The owner of a pet lion has been arrested for attacking a woman and two children from Lahore, Pakistan.

The 5- and 7-year-old women and her two young children were taken to hospital after being attacked in an alleyway when a lion escaped from a farmhouse near the town of Johann on Thursday.

Security camera footage released by police showed a lion jumping up on a concrete wall, attacking the woman from behind and slamming it onto the ground. Before the wild cat descends further down the path where the children were attacked, a man is seen having a lion escaped with an object in hand, and a woman has escaped from the property where he chased the lion.

They had face and arm injuries, but are now in stable condition, according to the Associated Press news agency.

Lahore police said in a video posted on social media that the lion escaped from the open cage of the farmhouse and was recaptured by its owner.

Muhammad Faisal Kamran, assistant inspector of the Lahore Police Operation, said three people had been arrested on Friday morning. “We captured the lion and transferred it to the wildlife authorities,” Camran said.

Lahore police shared images of three men in police cells and put a video of the lion in a cage.

Local media reported that the owner does not have a license to maintain the lion and will be charged under the Wildlife Act. This means you could face a maximum sentence of seven years or a fine worth $17,500. CNN is seeking confirmation from Punjab’s Wildlife and Parks Department.

Owning a wild cat as a pet is considered a Pakistani status symbol and is not uncommon, but requires a license and large cats must be kept outside of the city’s sphere.

“This unfortunate incident highlights the maintenance of wildlife in such places without a license or permit, which puts the lives of many people at risk.

The Punjab government announced on Sunday that it is taking on statewide crackdown on people who keep lions unlicensed. To date, 13 lions have been captured and five individuals have been arrested for violating wildlife regulations.

The rummaging Lewotbi rakiraki in Indonesia erupted on Monday, sending 18-kilometer (11 miles) columns of volcanic material into the sky, depositing ashes into the village.

The volcano has been at the highest alert level since last month, and no casualties were reported immediately.

The Indonesian Geological Agency recorded an avalanche of burnt gas clouds mixed with rocks and lava moving up to five kilometers (3 miles) along the volcanic slopes during the eruption. Observations from the drone show that the lava fills the crater, indicating the deep movement of the magma that has been caused by the volcanic earthquake.

Geological Director Muhammad Wayfid said the hot cloud columns rising into the sky were the highest of the volcano since the major eruption in November 2024 and the major eruption in November 2024. It exploded in March as well.

“An eruption of that size is certainly likely to be dangerous, including its impact on aviation,” Wafid said he was attending a seminar with the Associated Press in Switzerland. “We will reevaluate it to expand the risk zones where villagers and tourist activities must be exempt.”

The Volcanic Watch Agency has increased the alert status of Lewotvirakiraki Mountain to the highest level after the eruption on June 18th, and has more than doubled the exclusion zone to a 7-kilometer (4.3 miles) radius as eruptions become more frequent.

After the eruption early last year, around 6,500 people were evacuated and the island’s Frans Seda airport was closed. The airport has remained closed since then.

The 1,584-meter (5,197 feet) mountain is a twin volcano located in the Florestimur district of Lewotbiperempuan.

Monday’s eruption was one of Indonesia’s largest volcanic eruptions since 2010 when Mount Merapi, which erupted on the populous island of Java in 2010. The eruption killed 353 people and forced over 350,000 people to evacuate the affected areas.

Indonesia is an archipelago of over 280 million people who are frequently seismic. There are 120 active volcanoes and sit along the Ring of Fire, a series of horseshoe-shaped seismic fault lines surrounding the Pacific Basin.

Australian woman Erin Patterson has been accused of killing three relatives in a meal of death cap mushrooms grilled at Wellington’s beef lunch, and is found guilty of three murders and attempted murder of only survivors.

12 ju umpires reached the verdict after about six day After deliberations followed a 10-week trial in Morwell, a small town about an hour’s drive from the dining room on the outskirts of Leongasa, Victoria, where fatal lunch was served in July 2023.

Dozens of media crews competed in court when dozens of media crews announced that ju-searchers had reached a verdict in a lawsuit that produced four podcasts dedicated to captivating audiences around the world and unpacking daily evidence.

During weeks of testimony, Patterson was accused of intentionally contaminating lunch with Deathcap Mushrooms, a highly toxic fungus he chose after seeing the location posted on a public website.

A few days later, her former stepparents, Don and Gale Patterson, died along with Gale’s sister Heather Wilkinson. Their local pastor, Heather’s husband Ian, survived after a few weeks in the hospital.

Her defense attorneys alleged that it was a “terrifying accident” that occurred when Patterson tried to improve the taste of her meal, and repeatedly lied to police out of panic when she realized she might have added forged mushrooms to the mix.

Patterson sat in court and listened when the prosecutor called out a witness, whose testimony told the persuasive story of a triple murder.

Australian law does not allow any ju judges to be publicly identified and does not disclose the Ju judge’s office’s deliberations even after the trial is over.

We never know which evidence influenced each ju umpire’s decision, but all 12 people had to agree to the verdict.

The agreed fact was that Patterson asked five people to have lunch on July 29, 2023.

Within hours of the meal, four lunch guests – Simon’s parents Don and Gale, as well as his aunts and uncles Heather and Ian Wilkinson, became ill with vomiting and diarrhea. They went to the hospital where the doctors tried to save them, so they were placed in a guided coma s.

Gail and Heather died of a Multiorgan failure on August 4th, and Don passed away on August 5th after failing to respond to a liver transplant. Ian Wilkinson survived and was eventually discharged from the hospital in late September.

Deathcap mushrooms contain amanita toxin that prevents protein production in liver cells, which can lead to cell death and the possibility of liver failure from about 2 days after ingestion.

The deadly mushroom, native to Europe, is grown in several Australian states, and by lunchtime, I was quickly seen by car from Patterson’s house in the countryside of Victoria.

During the trial, prosecutors argued that after seeing where Patterson was featured on the Civic Science Unstable Website, he had the opportunity to choose a deadly mushroom.

The conviction suggests that the ju apprentice accepted the prosecution’s argument that they likely travelled to two sites in April and May 2023, and deliberately chose the mushrooms used in the meal.

Prosecutor Nanette Rogers SC argued that “four calculated deceptions” were at the heart of the case. “The first conception was the claim of a manufactured cancer that she used as a pretense of lunch invitation,” she said.

“The second deception was a fatal lethal dose for the accused secreted in his hometown of Wellington beef. The third deception was her attempt to make her appear to be suffering from death cap poisoning and the fourth deception as well.

Patterson admitted that on April 28th (the same day as the phone signal) she placed her near the death cap mushroom.

It had fingerprints and contained death cap mushroom remnants.

Prosecutors alleged that in the days after Patterson served lunch, he tried to cover the truck by disposing of the dehydrator and factory, resetting her device and removing evidence.

Patterson’s defense attorney Colin Mandy SC accused the prosecutor of being selective with evidence, and accused him of pushing forward “four ridiculous, complicated propositions.”

The first was for Patterson to do this “without motivation,” Mandy said.

He said there are several reasons why Patterson doesn’t want to kill guests. He said she had no money issues, lived in a large house and had almost full-time custody of two young children very close to her grandparents.

The prosecution did not need to prove his motive.

Rogers accused Patterson of having two faces. One showed the world that suggested she had a good relationship with Patterson, and the hidden faces that only showed her Facebook friends that suggested she had “no relation to them.”

In a Facebook message sent in December 2022, Patterson expressed his anger and frustration reluctant to be involved in the fall of Don and Gale’s son’s marriage.

“I’m tired of this shit. I have nothing to do with them,” she wrote. “His parents wanted him to do the right thing, but their concerns that they didn’t want to feel uncomfortable or involved in their son’s personal issues have negated it.”

And another message read, “This family that I swear to f*** God.”

During the eight days of testimony, including cross-examination, Patterson consistently complained of her innocence, claiming that she had added misfortunes to her diet.

In his instructions to the ju judge, Judge Christopher Beale said they should not give bias against her after receiving approval that Patterson had lied and disposed of the evidence.

“This is a court, not a moral court,” he said.

“The question is not whether she is in some sense responsible for the tragic consequences of the lunch, but whether the prosecution has proven beyond reasonable doubt that she is criminally liable for those consequences,” he said.

The ju umpire discovers that Patterson was going to kill all four lunch guests and that she repeatedly stood and lied to claim that she had not.

Patterson will be declared at a later date.

Israel was the first to attack Yemeni Hooti targets since the Israeli-Iran ceasefire, attacking the port and power station around late-night local time on Sunday night.

The strike occurred after at least three Houthi ballistic missiles were launched in Israel, according to the Israeli Defense Force (IDF), which includes one missile intercepted on Saturday.

Israel raided the ports of Hodeida, Las Isa, Salif and Las Canadib Power Plant along the Red Sea. The IDF also attacked the Galaxy Leader, a cargo ship seized by Houthis in November 2023.

“The Houthi military has installed radar systems on its ships and uses them to track ships in the International Maritime Arena to promote further terrorist activity,” the IDF said in a statement following the strike.

Shortly before the wave of strikes, IDF Arabic spokesman Avichay Adraee issued an evacuation warning to the port and power plants.

Israeli Defense Minister Katz said the strike was part of the newly named operation, the Black Flag. In a statement on social media, Katz said “Houthis will continue to pay a significant price for their actions,” and promised that more attacks will continue if Houthis maintains launch drones and ballistic missiles in Israel.

The Houthi forces confirmed the strike, but said “Yemeni air defenses “effectively faced Israeli attacks” using a massive barrage of locally manufactured locally inter-air missiles.”

There are no immediate reports of victims from the strike.

According to Houthi Run Al-Masirah TV, Mohammed Al Farah, a member of the Politburo of Houthi, said it was “a civilian attempt to harm civilians and has nothing to do with military activity.”

The attack comes as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu travels to Washington to meet President Donald Trump.

Since the Israeli war with Hamas in Gaza began in October 2023, the country has been fired from missiles and rockets from Hezbollah, Lebanon, and Houtis, Yemen, who claim to attack Israel in solidarity with the Palestinians.

Iran-supported Houtis has repeatedly targeted commercial and military vessels in the Red Sea.

In March, the US launched a massive strike in Yemen to reduce the group’s military capabilities.

Suriname’s Congress supported Jennifer Simons as the South American country’s first female president on Sunday, setting doctors and former Congress president on the course, steering the nation at the cusp of the predicted oil boom.

Suriname lawmakers supported Simons as president six weeks after the ruling party and its top opposition were almost tied to legislative seats competition, leading to a coalition contract to set up Simmons as president.

Simons’ opposition National Democrats won 18 seats, while current President Chang Sand-hee’s progressive reform party won 17 seats in the May 25th parliamentary election. The small party won the remaining 16 seats.

The President of Suriname will be elected indirectly. After the general election, members of the Parliament must vote for the president, and candidates must secure a two-thirds majority to win the office.

“I will serve this office and use all my knowledge, strength and insight to make wealth available to all of us,” Simons, 71, said in a short speech after lawmakers approved her appointment with applause.

Simons vowed to pay special attention to young people and those who still don’t have the best opportunities.

“I am very aware of the responsibility that is on our shoulders right now, which is a responsibility that has been aggravated for me by the fact that I am the first woman to hold this office,” she added. “I don’t need a lot of words. My gratitude and we’ll get to work.”

President Chang Sand-hee, a 66-year-old former police chief who was standing for re-election, faced criticism over his lack of protection for the poorer and more vulnerable sector of society.

Santohi congratulated her on the election and said she wanted lawmakers to take responsibility for their flaws and remember his commitment. He said he will continue to serve the country even after his transition as a member of the Congress.

Suriname, a former Dutch colony independence since 1975, is expected to see a surge in revenue from the country’s first major offshore energy development, an oil and gas project led by Ttef.pa.

The Gran Morgu project is scheduled to begin production in 2028. The discovered reserves could allow Suriname to compete with neighboring Guyana, which grew 43.6% last year as a prominent producer.

However, the campaign had little debate about what the next government, which would hold power until 2030, should do with revenue.

Simons’ election was agreed to a six-party contract two days after the Congressional Contest, but it was not officially held until Sunday’s vote. Her inauguration is scheduled for July 16th.

Suriname’s Parliament supported Simons for a praised post as Vice President of Gregory Lasland, leader of the Suriname Nationalist Party (NPS).

Simons served as a Congress speaker for 10 years until 2020. She garnered the votes behind Santoki, earning over 41,700 votes. She is the head of the NDP and was founded by former President Desi Bouterse. He ruled Suriname’s politics for decades before he died last year as a fugitive.

Bouterse, founder of the NDP, resigned in 2020, the year after being convicted of a 1982 government critic murder case.

When the conviction was upheld in 2023, Booters went into hiding and died at the age of 79 in an unknown location on Christmas Eve.
