After Buffalo Wild Wings launched its latest appetizer deal, the appetizer culture is alive and thriving.

Since June 27th, the WING chain has begun offering bottomless apps starting at $9.99 for parties of four or less. The company made clear last month that more than five parties will make additional charges.

A spokesperson for Buffalo Wild Wings told USA Today.

The agreement allows guests to devour endless rounds of two appetizers at once to hatch queso, chips and salsa from onion rings, mozzarella cheese sticks and fried pickles.

The company warns that prices will be higher in five states, including California, New York, Oregon, Washington, Hawaii and Alaska, but the company is available all day to meal customers at participating locations.

When did Buffalo Wild Wings eat?

The $9.99 endless appetizer deal, which began in June, comes after the chain returned in April after regaining its beloved time with Wings and fries.

Dine-in Customers across the country have the option to enjoy endless boneless wings and fries for $19.99, and the deal allowed the brand’s 26 sauces and dry friction.

The chain also offers a $24.99 option to customers ordering traditional or mixed and matching wings.

A staple of grocery stores for over 100 years, the canned food company has filed for bankruptcy to stay on the shelves.

Recognizable for its iconic green can, Del Monte Foods filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy this week. Longstreet said in a press release on July 1 that it would sign a restructuring agreement in hopes of reducing its debt and securing buyers for the remaining assets.

“After a thorough assessment of all available options, we determined that it is the most effective way to accelerate turnaround and create a stronger and lasting Delmonte food,” Longstreet said in a statement. “We face challenges that have been intensified by the dynamic macroeconomic environment, but Del Monte Foods has been nourishing our families for nearly 140 years. We continue to work on our mission to expand access to great, nutritious food products for all.”

The company said it has set aside $912.5 million from investors to continue floating during the restructuring, and the release intends to continue serving its customers. In addition to the canned vegetable brand Del Monte, the company also owns Soup and Stock brand College Inn and Tea brand Joyba.

Historic Dodgers Night Highlights

LOS ANGELES – Clayton Car Show joined the luxury club.

The longtime Los Angeles Dodger Ace is the 20th pitcher in baseball history and hits 3,000 batters.

The 37-year-old left-handed Kershaw reached the milestone when he attacked Vinny Capra of the Chicago White Sox at Dodger Stadium on Wednesday, July 2nd.

Kershaw, a 10-time All-Star and three-time Cy Young winner, took part in the game with 2,997 strikeouts. Kershaw did not register a strikeout in the first two innings, but Miguel Vargas swinged on the first out of the third. However, Kershaw struggled in the first three innings and gave up four runs, including a third Austin Slater two-run homer.

He didn’t attack anyone even in the fourth innings. He headed fifth on the 80th pitch and added drama to what was expected to be a Corner crown.

Kershaw finished fifth with the strikeout No. 2,999, but on the 92 pitch. Manager Dave Roberts sent back the Car Show for the sixth time. With two outs after 3 base hand Max Mancy was injured by applying a tag on 3 base, Kershaw hit Vinny Capra looking for a magical 3,000.

He will become the fourth left-handed pitcher to join the 3,000 strikeout club, joining Steve Carlton, Randy Johnson and CC Sabathia. Kershaw is the second player to follow in the footsteps of Walter Johnson and Bob Gibson and achieve all the feats at one club.

Kershaw gave up four runs in six innings and took 3,000th place on his 100th night. He was on the hook for loss until the Dodgers gathered to win a walk-off single from Freddie Freeman in the ninth bottom.

On May 25, 2008, Kershaw hit his first batter as a 20-year-old rookie made his major league debut with the Dodgers. As his 18-year career unfolded, strikeouts began to pile up.

He led the National League three times – in 2011, 2013 and 2015, and recorded a career-high 301 in 2015.

Nolan Ryan holds the highest record ever with 5,714 strikeouts.

Before the creation of the Carshow history began, Roberts said the club’s icon had this milestone in mind when he decided to return to his 18th season.

“He loves to compete,” Roberts said. “I certainly want to see it all the way through October. …I think it’s important to be able to come back and go out on essentially his own terms, and I don’t think many people will get the opportunity.”

Roberts said: “It’s the last box where Clayton checks in his incredible career.”

There are no penalties or complaints for delays in this game. The Dodgers paused the action minutes after Kershaw recorded a strikeout No. 3,000. After joining his teammate in the dugout, Kershaw returned to the field and admitted the cheering fans.

He also pointed out the family as the videoboard congratulated the Car Show on “3,000 strikeouts.”

The Kershaw was swinging with Renin Sosa to finish the scoreless five innings with strikeout No. 2,999, but it went 92 pitches in five innings. Will Dave Roberts send him back to start sixth?

The White Sox are not cooperating For the car show

It’s dimly limp that Kershaw is notching his 3,000th strikeout tonight. He only needs two, but he has already pitched 80 pitches in four innings and the White Sox have not cooperated.

Fourth, he scored two counts for the night, the White Sox rejected whim. They also couldn’t get a hit or run, but kept the Dodgers’ 4-2 lead.

Car Show Notch is Strikeout No. 2,998

Don’t mind the Kersho who gave up a 2-run homer to Austin Slater to lift the White Sox to 3-2. The Dodgers crowd cried out as Kershaw hit his next batter, Michael Vargas, in No. 2,998.

Kershaw gave up a total of three runs and four hits before breaking out of the innings. The game heads towards the third bottom, with the White Sox leading 4-2, and Kershaw needs another 3 pitches on two pitches.

This is beginning to feel like one of the obstacles of the Car Show postseason.

The car show calms down Second: No strikeouts yet

After struggling in the first innings, Kershaw retiring White Sox players in two innings in turn, but not a strikeout. Kershaw trampled on Vinny Capra for short to end the frame.

Kershaw escaped from the innings on 10 pitches, increasing to a total of 39 in two innings.

Clayton Car Show heads to Rocky Start It remains at 2,997

Clayton Kershaw worked throughout the first innings that ended without a strikeout, and he reassured his forehead.

He faced six White Sox batters and gave up on running with three hits. The Dodgers sealed damage in a left Fielder, leaving Fielder Michael Comfort, when he made a jumping catch on the wall for a third out. Kershaw pitched 29 pitches and Route 19 in the first innings.

Catcher Will Smith hit a home run at the first bottom to tie the game together.

Clayton Kershaw is the best Dodgers pitcher Until now?

Before the game, Roberts was asked whether Kershaw was the greatest pitcher in Dodgers history. In other words, is Kershaw better than the Dodgers pitching legendary Sandy Koufax and Don Dorisdale?

“It’s tough,” Roberts says, indicating that he didn’t compare the performance of the three pitchers. However, he referenced Kershaw’s 18-year career.

“As long as you’re talking about the body of work, it’s hard not to say that Clayton is the greatest Dodger (pitcher) ever. …Yeah, he’s a unicorn.”

The Cardinals did not have tapes of a 20-year-old child scheduled to make their major league debut on May 25, 2008. No one had a scouting report. None of the minors faced him. So they began to ask each other if anyone knew anything about the Dodgers’ valuable outlook.

Skip Schumaker led for the Cardinals and stepped into the plate with a game plan.

“I thought I was going to ambush him and welcome him into the big leagues,” Shumaker told USA Today Sports. “The first pitch was a heightened fastball. It was more difficult and faster than I thought, I shaking and missed. Then he threw a curveball, which was different.

“And well, I hit it out.”

Schmaker finished his career with the Carshow 0-7 with six strikeouts and grounded a double play.

“Clayton Kershaw is “the most dominant pitcher I’ve ever played in my career. I’ve never seen anyone like him,” says Schmaker.

Stocks rising in Vietnam trade agreement will be closed

NEW YORK, July 2 (Reuters) – The S&P 500 and the Nasdaq closed on Wednesday, easing concerns about an extension of the trade war with high-tech stock profits and news of a trade deal between the US and Vietnam.

Boasted by Nasdaq Rose, Nvidia, Apple and Tesla.

Investors are looking forward to Thursday’s non-farm pay report on clues on whether the Federal Reserve can reduce borrowing costs.

Trump’s massive tax and spending bill went to the US House of Representatives for possible final approval after the Senate passed legislation. Nonpartisan analysts say it will add $3.4 trillion to national debt over the next decade.

The market opened lower after data unexpectedly fell in June, showing that the previous month’s employment acquisition was less than initially thought.

“We’re looking forward to seeing you in the process of exploring the world’s most innovative and important aspects of our efforts to ensure we’re committed to providing a range of services,” said Jim Awad, senior managing director at Clearstead Advisors LLC in New York.

“Softing and inducing the Fed is positive, but if it gets too soft, it’s negative for growth and profits.”

Trade contracts cause relief

Investors have seen whether President Donald Trump’s administration continues to advance trade, said Michael Aron, chief investment strategist at State Street Global Advisor in Boston.

“There is some relief on trade progress. The contract with Vietnam has welcomed the news,” Arone said.

According to preliminary data, the S&P 500 scored 29.28 points (0.47%) with 6,227.29 points, while the Nasdaq Composite scored 190.24 points (0.94%) at 20,393.13. The Dow Jones industrial average fell 8.70 points (0.02%) to 44,486.24.

The US and Vietnam attacked trade agreements that set 20% tariffs on many of the Southeast Asian countries’ exports.

The Trump administration teased that deals with India will also be coming soon, but others said they may not be ready by July 9th.

Tesla will rebound

Tesla bouncing after dropping early this week, despite the electric car maker’s dropping significantly in second quarter delivery. Some traders said the numbers were less severe than the dark predictions of analysts. Stock prices have flowed by more than 20% this year.

Centene fell after health insurance companies said they had withdrawn their 2025 revenue forecast after data showed a significant drop in revenue expected from market health insurance plans.

The focus is on a more comprehensive non-farm pay report on Thursday, one day earlier than usual, with the market closed on July 4th on Independence Day. The reading is expected to show that job growth cooled in June, reaching 4.3% unemployment rates, according to a Reuters economist poll.

“It’s likely that investors are hoping that this will push the Fed to a reduction rate sooner than it’s slower,” Arone said.

British lawmakers vote to ban pro-Palestinian activist groups under anti-terrorism law despite denunciations

0

CNN

British lawmakers voted Wednesday to ban Palestine Action, a UK-based group aimed at disrupting the operations of arms manufacturers that supply the Israeli government.

Members of the parliament voted between 382 and 26 in support of measures against the group after two Palestinian activists invaded Britain’s largest air force base in central England and caused damage to two military aircraft.

The draft ban will reach the Senate Thursday. If approved by a senator, the ban will come into effect the following day.

A complete ban means that under British law it is illegal to be a member of Palestinian actions or invite assistance. It set up groups on par with terrorist organizations such as Hamas, al-Qaeda and ISIS, sparking criticism from UN experts, human rights groups and politicians.

UK Interior Secretary Yvette Cooper confirmed the government’s intention to ban the group on June 23 after two Palestinian action activists sprayed red paint on two Airbus Voyager turbine engines.

Videos from the scene showed activists spraying red paint on the turbine engines of two Airbus Voyagers. The group says their suspect role in carrying military cargo and it is being used in refueling military aircraft in Israel, the US and the UK.

A source from the Ministry of Defense told CNN at the time that RAF Voyager hadn’t carried anything to Israeli forces or refueled Israeli aircraft.

Palestinian actions announced Monday that they have begun legal proceedings against the government’s decision. Huda Ammori, co-founder of the group, said Crumpdown reflects “many authoritarian regimes around the world that used counterterrorism to crush dissent.”

If the ban comes into force, it is likely that this is the first time in British history that direct action protest groups have been banned under anti-terrorism law, according to some human rights advocates.

People who violate the ban could face up to 14 years in prison, according to the British terrorism police and the government. Police say that even if an individual wears clothing items that “stimulates reasonable doubt” that they are members of the group or supporters, they could face six months of prison or fines.

Human rights groups have been vehemently criticising the government’s moves, saying it is the latest in a series of harsh measures the state has taken to crack down on the country’s legal protests.

Sacha Deshmukh, chief executive of Amnesty International UK, said on June 23 that prohibiting Palestine’s actions could put the fundamental rights of peaceful assembly and freedom of expression and “illegal interference.”

She wrote to lawmakers on Tuesday to warn that banning the group would be a “serious misuse of the forces of anti-terrorism.”

“To ban Palestine’s actions means that by the end of the weekend, millions of people living in the UK will have restrictions on their freedom of speech,” she said.

UN experts also said they were worried about “unfair labelling of political protests as “terrorists”” in addition to the chorus of increasing criticism on Tuesday.

Others previously shared messages of solidarity with the group. “We’re all Palestinian actions,” Labour MP Zara Sultana posted on X on June 24th.

Palestinian actions called the government’s response to air-based actions “indifference.”

“The real crime here isn’t the spraying of red paint on these war planes, but the war crimes made possible on those planes due to the accomplices of the British government in the Israeli genocide,” the group said in a statement on June 24th.

Kara Fox from CNN contributed to this report.

“Tax on Tips” works and who will benefit the most

0

On July 1, the Senate narrowly approved Trump’s tax bill. This includes provisions that the President’s “no tax on tips” campaign promises reality.

play

The “no tax on tips” proposal has widespread support among political parties and Americans, but critics, including restaurant trade groups, warn that tax credits are expensive and could only apply to certain workers.

On July 1, the Senate narrowly approved President Donald Trump’s policy bill. This includes provisions that the President’s “no tax on tips” campaign promises reality. The House began discussing the law on July 2nd, urging Trump to be ready to sign the bill by July 4th.

So far, we know how “no tax on tips” plays out and who will benefit.

How does “Tax on Tips” work?

The Senate version of the tax bill could create a temporary tax credit for income from tips through 2028.

Unlike the House bill, which is only offered to workers under $160,000 a year, the Senate version would reduce the deduction for workers making more than $150,000, rather than exclude them entirely. The Senate bill also limits the deduction to $25,000.

The bill also creates a new deduction for overtime salaries through 2028. The home version does not have a cap and applies only to workers under $160,000 a year, but the Senate bill caps the deduction at $12,500 and reduces the deduction for those making more than $150,000.

Who will benefit from the lack of tax on tips?

Tax cuts do not apply to payroll taxes, so based on the 2022 tax figures, about 37% of people who don’t make enough to pay federal income taxes won’t benefit from the tax credits.

Erika Polmer, executive director of the Independent Restaurant Coalition, said the tax credits are also confusing and unfair for certain workers.

“This bill is ultimately unfair to the Line Cook, dishwasher, porters and prep staff, essential for independent restaurants,” Polmer said in a July 1 statement. “We urge Congress to amend tax laws, and all tribute-based income (hints and service fees) will earn the same relief and give businesses a single, stable set of rules.”

Polmer added that the tax credit “is expensive for business owners and taxpayers too.” The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office predicts there may be no tax on hints.

There are also concerns that tax cuts could exacerbate national transformation fatigue. The IRC statement points to a report from the Institute of Economic Policy, a left-leaning think tank. This said the proposal could encourage employers to lean more strongly towards tips.

The bill has received praise from another industry trade group, the National Restaurant Association.

According to Sean Kennedy, the group’s executive vice president of public relations, the association is “pleasant” to include tips and a policy that deducts taxes on overtime.

“The bill includes the most important supportive tax policy needed for restaurant operators to continue to maintain power in the national economy,” Kennedy said in a July 1 statement. “We are grateful for the work we have acquired this bill through the Senate and encouraged the House to pass it quickly and send it to the President for signing it.”

How much can workers save?

According to the Budget Lab, the average tax cut for families with benefits of around $1,700 is around $1,700.

A February analysis from the Tax Policy Center, a joint venture between the Brookings Facility and Urban Research Institute, found that the Tip Termination Tax was a tax cut of around $1,800 a year for about 2% of all households, or 60% of 60% of workers.

Skydiving plane crashed at Crosskeys Airport in New Jersey

On Wednesday afternoon, July 2nd, a skydiving plane carrying 15 people left the runway as it took off from an airport in southern New Jersey.

The accident occurred around 5:20 pm local time at Crosskeys Airport in Gloucester County, about 20 miles southeast of Philadelphia. According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the aircraft involved as the Cessna 208B aircraft.

A FAA spokesperson said three passengers were taken to the Trauma Unit at Cooper University Hospital in Camden and evaluated.

Eight victims with “less serious injuries” have been evaluated, treated in Cooper’s emergency department, and four “minimal injuries are waiting for further evaluation,” the spokesman added.

Authorities were unable to provide further information regarding the injury.

The National Transportation Safety Board said it is investigating the crash and will provide additional information if available.

Residents were asked to avoid the area while paramedics were working on the scene, according to a report by Cherry Hill Courier-Post, part of the USA Today Network.

Crosskeys Airport in Williamstown is a known location for skydiving outings.

Sheikh Hasina, former Bangladesh Prime Minister, was declared absent by the International Court of Crimes

CNN

Bangladesh’s expelled and self-excluded Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was sentenced to six months in the country’s International Crime Court on Wednesday and sentenced to a trial comp trial, prosecutors said.

Hasina has faced multiple lawsuits since fleeing to India after a fatal student-led protest in August, but it was the first time a former leader has been sentenced by one of them.

Shakil Akhand Bulbul, the leader of the Awami League party’s banned student Wingchhatra League, was also sentenced to two months in the same case, Islamic Prosecutor Muhammad Tajur told reporters. The party was led by Hasina for years.

The three ICT courts led by Judge Golam Mortuza Mozumder said the verdict would be effective upon arrest or surrender, and the prosecutor added that they had verified in their absence.

The light emptying comes from leaked phone recordings where Hasina is said to have said, “There are 227 cases against me, so I have a license to kill 227 people.”

Forensic reports from government investigators later confirmed the authenticity of the audio.

Protesters clashed with police with Bangladesh (BGB), a border guard outside Dhaka's state-run Bangladeshi TV on July 19, 2024.

ICT was founded in 2010 by Hasina’s own government in 2010 to test the war crimes of 1971.

The Bangladeshi interim government led by Nobel Prize winner Mohammed Yunus has pledged to retain leaders, including Hasina, and has been responsible for abuse and corruption of rights, including the crackdown on the student-led uprising that overthrew Hasina’s regime in July last year.

The court has so far issued three arrest warrants for Hasina, including charges of crimes against humanity related to the violence in July. Hasina’s Awami League party remains banned, as trials against the party and its former leaders continue.

Hasina supporters dismiss the charges as politically motivated, but the interim government argues that the trial is important to restore accountability and rebuild trust in Bangladesh’s democratic system.

Kraftheinz reminds me of turkey bacon rather than listeria risk

play

Kraft Heinz is recalling approximately 367,812 pounds of fully cooked turkey bacon products that could be contaminated with Listeria Monocytogenes, the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), announced on Wednesday, July 2nd.

According to an announcement from FSIS, the bacon from the affected turkey was produced from April 24th to June 11th. According to public health agencies, shocking products with USDA inspection marks on the front of the label were shipped to retailers nationwide, with some exported to the UK’s Virgin Islands and Hong Kong.

FSI added that people who consumed recalled turkey bacon have no confirmed reports of “side effects.” The agency suggests that anyone concerned about the possibility of illness should contact their healthcare provider.

Which Kraft Heinz Turkish Bacon Products Recalled?

Here are the recalled Kraft Heinz Turkey bacon products:

  • 12 oz vacuum package from “Oscar Mayer Turkish Bacon Original”, Universal Product Code (UPC) “071871548601”, will be “used” from “August 2, 2025” to “Use” date on the “Use” date from “August 2, 2025” to “Use” date.
  • A 36 oz package containing three 12 oz vacuum package packages from “Oscar Mayer Turkish Bacon Original”. “RS40” or “RS42”.
  • It features a 48-ounce package that includes four 12-ounce vacuum packing packages from the “Oscar Mayer Turkey Bacon Original” and an “Oscar Mayer Turkey Bacon Original” with the UPC “071871548793”. “RS42.”

How was Listeria discovered in Kraftheinz Turkish Bacon?

According to FSIS, the issue was discovered after the company’s testing showed that the product could be contaminated with Listeria monocytogen.

Consuming foods contaminated with Listeria monocytogen can cause listeriosis, a serious infection that affects mostly the elderly, people with weakened immune systems, pregnant women and newborns.

What are the symptoms of Listeriosis?

According to the FSI, symptoms of listeriosis include fever, muscle pain, headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance and cramps.

Infections that are invasive and potentially spread beyond the gastrointestinal tract can lead to miscarriage, stillbirth, premature birth and life-threatening infections in pregnant women’s newborns, FSIS said. Serious and sometimes fatal infections are also possible in elderly people and those with weak immune systems.

According to public health agencies, anyone experiencing flu-like symptoms within two months of eating contaminated foods is encouraged to seek medical care and tell their healthcare providers about eating contaminated foods.

Listeriosis is commonly treated with antibiotics.

What should people do if they have recalled turkey bacon?

Anyone who has purchased the recalled Kraft Heinz turkey bacon products is being urged not to consume them, FSI said. The product must be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase immediately, the agency added.

“FSI is concerned that some products may be in consumer refrigerators or freezers,” the agency said.

The Pentagon cuts out some weapons to Ukraine when ammunition gets low

0

play

WASHINGTON – The US Department of Defense is cutting aid to Ukraine as part of what they call a full-scale temporary review amid looming concerns about a lack of US stockpiles.

The suspension of weapons delivery is part of a “competent review” to “ensure that US military aid is consistent with our defense priorities.” The military “have everything it needs to carry out its mission anywhere and anywhere in the world,” he added.

Ukrainian President Voldimi Zelenki said Ukraine and the United States “have clarified all the details of defense assistance, including defense, including air defense.”

At a meeting on the same day, the Ukrainian foreign minister told John Ginkel, deputy mission director of the US Embassy in Kiev, according to a press release from Ukraine’s foreign countries: “In order to support Ukraine’s defense capabilities, invaders don’t seek peace, they simply encourage them to continue war and terrorism, rather than seeking peace.

It is unknown which weapons are suspended. Reports say the delays include dozens of Patriot missiles, more than 100 Hellfire missiles, and more than 250 missiles for a precision guided missile system called the GMLRS.

Parnell said the Department of Defense would not release information on delayed weapons and ammunition types or review timelines.

It is also unclear whether the suspension will apply to the $3.4 billion that the US sends to Israel each year to strengthen missile defense. The announcement comes days after the State Department greenlighted another $510 million ammunition support equipment on June 30, and will be handed over to Congress for approval.

As of mid-March, the US had provided $66.9 billion in military aid since Russia began its invasion in February 2022, according to the State Department. This includes three Patriot Air Defence Systems that can defeat ballistic and cruise missiles, 12 NASAMS surface-to-air missile systems, over 3,000 Stinger anti-aircraft missiles and over 3 million rounds of 155mm guns.

President Donald Trump temporarily closed all military aid to Ukraine in March after a volatile meeting with Zelensky in his oval office, but resumed a few weeks later.

US support for Ukraine, Israel lowers missile stocks

The arms suspension comes as growing concerns that the US military support for Ukraine and Israel during the 12-day aviation war with Iran in June left a low level of Pentagon munitions and air defense systems.

During Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the blow traded between Israel and Iran, “another case of us having this level of consumption rate is not used to missiles and interceptors,” said John Ludwigson, director of the Contract and National Security Acquisition Team at the Government’s Accountability Bureau.

Naval Operations Chief James Kilby dad told Congress in early May that “many of our ammunition inventory is still below the overall ammunition requirements.”

Kilby’s testimony said “mumbah and spending related to the war in Ukraine, the Israeli-Hamas conflict,” and Hooty’s attacks on US ships in the Red Sea have reached up to $2.3 billion.

The Navy is also using naval interceptors that can defeat ballistic missiles at “amazing speeds,” Kilby said at a Senate budget hearing on June 24.

The US also used the Patriot Air Defence System to protect Qatar Al-Udaid Air Force Base from Iranian ballistic missiles in an attack that was launched by Iran for bombing three US nuclear facilities on June 21.

The Trump administration used more than $200 million in ammunition in the first three weeks of a two-month attack on the Hooty forces in Yemen, the New York Times reported.

Reports say Israel burned out with missile interceptors with a rapid clip, defeating projectiles launched by Iran during the 12-day war, draining stockpiles. Brandan Buck, a researcher at the Cato Institute, previously told USA Today that if the US restocks these interceptors, they will need to be pulled from other stockpiles.

Do I need to buy it? Things to know as the job market weakens.

0

play

You were offered shopping. Your employer wants to pay you to quit. It’s a huge chunk of change.

But leaving your job now means looking for new jobs in the weakening of the job market.

Should you accept the offer?

Companies offer shopping to thin the rank and spend the money in the short term to save money in the long term.

Employers often use shopping to avoid layoffs in a volatile economy. And that idea is that only you should give you a pause.

The Trump administration is aiming to offer takeovers to all federal workers this year, reducing it by up to 10%. Approximately 75,000 workers accepted.

The private sector has been offering acquisitions to US workers this year, including Google, Unitedhealthcare and Nissan.

Shopping may sound attractive. A five-digit retirement package may be the most money a worker has ever seen on a single salary. But it is also the final salary your employer gives you.

“It’s like a lottery winner. Some people think the money will last longer than that,” said Donna Walton, wealth strategist at TD Wealth.

If you are contemplating your shopping, some considerations are universal: how big is the retirement package? Am I close to retirement? Did you want to quit that job anyway?

However, the current economic environment presents its own challenges.

The US lost 33,000 private sector jobs in June, according to a closely watched monthly employment report released on July 2 by payroll provider ADP. This is the first month of private sector job losses for more than two years, and the latest indication that the job market will be slower.

Approximately 2 million Americans have not been working for more than six months, the Labor Bureau reported in May that it was the largest in more than two years. Companies are reducing employment due to uncertainty over President Trump’s tariffs. Artificial intelligence is swiping jobs from new graduates. A recession fears looms.

“It’s a very soft job market,” said Michele Evermore, a senior fellow at the National Academy of Social Security and a former Biden administration labor official. “It’s a very time of economic uncertainty. I think people depend on their work.”

Below are five tips for employees considering buying out in 2025.

Seek for an acquisition

Start with a proactive step. Maybe your employer doesn’t offer acquisitions. But you’re restless to make a difference and you’ve heard that your company wants to cut costs.

Consider approaching your manager and seeking an acquisition. Often there’s nothing to stop your employer from creating a voluntary retirement package just for you.

“We’re looking forward to seeing you in the future,” said Michael Scarpati, CEO of Retireus, the Financial Wellness platform. “It’s kind of a win-win for both parties.”

If you are looking for shopping first, you may get a better retirement package than your employer ultimately offers to everyone else.

But if you’re not ready to take it, don’t ask for shopping.

“If they provide it to you, you have to be willing to leave,” Walton said. “That’s not what you want to bluff.”

Negotiate terms of purchase

A typical acquisition could offer a 4-week payment. Furthermore, this is one week of my annual work at the company. Additional health insurance coverage may be available. It also helps you find a new job.

About half of the workers have accepted offers to buy without negotiating, AARP reports. But it is not harmful to demand better conditions.

“Think about going for a job interview,” Scarpati said.

You can seek a year’s retirement benefit rather than a few months. Perhaps your employer will cover health insurance costs while you are searching for a new job.

David John, senior strategic policy advisor at AARP Public Policy Institute, said some workers will hire lawyers to negotiate the acquisition.

That may sound extreme, but remember: an acquisition is a business proposal. Contracts can be complicated and sometimes include private contracts and non-competitive clauses.

Even if you haven’t taken your lawyer to buy-out negotiations, Walton said, “You should meet at least one person.”

Test the job market

Experts say you need to measure your likelihood of finding another job before you leave your current job.

If you’re working in a shrinking field, or in an area that is struggling financially, you may already know that.

“If you’re working for ThinkTank, it’s quite different to getting an acquisition in DC or if you’re working for an oil rig in South Dakota,” Evermore says.

Evermore said to find out how many people in your area are applying for unemployment insurance and how many people will last for the benefit role.

Better yet, apply for some jobs. Check if there is a bite. If not, it may be a good sign that is not for you.

In the best case scenario, you can line up new jobs before you make an acquisition.

Measure the risk of layoffs

Many employers offer shopping to avoid layoffs, or at least delay them.

If you have an acquisition offer, weigh the possibility of relying on layoffs once the acquisition is over.

“Responsible businesses will deal with those concerns right away and say yes or no,” said John of AARP.

If there is a possibility of layoffs, consider whether you could reach the layoff list. Ask your manager if you are vulnerable.

If your company has endured layoffs in the past, look at the retirement packages that those workers have received.

In some cases, Walton said the acquisition package might be “the same as what the company offers if we offer you six months from now.”

please take it easy

Many federal workers who have received shopping from the Trump administration only had a few weeks to make a decision.

Experts say it’s not that long.

“If you ask someone to make major life decisions that could involve relocating the whole family, you should get it for at least a few months,” Evermore said.

Ideally, Scarpati said six weeks would be the “minimum” time frame for the acquisition offer. 90 days is more reasonable.

Use that time to “think where you are in your career,” Evermore said. Tell your friends, colleagues, and loved ones about your options. Test the job market. Ask yourself if you are ready to uproot your family and move around the country.

Run the numbers. If you’re a medium career, are you sure you have enough emergency savings to survive a period of unemployment? How do you cover your health insurance? How generous is your state’s unemployment allowance?

If you’re nearing retirement: When did you plan to get Social Security? How will you cover your health insurance until Medicare begins? Do you have enough retirement savings?

Consider meeting with a financial planner.

“Ideally, I completed this financial plan before this happened.”

Smithsonian will lose shuttle to Texas with GOP expenditures and tax bills

Space Shuttle moves from the Smithsonian Museum to Texas under GOP Expenditure and Tax Bill

play

The GOP Expenses and Tax Bill will move from its current home at the annex of the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum, the Udber Hazy Center in Virginia to the Johnson Space Center in Houston.

The move was discovered by Sen, a Republican Texas. It was the legal goal brought to you earlier this year by Ted Cruz and John Cornyn. He said in April that Houston’s long-standing relationship with the space program should have been recognized by the space shuttle when the four retired to NASA in 2010.

Space Center Houston, where the shuttle will be on display, is the official visitor center of the Johnson Space Center in Houston. There is already a replica of the space shuttle independent, formerly known as Explorer.

The bill under consideration in the House this week sets $85 million to relocate and build the facility to accommodate and display space vehicles that meet three criteria. Selected by the organization chosen by the NASA administrator.

There are only four space vehicles that meet the first two criteria. Enterprises belonging to the Brave Museum of New York. Efforts to be a part of the California Science Center in Los Angeles. Discoveries at Atlantis and the Smithsonian on display at the Kennedy Space Center Visitors Floor.

Only Atlantis and the Discoveries are still owned by the US government. NASA owns Atlantis. The discovery was presented to the Smithsonian Facility, a semi-governmental agency in 2012.

It is very rare for a nationally important item to be removed from the Smithsonian. Discovery was the third operating orbiter to fly in space. It began service in 1984 and retired from SpaceFlight in 2011 as the oldest and most used orbiter. Hubble Space Telescope has been released.

The Smithsonian estimate to Congress was that it would cost between $300 million and $400 million in taxpayer dollars to move the discoveries nationwide.

At an event at Space Center Houston last week, Cornyn said Houston’s role in the space program deserves discovery, and although the space shuttle was not manufactured in Houston, it was not released by Houston, the space shuttle should “go home.” The Johnson Space Center served as mission control for the Space Shuttle program.

Nissan recalls more than 440,000 vehicles than engine failure issues

0

Nissan recalled more than 440,000 vehicles due to defects that could lead to engine failure.

The 25V437 recall includes the 2021-2024 Rogue, 2019-2020 Altima, 2019-2022 Infiniti QX50, and 2022 Infiniti QX55. The vehicle has a 3-cylinder 1.5-liter or 4-cylinder 2.0-liter variable compression turbo engine.

“Engine bearings may have manufacturing defects that can lead to engine failure,” Nissan announced on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website, adding that engine failure could lead to loss of motivational force and increase the risk of crashes.

Here’s what you need to know about the vehicle and what Nissan is doing about the issue:

Most of the vehicles that were recalled are 2021-2024 Nissan Rogues

Nissan said it has announced that 443,899 vehicles have been recalled, including:

  • 2021-2024 Nissan Rogue – 348,554 units
  • 2019-2022 Infiniti QX50 – 84,536 cars
  • 2019-2020 Nissan Altima – 5,685 units
  • 2022 Infiniti QX55 – 5,124 cars

How is Nissan fixing the issue?

The company said the dealer will inspect the engine oil pan for metal debris and repair or replace the engine for free if necessary.

For vehicles equipped with a three-cylinder 1.5L VC turbo engine, if debris is not found during inspection, the dealer will reprogram the oil pan gasket, engine oil and engine control module.

For vehicles equipped with a four-cylinder 2.0L VC turbo engine, if debris is not found, the dealer will change the engine oil.

If I have any of these vehicles, who should I call?

Nissan plans to notify dealers from July 15th and drivers from August 25th.

Drivers can contact Nissan’s Customer Service Line at 800-647-7261 or Infiniti’s Customer Service Line at 1-800-662-6200. The number of NHTSA recalls is 25V437.

Why Penn signed a contract with Trump

0

With the agreement, the Trump administration will lift the freeze on millions of federal funding for schools, said Madison Biederman, a spokesman for the Department of Education.

“Trump administrators will put their knees on their knees.”

It was Chalon on the screen of Fox News on July 1 as conservative host Laura Ingraham applauded for State Education Secretary Linda McMahon and anti-transgender activist Riley Gaines.

The trio was celebrating a controversial announcement made earlier in the day by the University of Pennsylvania, an Ivy League school in Philadelphia. As part of the contract, the university sent an apology letter to a female swimmer who competed with former transgender student Leah Thomas, who won a national title while competing in 2022.

In 2022, trans rights advocates celebrated a historic moment. Many conservatives criticize Thomas’ victory and claim that he has an unfair competitive advantage.

Penn said this week that it would ban trans athletes from participating in women’s sports. However, the change was ineffective immediately as Penn had no trans female athletes. Following an order by President Donald Trump that such participation is illegal, the National Athletics Association colleges have not allowed student-athletes who are not assigned women at birth to compete in women’s sports.

In exchange for Penn’s concessions, the Trump administration has taken a step that has rarely been taken since the government began targeting elite universities. It unlocked a million-dollar chunks of Penn’s federal funds that had been frozen for months.

Some have condemned the agreement as another political attack on higher education. Others welcomed it as a victory for female athletes.

The Education Secretary appears to see it as a blueprint for the university that it has determined that working with the Trump administration is in their best interest.

“I hope that the agreement will be a template for other universities that will acknowledge that there is no room for men in women’s sports,” she said on Fox.

March: $175 million frozen

In March, the federal government suspends Penn’s nearly $175 million contract, claiming it violated Title IX, the main law governing sex discrimination in schools that allowed Thomas to compete.

It wasn’t long before the professor began taking orders for stopwork on a wide range of projects. Research into preventing infections in hospitals, drug screening for deadly viruses, and stopping from chemical warfare grounds has been suspended at the time, he said.

Penn’s president J. Larry Jameson said the effect quickly became harmful.

“Federal funding will be frozen, and cancellations will put life-saving and life-improvement research at risk. That loss will be felt by society and individuals well beyond our campus for the next few years,” he said in an official statement on March 25th.

The funds will start flowing again, according to Madison Biederman, a spokesman for the education department.

In a new statement on July 1, the university president called the issue “complicated” and said he was pleased to have reached a resolution with the government.

“Our commitment to ensuring an environment of respect and welcoming for all students is unwavering,” he said. “At the same time, we must comply with federal requirements, including executive orders and NCAA eligibility rules, so that teams and student-athletes can engage in competitive intercollegiate sports.”

“Negotiation” or “Fear tor”?

Some higher education leaders criticized Penn’s agreement as unnecessary surrender. Todd Wolfson, president of the American Association of University Professors, called it “negotiations in the face of forced control.”

Penn sent a harmful message to trans students on campus, he said.

“At a meta level, universities cannot sell out trans people to meet the ideological demands of thugs,” he said.

Amanda Shanor, an associate professor at Wharton School, said students were split over whether Penn’s decision was correct. The day after the presentation, she felt a sense of “sadness and anger” among teachers like her.

“Would they leave their pens alone after this?” she said. “I don’t know.”

New research shows that there is no safe amount of processed meat to eat

0

Nutrition experts say there is strong evidence that “safe amounts” of processed meat can be eaten to eat, in response to new research on the risks of major diseases such as cancer, type 2 diabetes and heart disease. Researchers also found increased risks from sugar-subscribed drinks and trans fatty acid consumption.

Researchers analyzed data from over 60 previous studies on the relationship between processed meat, sugary drinks and trans fatty acids in human diets. The risk of type 2 diabetes, colorectal cancer, and ischemic heart disease reduces blood supply to the heart and reduces oxygen and nutrients..

“The habitual intake of small amounts of processed meat, sweet drinks and trans fatty acids is associated with an increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes, ischemic heart disease and colorectal cancer,” said Demewoz Haile, Ph.D., a research scientist in Shetl’s health metrics and assessments.

Data showed that people who ate one hot dog per day had an 11% increase in their risk of type 2 diabetes and a 7% increase in their risk of colon cancer, compared to those who did not eat. Drinking about 12 ounces of soda per day was also associated with an 8% increase in the risk of type 2 diabetes and a 2% increase in the risk of ischemic heart disease.

“This current study shows that it is again consistent with previous studies. It has been shown that avoiding or minimizing habitual consumption of processed meat, sugar processed beverages (SSBs), and industrially produced trans fatty acids (TFAs), to achieve health benefits. She was not involved in the study.

As consumption increased, risk increased. The data also showed that there was no “safe amount” due to the consumption of processed meat, she added in the email.

At first glance, the increased risk may seem modest and less relevant, Dr. Min-Yang Song said he is an associate professor of clinical epidemiology and nutrition at Harvard Chan Shaw, Public Health. He was not involved in the research.

“If you look at the actual data, it’s very consistent, very strong, and even lower consumption can increase the risk of illness,” he said.

Researchers used proof burden to investigate dozens of previous findings about diet and illness. A new form of meta-analysis that not only attempts to quantify associations in multiple studies, but also explains the quality of each. “One warning is that there is a tendency to have very conservative outcomes,” he added.

It is also important to note that the studies included in the analysis are observational. This means that data can only show a link between dietary habits and illness. Dr. Gunter Koonl, professor of nutrition and food science at the UK’s Reading University, said they also rely on recalling the dietary patterns of people who remember their dietary patterns. He was not involved in the research.

“Utilizing even the most sophisticated techniques does not really solve the problem of a fairly limited dietary information. This is clearly a big problem in nutritional epidemiology in general,” he said.

Why are meat, drinks and fats linked to illness?

There are many reasons why such foods are associated with health problems. Processed and processed meats such as sausages, bacon, salami and burgers can increase inflammation, which plays a major role in a variety of chronic diseases, Song said.

Processed meat often hardens with nitrite and is converted to stomach carcinogenic nitrosamines, Kuhnle said.

The problem with sweet drinks is that it’s an easy way to consume large amounts of sugar, he added. Not only can it cause weight gain, it also affects metabolic pathways that affect the risk of heart disease and diabetes, Kuhnle said.

Trans fatty acids lower good cholesterol levels and increase bad ones. This is known to increase the risk of plaque accumulation in arteries and heart disease, he added.

Other potential connections to consider are that people who are more likely to eat processed meat, sugar-subscribed drinks, and transfers often have a higher risk of illness due to “not only lifestyle factors (smoking, lack of exercise), but also social factors such as education and income, chronic stress, and restrictions on access to health care.” “It’s very difficult to break them down.”

What to avoid and what to add

The data cannot be said that reducing consumption of these foods and drinks reduces the risk of illness, but it suggests that reductions are a good idea, Song said.

A wise approach is to follow a diverse and balanced diet that avoids excess, Kuhnle said.

That means people who drink lots of sweet drinks should cut back, he said. It may also be helpful to avoid excess processed meat and avoid hydrogenated fats whenever possible.

“The goal should be a healthy, sensible dietary pattern that allows for room for fun,” says Kuhnle.

A good diet isn’t just about what to avoid. It’s also important to get good nutrients, Forouhi said. “A wider study shows that overall dietary patterns, including increased consumption of fermented dairy products like fruits and vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts and yogurt, are suitable for health and longevity,” she said.

“My general advice: Don’t panic,” Kuhnle said in an email. “Food is not just (a) The source of nutrients – it plays a central role in culture, joy, home life, and social connections. Reducing it to just a list of health risks will overlook the big picture. ”

9 vehicles that ruled US roads in 2024

0

There is a stream of ads promoting the bestselling cars in this country, but what about the bestsellers in each state?

It turns out that just nine vehicles account for the top 2024 sales in 50 states. We were also really surprised to see which vehicles are the most sold in which state. Continue, guess what your fellow Americans like to drive, then scroll down to see what they really buy.

Honda CR-V

Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Minnesota, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia, Wisconsin

This is a surprise. Did you expect to see a Ford F-150 at the top of this list? The CR-V and F-150 are actually tied to bestsellers in the most states (13 each), but Honda has been hit hard in the more populous states. With all-wheel drive and hybrid powertrain available, it makes perfect sense for the Honda CR-V to be a big seller passing through snowy northeast and rust belts, including Indiana and Ohio, the plants that assemble the CR-V. However, the famous Honda is also a bestseller in the region surrounding DC (the district itself is being done for the Toyota RAV4), and is a retired Carolina.

Ford F-150

Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, Wyoming

Ford promotes the F series as a bestselling track in the US, including all versions of the F up to the Super Duty and Commercial models. If you take the FS apart for each model, the F-150 will find the bestseller in 13 states, the same as the Honda CR-V. The F-150’s advantage cut right through the heart of the country, including wide open spaces such as Montana and Wyoming, Truck Robin Texas and south depths. It is also a Michigan bestseller, and the F-150 is built at Ford’s famous River Rouge factory.

Toyota RAV4

Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Maine, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont

Despite being a statewide bestselling SUV, the RAV4 claims only the top spot in seven states. Looking at the bestsellers on the map, you can see that the Honda CR-V is adjacent to the best 13 states. The RAV4 has almost complete locks in New England, but also has pockets that are popular in Oregon, Idaho and Florida. Surprisingly, the RAV4 is Kentucky’s second bestseller and is one of several places Toyota is building it.

Tesla model y

Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, New Jersey, Utah, Washington

I expect Tesla’s innovative (if controversial) SUV to be a bestseller in early California adapters, high-tech heavy Washington and green-oriented Colorado, but seeing the wide stripes sweep through the west was a bit shocked. Again, with a range of up to 327 miles and an established supercharger network, the Model Y makes it the ideal electric SUV for states with high speed limits and large spaces, such as Arizona, Nevada and Utah.

Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Alaska, Iowa, Kentucky, West Virginia

What happened to the Chevrolet and the Ford Pickup Battle? The F-150 is a bestseller in 13 states, but the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 can only be charged four, including Rough and Tumble Alaska. However, it bothers that one of these four states is Kentucky, with Ford assembled the Heavy Doty F-250 and F-350 Super Duty Picks (and where Toyota builds the Cam and Love 4). Again, one of the three plants that will build the Silverado 1500 is in Indiana, and the truck is the third bestseller.

Nissan Rogue

Tennessee

We love the Nissan Rogue – it ranks number one among compact SUVs in our ultimate car rankings – but judging by its sales, it has been caused by the sale of the Honda CR-V, Tesla Model Y and Toyota RAV4, which is underrated by many of the countries. Well, not Tennessee, Rogue is helping out his competitors. It’s not surprising, as Tennessee is not only the location of Nissan’s US headquarters, but also the place where fraud is built. It’s good to see Tennessee standing on its own. How about Kentucky and Indiana?

Toyota Camry

Alabama

It was when the Toyota Camry was a bestselling vehicle in the US. Today, Americans prefer trucks and SUVs, but the medium-sized Camry sedan remains a bestseller car In the state, and only one bestselling vehicle. I thought Alabama would become a truck country, but I didn’t. It’s one state where Camry sales have beaten all other vehicles. we mountain We highly value the Camry as the number one pick among midsize sedans, and expect it to continue to work in Yellow Hammer State, using a fully updated model at the Toyota Showroom in 2025.

GMC Sierra 1500

Arkansa

Well, we, excuuuuuuse in Arkansas! The Ford F-150 could be enough for 13 states and four more states for Chevrolet Silverado, but Arkansan (ER, sorry, Arkansaweirs) looks particularly like going to the luxurious setting of the GMC Sierra 1500. We can’t say we blame them. Although we’ve struggled to justify the cost premium of the Sierra 1500 on the Chevrolet Brothers, we can’t say that GMC is not a nice truck. Arkansas is a serious truck country, by the way. The second and three bestselling cars are the Ford F-150 and Chevrolet Silverado 1500, respectively.

Toyota Tacoma

Hawaii

It was a fun time guessing what a bestselling car in Hawaii is. There are so many beautiful places to explore, so I thought it could be a Jeep Wrangler. But considering that 9-10 million tourists visit Hawaii each year, it’s more than six times the population of the state – it could be the Ford Mustang Convertible, or at least the Mitsubishi Mirage (or even the Wrangler). No: Hawaiians are practical, and the bestselling vehicle is the Toyota Tacoma, the king of medium-sized truck sales. Well, that makes sense. Tacoma is useful and practical, everything except that everything is inundated. I’m sure the state of Aloha will welcome a new version of Tacoma.
