Asia, and more,” Langbroke said.

“But 70% of our planets are water, so we could potentially go to the ocean somewhere,” Langbroke said in an email. “Yes, there’s a risk, but it’s small. You’re at a greater risk of being hit by lightning once in a lifetime.”

Sorge emphasized that if Cosmos 482 hits dry land, it is important that bystanders do not try to touch the debris. Older spacecraft can leak dangerous fuel and pose other risks to people and property.

“Please contact the authorities,” urged Souji. “Don’t ruin that.”

Parker Wishik, a spokesman for Aerospace Corporation, added that under the 1967 Space Treaty (still a major document in the International Space Law overview), Russia may maintain ownership of the surviving wreckage and attempt to recover after landing.

And while the global space community has taken steps in recent years to ensure that fewer spacecrafts are returned to Earth, the Cosmos 482 vehicles underscore the importance of continuing those efforts, Wishik added.

“What’s going up has to go down,” he said. “We’re talking about it over 50 years later. This is another evidence of the importance of debris mitigation, and make sure that what you post in space today may affect us over the next few decades, so make sure you’re making sure that dialogue (as a space community) is ongoing.”

Sadness and fear permeate the picturesque valley of Kashmir, separating India and Pakistan

0

Sarjiwar, Pakistan Edriation Kashmir
CNN

Malik Kadim’s lips tremble, his voice suffocating, his head falls as he raises his hands to his sadness-stricken face. It’s a useless effort to stop the tears gushing through his gantt and weathered cheeks.

Kadim is a farmer who lives on the Pakistani side of the Depact border of the conflict Kashmir region known as the Control Line between India and Pakistan, or LOC. He is now grieving the loss of his loved one, as did so many civilians on both sides of this conflict. In this case, his brother.

Two weeks ago, gunmen raided mountain resorts on the dominant part of India where Kashmir kills 26 people, mostly Indian tourists. The killings sparked widespread public dislike throughout India, and this already massive, militarized remote border area has been at the edge ever since.

The day after the April 22nd massacre, Indian officials announced that two Pakistanis were planning a terrorist attack near the village of Kadim on the Indian side of the LOC. When Kadim’s brother Malik Farouk didn’t show up that day after he took the cows away, the family reported him missing and identified him from images of the two men who were later released by Indian authorities, a Pakistani security source told CNN.

Khadim and Farouk’s son both deny the allegations, saying he is a poor farmer and chasing a lost cow towards the unmarked unsubstantiated Loc in the nearby forest.

Malik Farouk's sons stand outside the house in Sharjiwal village in Pakistan's commander Kashmir.

In response to the massacre of tourists, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi vowed to chase “terrorists” on the “end of the earth.” India blames Pakistan, Pakistan denied involvement, and tensions have been rising ever since.

Both sides have expelled each other’s diplomats and civilians, closing airspace to each other’s airlines. India also withdrew from the 1960 Indus Water Treaty, which has mitigated fierce relations here for decades.

Officials on the Pakistani side of the border say they hope that India will attack and swear to respond as a matter of “military doctrine.”

Islamabad’s current language is more stringent than this reporter remembers when covering the 1999 Kargil War. It was one of a highland, a few months of battles over Kashmir, killing more than thousands of troops over Kashmir, killing more than 100 troops, according to the most conservative calculations of the year after Pakistan registered as a nuclear force.

In the words of senior Pakistani security guards, political relations with New Delhi have improved from time to time, but as military attitudes have been strengthened over the last few decades, it is a “moment” that will change the dynamics of relations with India.

On May 4, 2025, the Soldier has a security guard at Hajilpirupass, near Control.

In addition to skirmishes with India, Pakistani troops have fought fierce Islamic extremist rebellions along the country’s western border. And CNN’s candid conversations with both senior and lower security authorities suggested that Pakistani military is more spiritually and militarily strengthened than before.

The militarily promoted trip that CNN took over remote areas and sturdy Himalayas to Sarjiwar village in Kadim was beautiful and terrifying.

A rocky track at over 10,000 feet of altitude that passes through snowy fields, around fresh rock waterfalls, and through towering native deodalcedar trees forests. Sometimes their huge trunks appeared to plunge into a river below a terribly steep river, offering only potential relief from one wrong move.

It’s only a few hours of this bone jarred journey, enough to understand why neither Pakistan nor India have claimed a decisive victory here. It’s too sturdy for a simple victory.

But both countries want the region and control all the water that will rapidly flow from the snow-capped summit. And despite its challenging terrain, millions call this conflicted land home.

Life here is difficult: elderly women and children have huge bundles of sticks from vertical slopes. Authentic Farm Elbow for the room between strong deodal. And a few villages cling to the hillside where the revered procession here, Skinny Water Buffalo, is cleaning up the grass.

In comparison, there is a lasting sense in the village of Sarjiwar, lying beneath the mountains and homes of Rafhuff trees and rocky houses. However, living at LOC put residents at a sharp end to growing tensions. Khadim told CNN that Indian troops filmed them in frontline posts hundreds of metres where villagers’ homes were shot in the night.

Another villager said his large family lives in one house, adding:

Although no shots were fired over the two hours this CNN team was in Sarjiwar, both India and Pakistan have reported that they are close to daily fire exchanges across the LOC since the attack on tourists last month.

Born in Sarjiwar at the age of 55, Kadim added that the entire village is increasingly at the edges and that residents want to take several cattle to summer pastures just like they did at this time of year, but that they cannot be afraid to be shot by Indian troops.

But his greatest fear is that the death of his brother is a precursor to a worse fate to come, and he loses not only his beloved family, but his lifelong home and living. “India has given us a great deal of cruelty,” he told CNN. “If they want me to leave, put a bullet in my head, that’s the only way I can go.”

India has long accused Pakistan of attacking within its territory and having extremist groups that have not done enough to crack down on them. And there is great pressure on Prime Minister Modi to respond to the latest powerful massacre.

After a massive rebel attack on paramilitary personnel in India-controlled Kashmir in 2019, Modi was running an airstrike in Pakistan for the first time in decades, with both sides fighting a short dogfight in the sky above Kashmir. After desperate international diplomacy, a full-scale war was eventually averted.

Civilians here fear that today’s war of words between Islamabad and New Delhi will soon erupt into a real conflict. On both sides of the Kashmir control line, people feel helpless as politicians can rehash old debates and rekindle decades of smoldering resentment.

Why does Carbana want your used car and is it worth selling now?

0

Should you sell your car to Calvana? This is why used cars are more valuable in the coming months.

play

  • Carvana is sending emails to drivers to buy used cars.
  • Cash-bound Americans could jump on the opportunity and miss out on the rise in demand.
  • This is where you can find yourself across the second-hand car market and how you can use it as an American car owner.

You may have recently received an email from Carvana. Theme of the email: “We want your car!”

Here’s why Carvana wants to buy your car and why customs make used cars hot items.

Carvana is preparing for changes in the customs market

There are very few automotive businesses that are not affected by customs duties. Even used car sellers experience market changes as car manufacturers and consumers try to find a foothold. The Trump administration has issued serious car rates, leaving some car manufacturers and car dealers to scramble.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r03b_s4kybi

According to Yahoo Finance, Calvana (NYSE: CVNA) was promoted by a whopping 19.8% in the morning session after President Donald Trump announced all US import duties set at a minimum of 10%. Carvana reported auto news in April that it was “prepared to meet the supply and demand changes for second-hand vehicles, including those arising from tariffs,” implying that the company is changing its strategy to adapt to car rates.

So why does Carvana promote its car buying service to consumers via email? Also, how does buying a car fit into your customs strategy?

How does Calvana make money?

Carvana makes money by selling second-hand cars via its online platform. We source used cars from a variety of channels, including the average American looking to sell their vehicles. So, if you want to offload your second-hand car to quick cash, Carvana might be the answer. The platform is entirely intended to profit from the final sale of the vehicle, so the offers you receive are conditional on the company selling it at a higher price. Check out Carvana’s differentiated business model (presented for investors).

The company is extremely successful, with a market capitalization of $34.54 billion in accordance with Yahoo Finance. Therefore, it is extremely efficient to assess the fair market value of used cars and sell them for profit. Companies like Carmax and Carvana are effectively transforming the way Americans buy cars and avoiding traditional dealership experience.

Why does Calvana want your used car now?

Carmax is boosting new used car inventory to take advantage of the evolving used car market. Customs duties can cause a surge in used cars as new cars become more expensive. Carvana regularly buys used cars, but it is important for the company to strengthen its inventory if the company expects an increase in demand, such as Carmax.

So the question is, should you sell your used car now? The answer depends on what Carvana offers compared to the fair market value of the vehicle. If you are interested in the fair market value of a vehicle, the Kelly Blue Book has a car value section that allows you to give a solid estimate.

Note that the greater the demand for used cars, the more sellers can raise the price. Therefore, your used car may actually be more valuable in the used car market in a few months, based on the impact of tariffs on the new car market.

Things to consider before selling your car to Calvana

Caredge, a car shopping and research website started by the father and son duo, recommends selling to private parties where you can earn more money for your used car. This means selling directly to buyers without third-party intermediaries like the dealer or business involved. This includes details, services and cleaning, which are also part of our News & World Report recommendations.

In a video of the car selling online, Ray and Zach Schevska said that Calvana is for those trying to make the transaction “as convenient as possible.”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e-p3n83qm_o

Ultimately, Carvana, Carmax and similar reputable platforms are a substitute for private sales if they can get a fair deal on used cars. The best way to get a good offer is through market research.

The once-derived prison has become a historic location

Donald Trump’s call to reopen the infamous Alcatraz prison in San Francisco Bay has been attracting attention since the president posted about it on May 4th.

The federal prison on Alcatraz Island housed infamous American criminals such as Al Capone before its closing in 1963, becoming one of San Francisco’s most popular tourist destinations.

While Trump calls for “rebuilding and opening Alcatraz!”, the actual process of “containing America’s most ruthless and violent criminals” has been overseen since its closure as the building becomes a museum and historic site and is filled with guided tours as part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.

The reopening of the facility, located in a national historic location in 1976 and named the National Historic Landmark in 1986, has been previously considered. In 1981, Alcatraz Island was one of 14 sites rated as the Reagan administration searched for locations that housed 10,000-20,000 Cuban detainees during the Mariel Boat Lift. However, the site was rejected due to its lack of utility, its historical nature and its popularity as a tourist destination.

Today, Alcatraz is more like a museum than a prison. This lets look at where things are inside.

DHS offers $1,000 and plane tickets to migrants who deport themselves

0

play

WASHINGTON – The Department of Homeland Security offers $1,000 salaries and free airfares to migrants who deport themselves.

The proposal, released on May 5, will strengthen the department’s previous encouragement for immigrants without legal permission to announce their intention to leave it to the CBP Home App for Customs Border Protection without being in the US without legal permission.

The department estimates that paying the fee for voluntary deportation is much cheaper than the current average of $17,121 to arrest, detain and remove immigrants.

“If you’re here illegally, self-deporting is the best, safest, and most cost-effective way to leave the US to avoid arrest,” DHS Director Christa Noem said in a statement.

President Donald Trump told May 5th reporters at the White House that the court made it extremely difficult to deport immigrants, but he hopes the Supreme Court will ultimately be adjacent to the administration. Trump said immigrants who deport themselves will receive some money and get a “beautiful flight back to where they came” and if they work hard they will have the opportunity to return to the US.

“If they miss that limit, they’ll be taken from our country,” Trump said in his oval office. “And they never get a path back, and it’s a much more demanding process.”

The incentive is that immigrants who agree to agree to voluntary deportation are not a priority for detention and removal prior to planned departures, the Department of Homeland Security added that participation in the program could preserve immigrants’ options for re-entering the United States in the future.

“And if they make it, we’re going to work with them, one day, with a little bit of work, if they’re good people, if they’re hardworking people who can love our (country), our country, if they’re good people, then they can come back,” Trump said. “And otherwise, it’s not.”

The Department of Homeland Security said the offer for travel assistance has already been successful. Immigrants who entered the country without permission received tickets for a flight from Chicago to Honduras, and said more tickets were booked for others in the coming weeks.
