Donald Trump touts Lala Trump for North Carolina Senate seat

President Donald Trump said his daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, was his “first choice” to be a North Carolina Senate GOP candidate, vacant by Senator Tom Tillis, but he said she does not live in the state.

“She’s a great person, Lara Trump,” Trump told reporters on July 1.

Over the weekend, Tillis announced that he was not seeking re-election in 2026, creating a seat open to a key swing state. Tillis opposed Trump’s signature law, criticised the bill’s Medicaid cuts, and threatened to find a major challenger before the senator announced he wasn’t running again.

Lara Trump, the wife of Trump’s son Eric, was previously debated as a potential alternative to Florida Sen. Marco Rubio when the president chose him as secretary of state. “We’ll be seriously considering it,” Lara Trump said.

Lara Trump was born in Wilmington, North Carolina, raised in Wrightville Beach and attended state colleges. She currently lives in Florida. She co-chaired the Republican National Committee during the 2024 election and held the Fox News Show.

“The real amazing person is Lara, she grew up there,” Trump said of the race.

Trump said he didn’t know who would run to his seat. He hopes one of the state lawmakers will “step up.”

The celebrities in Diddy Trial ranged from Beyoncé to Brad Pitt and Kid Cudi

0

NEW YORK – Before his fierce downfall, Sean “Diddy” Combs was a pop culture supernova with countless stars in his orbit.

Like it or not, that’s part of why we have all been so attached to his criminal trials. The former cooperative music mogul awaits a verdict of five sex trafficking charges, a conspiracy to assault and transport engaged in prostitution.

The journalist took a breather and breathless air in the hall of the Daniel Patrick Moynihan U.S. Court on June 13, when the rapper tried to show his solidarity with combs. It was also why dozens of social media influencers waited nearly four hours in the rain amid the early morning rain on May 22, hoping to land a spot in the main courtroom as musician child Kudy testified about the arson attack by Combs.

Through almost two months of testimony, lawyers and witnesses have named several celebrities as they have unearthed nearly 20 years of comb’s obvious criminal past.

They spoke of the night of partying with the Prince, Stevie Wonder, Muhammad Ali and Ritaora. Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne and Rick Ross were referenced in court. The defense was because Combs tried to highlight the powerful connections he could afford to ex-girlfriend singer Cassandra “Cassie” Ventura Fine. Michael B. Jordan, 50 Cent and Suge Knight were all the subjects of Comb’s rage, but both Usher and Danity Kane’s Dawn Richard were on the sidelines of violent incidents.

play

Sean “Diddy” Comb’s lawyer

Sean “Diddy” Combs and his legal team returned to Manhattan court to surrender his case to a ju-degree federal sex crime investigation who cleaned up.

There was also a drop of names that caused dry entertainment from reporters, like the revelation that Combs once had ecstasy pills shaped like the face of former President Barack Obama. Or the rapper gave his staff an annual paid leave on his infamous Big birthday. (When I checked into the hotel, Combs often used the alias Frank Black.

Combs’ lawyer also mentioned Beyoncé in his final statement. “I don’t think I’ll see Beyoncé on CVS,” said Mark Agnifilo’s chief attorney, who claims that Combs employees are not part of a criminal company and are working instead.

Here are just a few of the most notable A-listers to find your way to the Diddy Trial.

R. Kelly

“Meer” is a former assistant to Combs, who testified under the pseudonym, and told the ju-degree that she was abused and assaulted by the rapper through employment. A series of texts read aloud in court, and she called out the name of R&B singer R. Kelly, who is in prison, following his own sexual offence trial.

Ju-search has seen the exchange since 2019. Mia wrote to Combs:

Leonardo DiCaprio

In the long text she sent Combs around 2020, Mia described some of their most “magical, hilarious” memories together. It was a night in Paris that Mick Jagger took her home. The other was a night when Jennifer Lopez never stopped.

Mia also referenced the high stakes poker game between hip hop monks and DiCaprio. She said, “That’s the ‘Titanic’ (man) doesn’t know anything. He won $10,000 and $650,000,” he wrote, cursing, Combs said.

Chadwick Boseman

In a message from August 2020, MIA texted the actor “Combs” and “Thinking about Chadwick Boseman and You.” Mia said that in the “Get On Up” biopic that Boseman finally performed, he was “auditioning for the role” and that Combs was “auditioning for the role.” In the exchange of texts presented to the ju apprentice, Mia told Combs that she had an audition tape on him and that she would send it to him.

Brad Pitt

Mia claimed she witnessed Combs and Ventura Fine escalating at the premiere of the Brad Pitt film at the Cannes Film Festival in France in 2012.

Chelsea trade

On the stand, Mia said over the years he saw Combs taking Molly, MDMA, ketamine and prescription medication. She said it was “mainly in the party situation,” but she once claimed he was high on the board. On another occasion, she claimed that he pulled him aside because he was so expensive on the Chelsea Handler show. “You look a little crazy right now,” Mia told Combs.

Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston

On the stand, former Combs personal assistant Capricorn Clark was asked if he thought Ventura Fine was “very talented.” Clark replied “No,” adding that he thinks he has “talent” just because the R&B stars are rising.

“For me, those very talented are Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey,” Clark told the ju decree. “Very talented, he’s a performer and entertainer at that level. Kathy was more of a studio artist.”

Bruce Willis and Eddie Murphy

During Ventura Fine’s lengthy testimony, the ju apprenticed saw a text he sent to Combs in July 2013. At the time, she had been with Comb for about seven years and expressed her dissatisfaction that she was not more integrated into her children and his family life.

“As much as you think you’re Bruce Willis, you’re not,” Ventura texted the comb finely. “He was married and before he got married, the whole family travelled together, or only he and his women went.”

“Eddie Murphy and Page (the butcher) took the child away by themselves,” the message continued. “I don’t think you have sympathy for my feelings. I understand that you feel you need to protect your child. But after a while, what is that for?”

Keke Palmer

Ventura Fine model and ex-friend Kelly Morgan testified that Combs once attacked her at Cathy’s California home, choking her and slamming her on the head with a wooden hanger. She also told the court that she saw Combs Assault Ventura get well on several occasions, and she begged her friend to leave the rapper.

During cross-examination, the defense showed many photos of Morgan and Ventura wandering around with a group of people. One snapshot includes Morgan, stylist Deonte Nash, producer Rob Holiday and “Nope” actress Keke Palmer. The defense asked if they all enjoyed themselves together. “We had a lot of fun,” Morgan said. “We look like a loving bunch,” but “I didn’t love all these people.”

Shaq, Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan

On the stand, “Jane” from Combs testified under the pseudonym, “Jane” said that one of the escorts she allegedly hired used the nickname “Trifecta” when they had sex. Jane claimed she was Kobe Bryant. The entertainer Paul was Shaquille O’Neill. Combs was Michael Jordan.

The ju umpire also read a series of flirty text messages between Jane and Combs, where she compared her relationship with NBA legends. In the exchange, Jane thanks Combs for making “I’m so happy” and giving “a lot of love to me.”

“You’re my Michael Jordan and I’m your Kobe Bryant,” Jane texted the comb. “We’re the best.”

Pamela Anderson

In another Frisky Text Exchange, reading aloud to the ju umpire during his testimony, Jane compared herself to a previous Playboy model.

“It’s giving Pamela Anderson, Carmen Electra,” Jane texted Combs, adding two melon emojis.

Jane frequently referred to famous figures to Combs in her text messages. Some of each other’s other nicknames: Bert and Ernie from “Sesame Street.”

Chris Brown

In court, Combs’ lawyers approached Ventura at a time when the hip-hop heavyweight suspected she was cheating on him.

“Did he find out you are dancing with others in the entertainment industry? Do you remember the incident in which he suspected you were dancing with Chris Brown?” The Defense asked in 2013, referring to an unspecified opportunity. Ventura Fine said she didn’t remember the incident, but she said “we didn’t dance” with the singer.

The defense showed an exhibit to help Combs jog through the era when he allegedly photographed the phone call of the “Me&u” singer after suspecting that Combs was dancing with Brown. After seeing the evidence, Ventura Fein said, “I’m saying it in the message, but I really don’t remember it.”

Ventura Fine is a close friend of actress and model Carouse Tran, who won a five-year restraint order against her ex-boyfriend Brown in 2017.

Israel is at a crossroads as Netanyahu prepares to meet Trump

0

Jerusalem
CNN

His hosts have made his expectations clear as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu prepares for his third visit to the White House this year. US President Donald Trump, who frequently spoke about his desire to secure a ceasefire in Gaza, said Tuesday that he is “looking for that to happen next week.”

The two leaders celebrate the US and Israel’s strike in Iran, but Gaza has become so many on their agenda. “We want to get hostages back,” Trump said.

Netanyahu, who is scheduled to meet the US president on Monday, faces a key decision at the intersection of two very different conflicts. One is accurate and short, the other is brutal and prolonged. According to Israeli officials, the longtime Israeli leader has already held two high-level meetings in Gaza, with another meeting scheduled for Thursday.

However, the government has yet to decide how to proceed in Gaza, according to sources familiar with the debate. That choice will be summed up whether to pursue a ceasefire agreement or to intensify military bombings on enclaves that have already killed more than 56,000 Palestinians.

Earlier this week, Israeli forces recommended pursuing a diplomatic path in the strip after more than 20 months of combat and the elimination of many of Hamas’ senior leaders.

On Tuesday, military officials told CNN that Israel has not fully achieved all war goals, but as Hamas’ troops have been reduced and become more difficult to effectively target the rest of the militant group.

“It’s hard to achieve tactical goals now,” the official said. They added that the military could continue to pursue the destruction of Hamas’ military and governance capabilities, but political agreements could also be effective.

Far-right members of the Netanyahu government are calling for a step-up of Israeli campaigns.

“There is no agreement, there are no partners, there are no mediators. Only clear outcomes: the return of hostages from Hamas’ position of destruction and strength,” said Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, head of the Religious Zionism Party on Monday.

However, after almost two years of war, others have made it clear that the release of the remaining 50 hostages in Gaza is a priority.

“In my opinion, everything must be done to release the hostages. And we are over 600 days behind. We must do everything to bring everyone back – alive and falling. Even out of weakness, Welfare Minister Ya’akov Margi spoke about the Israeli religion Kol B’ramah Radio. Pushing whether it includes the end of the war, Margi said, “I think we should enter negotiations and everything should be on the table.”

Debris after a strike at a cafe in Gaza city, drawn on June 30, 2025.

The Israeli Defense Force (IDF) already controls about 60% of Gaza’s besieged territory, forcing more than 2 million Palestinians, many of whom are difficult to avoid in number, into smaller areas near the coast. However, negotiations have been suspended for several weeks and cannot fill the important gap. Hamas demanded a permanent end to the conflict as part of a ceasefire agreement, and Israel refused to end the war.

“The IDF has reached the limits of what you can achieve in power,” said retired Major Israel ZIV, who once led the military’s operations department. “Netanyahu has reached the intersection and he has to make a choice,” he added.

One path would be to seek regional agreements that could leverage its achievements against Iran, Hezbollah and Hamas and upgrade Syria’s relationship with Lebanon, Ziv said. Such an option would end the war in Gaza and ensure hostage release, but would put the Netanyahu government at risk if far-right parties leave the coalition.

“The second path is to continue the war, and even if it has not been officially declared, it would mean the conquest of Gaza,” Ziv said.

Over the weekend, Netanyahu said “many opportunities have been opened” following Israeli military operations in Iran. “First, to save the hostages,” he said. “Of course we need to solve the Gaza problem and defeat Hamas, but I think we’ll complete both missions.”

The comments showed a potentially significant change in how Netanyahu laid out Israel’s goals in Gaza. Due to the majority of the war, he prioritized Hamas’ defeat. In May, he said it was “the best purpose” rather than the return of hostages.

However, after the campaign against Iran, Netanyahu showed new flexibility in negotiations. He may be tested soon at the White House when he meets the US president for a deal.

Honda recalled more than 65,000 vehicles due to the issue of vehicles rolling down while in the park.

The affected vehicles include certain 2013 Honda Accord vehicles. According to Honda, drive shafts can corrode and break due to damage from road salt and other contaminants.

“A broken drive shaft can lose drive power or cause the vehicle to overturn when the vehicle is in the park without parking brakes applied,” Honda announced on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website. “Both scenarios can increase the risk of crashes and injuries.”

Here are some things you need to know about recalls and what to do if you drive an affected vehicle:

Zohran Mamdanani wins democratic NYC mayor Primary Instantru Bouf

Democrat socialist Mamdani added a margin of victory over former government, Andrew Cuomo, after the ranked selection votes were redistributed.

play

NEW YORK – State Legislature member Zohran Mamdani has won the Democratic nomination for New York City Mayor after the instant spill results in a progressive victory of 56%-44% younger than former government Andrew Cuomo.

Mamdani has been estimated to be the winner since earning 7% points over Cuomo on June 24th, but 44% of first-place votes didn’t reach the majority they actually needed to win.

Under the city’s ranked optional voting system, voters are allowed to rank up to five candidates in priority order, and the New York City Election Commission has released calculations showing that Mamdani, 33, has earned more votes than Cuomo from the person who first ranked one of the other nine candidates. The Associated Press called for a Mamdani race on July 1st, shortly after these results were announced.

The nominations become official on July 14th after the affidavit vote counted.

Mamdani’s victory, which the former governor admitted on election night, marked a shocking upset in democratic politics.

The latest results resulted in even more decisive victory as votes from candidates with fewer Mamdani were transferred to those who were transferred to those who ranked higher in Mamdani or Cuomo. More than a million New Yorkers voted in the election, a massive increase among younger voters.

“This is just the beginning of an expanded coalition to make New York City affordable,” tweeted Mamdani. “And we’ll do it together.”

A democratic socialist, Mamdani, a 67-year-old Democrat, has attracted the public’s attention for beating Cuomo, the first frontrunner. With this victory, Mamdani also includes current mayor Eric Adams, formerly a primary and left-wing long shot, leader of the mayor’s busy race in the November 4th general election.

A centralist Democrat, Adams is running as an independent after escaping primary and suffering from scandals.

Since his victory, Mamdani has faced attacks from Republicans and conservatives for his faith as a Muslim, falsely labelled Communist and received tepid welcome from many mainstream Democrats. President Donald Trump, a native of New York City, launched attacks on the Democratic candidate, including calling for his arrest and falsely suggesting he be in the United States illegally. Born in Uganda, Mamdani is a naturalized citizen.

Mamdani has campaigned heavily about the message that addresses affordability in the infamous, expensive city, approved by Democratic socialists Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Sen. Bernie Sanders.

His policy proposals include rent-stabilized apartments, free city buses and rents that will be frozen in expanding childcare. Critics have questioned how the mayor could enact such policies without the ability to impose taxes that do not lose their permission from the state government.

The Mamdani campaign attracted a large number of new voters while garnering Asian American, Latino and progressive white communities. He and the candidate slate began to intersect each other under the city’s ranked selection system.

Mamdani formed a key alliance with mayor Brad Lander, who was standing by Mamdani on election night. A Jewish and experienced and progressive politician, Lander was able to help Mamdani in the coming days to secure support among many Jewish New Yorkers in the city with the largest Jewish community outside of Israel. The results showed that Mamdani expanded his coalition among many Jewish communities.

Mamdani faced criticism of her opposition to Israel as a Jewish state, refusing to condemn phrases such as “globalization of intifadas.” Mamdani does not use the phrase, but criticizes Israel’s treatment of Palestinians, saying that Israel has the right to equal rights for all.

Cuomo, a three-term governor who resigned in 2021 amid accusations of sexual harassment and abuse of power, has received substantial support among outside black, Latino and orthodox Jewish neighborhoods, just like the ultra-rich Encoves of Manhattan’s Upper East Side. However, Cuomo rarely outreached voters or other candidates to expand his support.

Cuomo’s name will remain on the ballot in the November election. Cuomo has not decided whether to campaign entirely as a third-party candidate against Mamdani and other independent Republican candidates.

In a statement, Cuomo said young voters and other voters who had never voted before had changed the entire electoral. He didn’t promise to stay in the race until November, but noted that he would win more votes than Adams, who won the primary in 2021. Vote turnout was low in that election.

“We continue to have conversations with people around town as we decide on our next step,” Cuomo said.

Adams, a moderate incumbent who is plagued by the scandal, remains deeply unpopular after the corrupt probes thwarted his administration. Federal prosecutors also charged Adams in a corruption case before being accused of negotiating with the Trump administration to stop criminal charges. Adams denies fraud.

Trump praised Adams as “a very good guy” at a press conference on July 1.

“I helped him a little,” the president said of Adams, referring to the mayor’s legal issues.

Adams wants to rebuild the working class coalition of New Yorkers, black, Latino and Orthodox Jews, whom he narrowly won in the Democratic primary.

In the race until November, Adams hopes to attract Republicans against Mamdani, but Curtis Swawa, founder of the GOP nominee Guardian Angels, said he won’t drop out.

As a mid- or conservative lane jockey, Adams, Cuomo and Swawawa, the Democratic candidate – in this case, Mamdani – is usually an outrageous favorite in large democratic cities.

Hertz’s AI scanner flagged small scratches. The tenant received a $440 bill.

Car rental company Hertz began using AI scanners to check the vehicle after it was damaged. For at least one renter, the technology may have gone too far.

Drive reports that one tenant who returned to Hartz-Field-Jackson Atlanta Atlanta Airtair, part of Hartz Corporation, part of Hertz Corporation, was charged $440 for a 1-inch scuff found on the tire by an AI scanner.

The tenant received a message on the Hertz app within minutes of returning the vehicle, but was unable to tell the human about the fees.

How does Hertz use AI?

In April, Hertz said that by partnering with UVeye, it would “transform the vehicle maintenance process” and would introduce advanced AI testing to its US operations.

In a press release at the time, Hertz stated that by implementing advanced AI-driven inspection technology, “Hertz can dramatically improve the frequency, accuracy and efficiency of the vehicle maintenance process, ensure reliable service, and improve customer vehicle availability and transparency.”

AI-powered camera systems and machine learning algorithms enable real-time automated inspection of vehicles, glass, tires and undercarriage.

Hertz said it will begin rolling out at Atlanta Airport and will expand to major U.S. airports by the end of the year.

What happened to the renter’s $440 bill?

The tenant contacted the drive to relay his experience with a new AI scanner. He was warned of damage to the rear wheels on the driver’s side with an inch of scuff. bill? $250 for repairs, $125 for processing, $65 for management fees, all totaling $440. Renters can either pay immediately or receive a $52 discount if paid within two days or a $32.50 discount if paid within one week.

However, he was unable to go through the chatbot system and knew he could flag the claims to require human agents to review, so he had to reach out through the “Contact Us” link and wait 10 days for a response. He told Adam Ismail of Drive that he has no plans to pay his bill within seven days to receive the discount.

In a follow-up email, Ismail told USA Today it had not heard any updates from the tenants.

In a statement to USA Today, a Hertz spokesman said, “We have shown that over 97% of vehicles scanned with this technology do not show claimable damages, proving that the majority of rentals are safe.

According to a company spokesperson, the goal is to “enhance transparency, accuracy and speed when new damage is detected, while increasing transparency, accuracy and speed, while ensuring that customers are not claimed for not being harmed. As we continue to deploy this technology, we are committed to continuous innovation and continuous improvement.”

When a customer flags an issue in a dedicated chat, the live agent reviews the flagged damage issue and the decision is communicated via the AI agent, the spokesman said. The company is also working to integrate live agents into the app.

“In this particular incident, a live agent reviewed this customer’s escalation and manually reviewed the photos with pickups and returns, confirming that the damage was new,” the spokesman said. “We understand that some customers expect different outcomes, but we want to use the best available information to ensure that all cases are handled fairly and objectively.”

Professor: Hertz’s AI technology parameters may need to be reconfigured

Ramnath Chellappa, professor of information systems and operations management at Goizueta Business School at Emory University, says that there should be benefits to businesses using AI, such as assessing problems. Among Chellappa’s specializations is AI.

But in this case, in Hertz, Chellappa said that it felt very strange and would beat the purpose if it increased the cost of the consumer.

Given that rental companies often have rules of thumb for cases where damage or scratches are deemed important enough to recharge, Chellappa said it appears that they need to adjust the parameters of the AI used by Hertz.

“I don’t think the problem here is technology… I think the problem lies in the policies they are implementing,” Cherappa told USA Today.

“We tend to use technology and condemn all the consequences that are needed,” Cherappa said. “But this is clearly a case of whether the company in question has the right policy in terms of AI outcomes and what it does, not in terms of AI itself.”

CNN could be charged with reporting on ICE app

DHS secretary Kristi Noem said the Trump administration is indicting CNN for reporting on an app that alerts users to nearby ICE agents.

play

WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump and Christy Noem of the Department of Homeland Security have said the Trump administration is exploring CNN with an iPhone app that alerts immigration and customs enforcement agents in their area.

“We’re working with the Justice Department to actively encourage them to avoid law enforcement, operations,” Noem told reporters on July 1st.

The threat follows a CNN report detailing its creator, Joshua Aaron, that it was designed as an “early warning system” for users when Icelock is operating nearby. The app currently has around 20,000 users, many of whom live in Los Angeles. Los Angeles is the second most populous city in the country and is one of the hotbeds of Trump’s massive deportation of domestic immigrants.

The White House accused CNN of promoting apps that promote violence against law enforcement officials.

“We’re going to actually chase them and prosecute them in the (attorney general) PAM (Bondi) partnership.

Trump then sued CNN and the New York Times last week, doubling his threat, suing CNN and the New York Times, for a preliminary information report that found US airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear sites not devastating to Iran’s nuclear program as Trump portrayed.

“So they might get very prosecuted for that,” Trump said. “I think it’s totally illegal that they did there.”

Trump has a long history of lawsuits against media outlets. The legal basis for the Department of Justice to pursue accusations against CNN to report the existence of the app is unknown. Legal measures by the Trump administration will raise the issue of obvious first amendments regarding freedom of the press.

“This is an app published by iPhone users who want to download it,” CNN said in a statement on management threats. “There is nothing illegal about reporting the existence of this or other apps, and there are no reports that constitute promotions or other approvals for the app by CNN.”

Medicaid reductions in “nonmaterial” tax bills compared to ice increases

0

Vice President JD Vance said the Medicaid cuts and the impact of the Senate tax bill on the budget did not compare with the importance of ice spending.

play

In a series of social media posts, Vice President JD Vance said the costs of the GOP expenditure bill, including the impact of the biggest cuts in history, are “not important” compared to the money that they say is saving by saving through expanded funds for immigration enforcement.

“To make this country go bankrupt more than any other policy is flooding the country with illegal immigration and giving immigrants a generous benefit. (The bill) must fix this issue, and therefore it must pass.

“Everything else — (Congressional Budget Office) scores, appropriate baselines, and fine-minded people with Medicaid policy — is not as important as ice money and immigration enforcement clauses,” he said in his second post.

Immigrants in the United States without legal approval pay the sale and often pay income tax. They are eligible for taxpayer-funded emergency care and public education for children in hospitals.

Republicans are fightingd The bill will be removed from the Senate and returned to the House of Representatives. President Donald Trump says he wants a bill on his desk by July 4th.

“I’ve seen a lot of criticisms about the bill, but most of them failed very basic tests. Can those criticisms win 50 votes?” Vance wrote in his final post. “As the President told me earlier today, I recommend that it be a policy. You need to vote. Without a vote, it’s an useless idea on paper. Take into consideration that taxes will not be enforced, especially if (the bill) fails.

The bill increases immigration enforcement spending on a scale that has never been seen in the United States before. It approved $168 billion, an increase of nearly five times from current spending on enforcement.

The bill cuts several public safety net programs to pay for an increase in immigration enforcement and a continuing tax rate based on Trump’s first administration, which will primarily benefit the wealthy $2.2 trillion worth over the next decade.

The biggest cut is $1.1 trillion against Medicaid over the next decade. It also reduces poverty-control food aid by $186 billion over the same period. These figures come from estimates provided by the Senate Committee, the Joint Tax Committee, and the Non-partisan Congressional Budget Office.

Senate Republicans voted on June 30 to zero the cost of tax cut extensions from the “baseline” costs of budgetary laws. The Congressional Budget Office initially calculated the bill’s costs based on the fact that Trump’s tax cuts passed in 2017 have expired.

Who are the winners and the losers?

0

President Donald Trump’s one big beautiful bill law transforms taxes and other federal policies, but in reality it’s 1,116 pages in the House version and 887 pages in the Senate. How attractive you are to you depends largely on how much your salary will be in 2026.

The two bills are billions apart, but the general theme remains the same. Americans will not face a major tax bill next year. Deficit spending is offset by cuts in health and food aid programs, affecting the finances of low-income Americans.

The US Senate passed the bill slightly with 50 votes on July 1st. The Vice President of JDVance voted for the decision after a fierce Republican negotiation. Now you can go back home and harmonize the differences with another tight deadline, so by July 4th you can be on your Trump desk to sign the law.

What does “big beautiful bill” include?

The plan would make the 2017 tax cuts permanent from Trump’s first term. Some taxes will be reduced, but others will increase and spend changes. USA Today looked for winners and losers if the bill became law. Here is an example of what we found.

High-income households will benefit most

Top 5 winners

High-income earners

Can’t you see our graphics? Click here to view them.

According to an analysis by the Center for Non-Participation Tax Policy, the bill “will cut an average of around $2,800 in 2026.” More than two-thirds of the total cut will go to people with annual incomes of around $217,000 or more, the center said. Those who earn more than $1.1 million will earn nearly a quarter of the cut.

Family with children

The House bill will increase the child tax credit from $500 to $2,500 to 2028. It then decreases to $2,000. However, an estimated 4.5 million children will be ineligible under the new requirement that both parents have a Social Security number, USA Today reported. The Senate bill will permanently raise the tax credit to $2,200 and adjust for inflation.

Children under the age of 8 are given $1,000 each for parents to open a “money account for growth and investment.”

Car buyer

From 2025 to 2028, invoices will allow you to deduct up to $10,000 per year on car loan interest payments if you purchase an American-made vehicle. If your income rises above $100,000, the deduction decreases.

People who worked overtime

Overtime wages, which are treated like regular wages with federal and state income taxes, Social Security and Medicare withholding, will not be taxed under the House bill. According to a survey by the April tax law and Yale Budget Lab, if overtime allowances were not taxed, it could drop between $680 billion and $866 billion between 2025 and 2034. Under the Senate bill, the initial $12,500 extra overtime salary will be tax-deductible until 2028, with an income limit of $150,000.

Waiters and workers getting tips

All tips will not be taxed until 2028 in the House version. According to the IRS, hints have historically been underreported. An unreported tip revenue from non-integrated companies could be $23 billion, according to a 2018 report from the Financial Inspector of Tax Management. Under the Senate bill, the first $25,000 tip is tax deductible until 2028.

Top 5 losers

People under $50,000

Americans who make around $17,000 to $51,000 lose about $700. People with less than $17,000 earnings on average lose more than $1,000. Losses are primarily the result of reductions in support programs such as Medicaid, the health insurance market, supplementary nutrition support programs and student loans.

SNAP/Medicaid recipients

Initial estimates by the CBO show that the bill’s change to Medicaid could potentially result in as many as 7.6 million Americans losing their health insurance over the next decade. It will cut approximately $698 billion from the house version of the program. An estimated $1 trillion will be cut in the Senate version.

The measure cuts $267 billion in federal spending on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, known as SNAP or Food Stamps, the CBO said of the House version. It also places work requirements on people aged 55 to 64 who will benefit from a program that provides food aid to around 42 million Americans.

People with student loan debt

Student loan relief regulations enacted by President Joe Biden’s administration will be abolished in the House version, reducing the number of loan repayment plans held by the federal government to two programs. The bill also places a significant cap on loans for parents and undergraduate students, while eliminating loan programs for future graduate students.

Higher federal deficits

According to the CBO, the bill’s provisions will increase the federal deficit by $3.8 trillion from 2026 to 2034, according to the CBO, which cited an extension of the 2017 tax law and changes to the tax system, including its income and expenditure.

Undocumented people

The bill will increase the fees for legal immigration. It charges a $1,000 fee on asylum requests and requires a $500 payment every six months for work approval, USA Today reported. Among other fees, immigrants will charge hundreds of dollars when appealing a court decision.

The bill would also discourage the state from using its own money to provide Medicaid compensation to undocumented children.

Three former bosses of British nurse Lucy Lett have been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter

0

London
CNN

Three people arrested on Tuesday, British police said on Tuesday that they found Lucy Lebby, a child murderer who worked for nurses and convicted child murderer Lucy Lebby.

Three senior staff members, not named by the police, worked at the Countess of Chester Hospital in 2015 and 2016 at Letoby. All three suspects were released on bail after being questioned by police on Monday.

“It is important to note that this does not affect Lucy Lebby’s conviction for multiple crimes, including murder and attempted murder,” Cheshire Constabrary Detective Director Paul Hughes said in a statement.

The investigation aspects related to the latest arrests focus on “an individual’s severely negligent behavior or omission,” police said. Meanwhile, another ongoing part of the investigation into separate crimes of corporate manslaughter charges “focuses on senior leaders and their decision-making to determine whether a crime has occurred in relation to the increased levels of fatality.”

Lebby, 34, was found guilty of killing seven children and attempting to kill seven more people between June 2015 and June 2016 while working for the newborn squad at a hospital in Chester, England. The former nurse has served 15 all-biological punishments.

The court heard in the 2023 case that Lettby attacked the baby in her care by administering air to the blood and stomach, overdose with milk, physically attacking, and poisoning them with insulin.

However, her belief has been criticized after an international panel of experts raised questions about medical evidence.

The panel said there was no medical evidence of murder and that the baby’s collapse was attributed to “natural causes or bad medical care.”

It also highlighted the issue of unsafe delays in diagnosis and treatment at the Countess of Chester Hospital, saying staff “maybe exceeded expected capabilities or designated levels of care,” according to the British Medical Journal (BMJ).

Last week, former UK Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt called for an “urgent review” after experts raised “serious and reliable” questions.

An independent expert says “the deaths of 17 people considered in the trial of what is called malicious and malicious have no medical evidence of malicious intent,” Hunt said in an interview with Good Morning Britain. “If they’re saying that, I really think I need to do this.”

Three senior staff members working at the same time as the Countess of Chester Hospital, seen here in 2023, were arrested Monday.

“Rett doesn’t claim to be innocent. That’s not my place… the pain endured by the affected families must also be at the forefront of our minds,” Hunt wrote in another manipulation last month in the Daily Mail newspaper, claiming that the family deserves the truth. “And if it’s a medical error, we can ensure that the baby doesn’t die from the same mistake.”

Letoby maintains her innocence, and her attorney Mark McDonald filed an application for the case to be reviewed by the committee earlier this year. Lebby’s previous attempts to overturn her beliefs were rejected by the court.

McDonald told the UK’s PA media on Tuesday that an appropriate and complete public investigation into the failures by hospital’s newborn and pediatric medical units is needed.

“The concerns raised by many people will not go away. We will continue to discuss them publicly,” McDonald said. “The reality is that 26 internationally renowned experts have seen the incident and the leading experts have concluded that no crime had been committed and that the baby had not been killed.”

The public government investigation is scheduled to be made public in early 2026. The study has previously heard evidence from senior hospital leaders about concerns about increased infant deaths on newborns and concerns about the consequential behavior.

Cheshire police said they continue to investigate “baby death and non-fatal collapse in neo-natal units at both the Countess of Chester Hospital and the Liverpool Women’s Hospital.” Elements of the investigation relating to corporate manslaughter and manslaughter charges are also ongoing, police said.

A spokesperson for the Countess of Chester Hospital said it was “not appropriate” for the hospital to comment for “ongoing police investigations” and public investigations, the PA reported.

What the swinger has to say

0

play

After hearing the closing argument, 12 ju judges will return to Manhattan Court on June 30th to deliberate the verdict of Sean “Diddy” Combs’ criminal trial.

It took about five hours to finish the discussion on June 27th. Combs lawyer Marc Agnifilo claimed that the prosecutor distorted a consensual sexual “lifestyle” by the music mogul into criminal activity. He also focuses on testimony from his former girlfriend Cassandra “Cathy” Ventura Fine, a witness to the prosecution star, calling their relationship “one of the great modern love stories.”

“If you had to give their sex life a label, I think you could call it a swinger,” Agnifilo said.

Combs, 55, was arrested in September on charges of assault, sex trafficking and transporting to engage in prostitution.

The rapper’s legal team first provided a window into defense during the court hearing on April 25th, claiming that Combs was not a federal sexual offence because he was engaged in sexual “shaking.”

But Combs’s alleged behavior “doesn’t do anything” with Swinger Lifestyle, says Brett Chamberlin, a nonprofit organization that works to expand acceptance of families with unfamous relationships.

“Swinging as a legal defense to explain harmful behavior in order to use non-unique or shaking as a legal defense can incorrectly characterise what these relationship structures are and can hurt our community by reinforcing potentially harmful stereotypes,” he said.

What is shaking?

“Swing” is a consensual, unfamous sexual behavior that occurs when a committed single or partner engages in an intimate act.

One study from the North American Swing Club Alliance states that 15% of our couples have tried it at least once in their marriage, but it is unclear how many will be involved in today’s swing.

It has been announced that it is at the heart of this lifestyle, and the consenting Sexual Freedom Coalition spokesman Susan Wright said it is an advocacy group for the consensus-based non-modern community. This requires a long conversation to set safe boundaries and ensure that all parties agree “eagerly”;

“Non-exclusive people joke that they spend more time talking about sex than they have sex,” she said. “These relationships prioritize communication, mutual agreement and respect for all involved.”

These conversations take place frequently before and after the activity, Chamberlin said. Non-exclusive advocacy organizations such as Open Educate Communities are free to give you without pressure or enforcement, and will be revoked at any time, informing you of sexually transmitted diseases, substances, enthusiastic and specific things.

“The key difference between non-ethical non-monogamy is that these conversations happen positively and intentionally, rather than assuming that they share the same expectations,” he said. “No except “heck yes.” ”

Diddy’s “Freak-Off” Party

Kylie George, 34, was “furiated” to learn Diddy’s defense claims he was part of the swing community.

“It’s really irresponsible and hurts the community,” said George, a sex and relationship coach in Cleveland, Ohio, who specializes in the unrealistic stuff.

After details of the music mogul’s “freak-off” party are revealed, the swinger says it’s not in line with most famous events revolving around safety, respect and consent.

Combs’ ex-girlfriend Casandra Ventura Fine, known as pop singer Cathy, testified on May 13th about rapper “Freak Offs,” describing it as a drug-fuel session session that lasted between 36 and 72 hours. Cathy said she felt a slight meant sexual performance and felt the session was putting pressure on her to recover for hours from drugs, dehydration and lack of sleep.

Drugs are not usually part of swinger events, and many participants prefer not to drink alcohol, George said. Body language plays a role in consent, and substances can cloud certain cues that indicate someone is uncomfortable.

It is also common for large events to assign monitors that are not involved in any activity but that ensure attendees and members are comfortable and compliant, Wright said. They also act as pointers to report fraud.

While consent is always a goal, recent sex club scandals suggest that it is not always achieved. A New York Times investigation found that former members of the Brooklyn Sex Club reported cases of abuse, assault and rape while living there.

The dynamics of celebrities and power

Sheila Addison, a couple and sex therapist in Seattle, Washington, said that when there is a power imbalance, it is especially important to ensure consent is always in non-exclusive events. As a celebrity and record executive, Combs had many powers.

“If you ask people to do something and invite people to do something, that burden falls on you to really make it clear that this is an invitation, not an order or an order,” she said.

George, who follows podcasts and social media, keeps this in mind when attending events. She explains the dynamics of force so that she can make “extra communication” with her partner and make powerful decisions.

“These principles apply to all relationships, but non-monopoly places them at the heart of the practice of relationships rather than treating them implicitly,” Chamberlin said.

He emphasizes that allegations of abuse, coercion and exploitation committed against combs are “opposite of unethical indifferent.”

“What’s not ethical is creating more honest and communicative relationships. Never about allowing harmful behavior,” Chamberlin said.

Can the Grid cope with the growing appetite of AI?

0

As the AI Energy Council gathers, the questions hanging in the air are: How can you move the future without blowing the grid?

The large data centers needed to train and run modern AI are craving electricity. Data centre power usage in the UK is on track to increase six times by 2034. At that point, you can smoke almost a third of the electricity in the country. This is a huge tension to have a system built for a completely different world, with predictable one-way power flow.

The AI Energy Council, a team-up with Tech Giants, Energy Firms, OFGEM Regulator and National Energy System Operator, has an important job of predicting how thirsty this AI Beast is. Their work is happening just as the government is putting £2 billion into AI’s Opportunity Action Plan. This is an epic vision for weaving AI into hospitals, classrooms and businesses.

Peter Kyle, UK’s science and technology secretary, said: “Ensuring researchers and innovators access to the processing power they need will not only maintain their position as the world’s third largest AI force, but will also place UK expertise at the heart of AI breakthroughs, improving our lives, modernizing public services, and inducing economic growth, the basis of planning for change.

“We are looking clearly on the need to confirm that British AI can strengthen this golden age through responsible and sustainable energy sources. Today’s talk will help us to drive that mission and provide AI infrastructure that benefits the country’s communities as generations come without drawing up the ambitions of clean energy superpowers.”

It is difficult to exaggerate the enormous scale of the energy problem. Globally, data centers are expected to double the amount of electricity they need in just five years, and ultimately the entire UK is demanding three times the amount of electricity they currently use. AI is the main culprit.

One rack of AI servers may require 120 kW of power. This is a big leap from 5-10 kW, where you need a regular rack. These do not drink steady power either. AI workloads surge unpredictably, creating sudden, large-scale power surges that threaten the stability of the entire grid.

In response, the UK is planning a monumental overhaul. The centerpiece is a “Great Grid Upgrade” and a £58 billion investment designed to be a “generational expansion” for the power network. This includes building new, large-capacity electrical highways running from north to south, and expanding offshore grids to bring about a huge amount of new wind power.

Ed Miliband, secretary of Energy Security and NetZero, commented:

“To bring together the biggest players in AI and energy will help us to discuss the role that AI will play in creating a new era of clean electricity for our country and meeting the power demands of new technologies in building clean electricity systems for families and businesses.”

However, there is a major obstacle. Even if you build wind farms and solar panels, connecting them to power grids to address the current surge in AI demand is another story. The current process is slow, with over 600 renewable energy projects (billions of worth) queued. Some people say they could be waiting for 15 years.

Emergency reforms are being pushed to try to clear this backlog. This is an important step if the future of AI is to have green energy. The government is also trying to speed things up by declaring data centers as “critical national infrastructure” and setting up “AI growth zones” that allow for rapid tracking of plans and power connections.

The data center industry is moving from part of the problem to part of the solution. Not only is it a pig of power, it is also becoming an active partner in the energy grid. Many are chasing net zero targets, investing in their own on-site renewable power and taking part in the “demand side response” program. This means that you can intelligently pause non-urgent AI tasks when the grid is under stress and fire them again when green energy is abundant, balancing the entire system.

The AI itself is also useful. You can also use the same complex algorithms that require so much power to make your grid smarter, predict energy spikes, and optimize power flow in real time.

It’s obvious from now on, but it’s not easy. The UK has the right idea and puts serious money on the table to address the power grid demands of AI, but it all depends on speed and execution. You need to break the grid connection jam and great grid upgrades need to occur at the pace.

Can employees contribute to the FSA during unpaid leave?

0

Johnny C. Taylor Jr. is working on your HR questions as part of the USA Today series. Taylor is the world’s largest HR professional society and the president and CEO of the Human Resources Management Association, author of “Reset: A Guide to Leaders to Work in an Era of Trending Times.”

Do you have a question? Please send it here.

question: I am considering taking unpaid leave via the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA). Can I continue to contribute to my FSA (flexible spending account) even if my employer isn’t paying me during my holidays? – Nisha

Answer: Taking unpaid leave via the Family and Medical Leave Act is an important decision that prioritizes your health and family needs. It is commendable to consider how this will affect flexible spending accounts, as it demonstrates foresight and prudence. Here are some ways to contribute and potentially continue to FSA during your vacation:

Under FMLA regulations, you reserve the right to maintain your contribution to the dependent care FSA during your holidays. The IRS guidelines provide several options for managing these contributions.

  1. prepayment: Before you begin your FMLA leave, you may choose to advance payment of contributions made while you are away. This strategy will allow you to continue to benefit seamlessly from FSAs, maintaining financial stability and planning flexibility.
  2. Continuous pay deduction: If you have paid a portion of your FMLA leave, you can continue with your regular pay deduction. This is probably the simplest method. Because it requires no additional action other than to ensure that HR can set everything up correctly.
  3. Direct contribution: During unpaid leave, you can arrange to make FSA contributions directly through your employer, following the same schedule as your regular payroll deduction.
  4. Contributions to advanced payments and catch-up: Some employers allow FSA contributions to advance. This requires careful financial planning, but ensures that the FSA’s profits are not interrupted.

Additionally, as with those taking non-FMLA holidays, you will have the flexibility to coordinate your FSA elections under your cafeteria plan if your situation changes. If you need to temporarily suspend your contribution, you will be permitted to re-register on return.

With this extensive list of options, absence does not interfere with the ability to acquire and use the benefits of an FSA.

It is important to consult with your HR department to understand specifically how these options are implemented within your organization. Each employer may have different procedures based on planning guidelines.

FMLA and IRS guidelines are designed with your happiness in mind and support you at a time when work needs to take the back seat to personal health and family responsibilities.

Think of this as a proactive step to maintaining your overall life balance and ensuring financial health during your holidays.

MDMA Therapy – and common psychedelic therapies are growing through controversial areas. Some mental health experts have advertised issues, particularly post-traumatic stress disorder and PTSD, as a future of treatment, but the FDA has not approved it.

“For a long time, psychedelics have kind of frowned,” psychotherapist Amy Morin previously told USA Today. “We thought they were more recreational medicines, but if you look closely, you can see that they are actually really good treatments for depression, anxiety, substance abuse issues and more.”

What is psychedelic, MDMA therapy?

Unlike typical psychiatric drugs, psychedelic therapy is a talk therapy experience that requires special care and supervision. Matthew W. Johnson is a senior researcher of excellence for psilocybin research and treatment, previously spoke to the US at Shepherd Pratt’s Institute of Advanced Diagnosis and Treatment.

“It’s not just giving me medicine,” he said. “It involves therapeutic relationships, where you are encouraged to dive into experiences, learn something from the experience you have with substances, process it, and integrate it (and) in the next few days.”

The data suggest that the real benefits of psychedelic therapy come from both experience and conscious reflections of it, Johnson added.

“It’s not working at a surface level,” Johnson said. “People come out of stories,” this is what I learned about myself. This is how I see myself now and this is how I saw myself before. And then there’s the shift.

This form of treatment may help people who are not able to help other forms of treatment, but Johnson said it is important not to view psychedelic therapy as an alternative to traditional methods. Rather, he describes it as another “toolbox tool” for mental health treatment.

Where is MDMA therapy standing now?

Despite growing interest in MDMA and other forms of psychedelic therapy, the Food and Drug Administration is refraining from MDMA approval for mental health treatments.

In August 2024, the FDA rejected a California pharmaceutical company’s request to sell MDMA in combination with Talk Therapy as a treatment for PTSD. Federal drug regulators told San Jose of Lykos Therapeutics in California that it has completed a review of the company’s application but will not approve MDMA as a treatment for PTSD. Instead, federal regulators requested that Ricos conduct another, advanced stage clinical study on drug safety and efficacy.

In June 2024, the FDA’s Psychopharmacological Drug Advisory Committee voted 9-2 for MDMA as an effective treatment for patients with PTSD, with 10-1 voting that the benefits of the drug do not outweigh the risks. During the advisory committee discussion, members acknowledged the need for new PTSD treatments, but raised questions about the company’s data and research design.

Time indicates how mainstream MDMA therapy evolves, whether it is a road song.

The number of deaths from the explosion and fire at Sigc.NS Chemical Factory in Sigachi Industries in southern India has risen to at least 39, officials said on Tuesday that suppliers of Pharma products were forced to close operations for 90 days.

The Telangana government, where the facility is located, has established a five-person committee to investigate the incident. The cause has not been disclosed by the company yet.

Officials said Monday’s explosion also injured 34 people.

“We’re still cleaning up the wreckage,” GV Narayana Rao, director of Telangana Fire and Disaster Response Services, told Reuters, adding that the building had completely collapsed.

“Once we all finish the clearing, we can assess whether other bodies are still under the wreckage and whether it’s all clear,” Rao said.

Officers said more than 140 people were working in the factory when the incident occurred. Twenty-five of the deceased have not been identified yet, said district administration official P. Pravinina.

The death toll from a powerful explosion at Indian chemical plants rose to 36. The search and rescue operations continued on the second day of July 1st,
The nurse will be present to the victim being treated at a hospital injured in the explosion.

“I came out (of the plant) and blew out loud using the toilet. It sounded like a bomb. I came out and set it on fire. Some of the fire spread towards me too. I jumped onto the wall and ran away.”

“Many of them (inside) managed to get away, but a lot of them were trapped and didn’t come out,” Gown added.

Sigachi, which manufactures microcrystalline cellulose (MCC), serves clients in the pharmaceutical, food, cosmetics and specialty chemical sectors of the country, from the US to Australia.

The compression rate, binding properties, and ability to enhance drug release of MCCs become important components in pharmaceutical manufacturing. It also prevents the formation of clumps in food, maintains the texture of cosmetics, and is used as a fat replacement for low-calorie foods.

Firefighters put out the fire after an explosion and fire at the Sigc.NS chemical plant in Sigachi Industries, southern India.

Sigachi’s Telangana plant contributes one-quarter of its total capacity to over 21,700 million tons per year.

Its stock fell about 8% on Tuesday, heading towards the sharpest two-day decline on record.

Sigachi has stopped working at the factory for 90 days starting Monday, citing damage to equipment and structures. The factory is fully insured and the company has begun claims.

Five people were killed in another incident on Tuesday, and four others were injured in a massive fire at a cracker factory in Shivakasi manufacturing cluster in southern Tamil Nadu, the fire department said. The incident is the latest in a series of fire accidents in the area.
