South Korea says it flies through the homes of detained Georgia plant workers

More than 300 Korean workers have been detained by US immigrants and customs enforcement agencies at the Hyundai LG Battery Factory in Georgia.

WASHINGTON — Hundreds of Korean workers detained during a massive migrant raid at a Hyundai battery factory in Georgia will soon return, officials from President Lee Jae Myung said.

US immigration agents detained around 475 people, including more than 300 Koreans, on September 4, at an underbuilt battery facility 30 miles northwest of Savannah. Federal officials said they violated immigration laws, including those who illegally crossed US borders with tourist visas that would not allow workers to work.

South Korean presidential director Kang Hoon Sik said in a statement aired on September 7 that negotiations with the US were concluded and workers will return home after completing additional management procedures. Workers will fly to South Korea on chartered planes, Hunsik said.

The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The attack on the HL-GA Battery Company Factory was the largest single-site workplace enforcement project in the Department of Homeland Security’s Faculty of History, officials said. A video released by the US immigration and customs enforcement agency showed bondage workers being escorted by bus.

Federal officials said at a press conference on September 5 that the business focuses primarily on criminal violations of employment law, rather than immigration lawsuits.

A few days after the attack, the South Korean president vowed to bring workers home, warning that the rights of the nation’s citizens should not be “unfairly violated.”

Georgia’s Congressional Democrats and Congressional Asia-Pacific American Caucus said in a September 6 statement that they are “deeply wary.”

“Instead of targeting violent criminals, the Trump administration is chasing immigrants in workplaces and communities of color to meet massive deportation quotas,” a group of 20 lawmakers wrote.

In an appearance on CNN’s “The State of the Union” on September 7, White House Border Border Area Tom Homan said the Trump administration plans to launch more raids like the Georgia factory.

South Korean officials said they would try to improve the visa system for workers traveling to the US to prevent future incidents.

This is a developing news article.

Ford Racing combines motorsports and road cars into one global division

0

play

  • Ford Racing is a profitable driving unit that spans racing programs, road cars, experiences and products.
  • This strategic shift creates a direct pipeline from track to street.

Ford Motor Co.’s Performance Division brings together roads and racing programs as one division called Ford Race to better coordinate what happens with the car manufacturers from the truck to deliver what happens at RaceTrack.

Founded on September 4th, the new Ford Racing organization will include not only roads and race cars, but also customer experiences, merchandising and brand activities around the world.

This is a business transformation that Ford calls it, as Ford creates one single profit driving department that shares technical learning from Motorsports vehicle development in Ford’s regular lineup. This means that the technology used in trucks will drip down one day on a Raptor or Mustang sitting in the driveway.

“We’re building this as a major business within Ford Motor Co.,” Will Ford, general manager of Ford Racing Global, told Detroit Free Press, part of the USA Today Network. “This is a commitment to finding product opportunities that arise from the efforts that have emerged from the efforts that have emerged from the efforts that have emerged from the efforts that have never been before. It is a highly profitable unit and we expect to continue to grow.”

Hello Effect

Ford has a long history of relying on racing pedigrees to sell production cars.

In fact, Ford Performance is about to enter its 125th year since Henry Ford won his first and only race at the legendary sweepstakes in 1901, Ford said. The victory was based on technological innovation, and Ford gave financial support to launch Ford Motor Co.

As Ford Motor prepares to return to Formula One, other big series and races from Dakar to Bathurst, Le Mans and Daytona, Ford said it was right to rebrand the team into Ford Race.

By integrating racing efforts and performance production vehicles, Ford “have gained all ounces of technology transfer, R&D and learning from the world’s largest torture test in a motorsport environment and can see that it continues to improve its performance road cars.

That means the engineering that drives the Dakar-earned Ford Raptor T1+ will flow directly into the dealer’s production Raptor, Ford said. Or, Mustang GTD’s engineering has a race pedigree that customers can buy and experience.

“There’s another important factor in what we’re doing here: to offer brand halo on a blue oval,” Ford said. “We will reveal aspects of the brand identity that come with that name change over the next few months. It is intended to provide Hello to all of Ford Motor Co..”

The halo effect in marketing means that one brand, in this case, Ford’s performance race cars, will shed a positive light on other brands that are Ford’s customer lineup, or create a halo.

New Organization Chart

As part of the move, Ford said the merged Ford Racing teams will all work together under one roof in Loucheville, Dearborn, Michigan, which is Ford Racing’s global headquarters.

They have also made several “critical organizational changes” to ensure that people who worked on motorsports are more closely integrated with those who worked on Ford’s production vehicle program to share technical learning, Ford said.

Ford added that Mark Rushbrook remains the global director of Ford Racing, “He was leading our motorsports program, so now we include all performance production vehicles.” However, the new Ford Racing Unit now falls under Kumargarhhotra, Ford’s Chief Operating Officer.

“This allows us to be very intricately woven into Ford’s industrial system in the right way, which is truly important in many ways to this future, as Ford Race has a unique need for the way this team operates,” Ford said. “The engineering team focused on motorsports and performance spaces has unique talent, which must be properly integrated into Ford industrial machinery and reported to Kumar.

Maintain off-road leads

Ford said the unit will add profits to Ford Motor’s revenue by building Motorsports, the “most thrilling part” of the company, into the “most thrilling part.”

“Looking at our lineup of performance vehicles, we have a really incredible lineup of some amazing Mustang products, Raptor products. They were very successful and very profitable products for us. “Our core mission here is to strengthen our race-to-road strategy.”

That means kicking out the best performance products, whether it’s a vehicle that focuses on sports cars and trucks, or off-road or dirt-focused like Ford’s Raptor Trim.

“With this initiative, there are some very exciting product plans that I look forward to sharing with you at a later date,” Ford said. “But this is about building a business and brand.”

For example, Ford has been selling the Raptor version for 15 years, and its roots date directly to the Baja 1000, Ford said.

“Every time we compete for raptors in the Baja 1000, everything we learn from all the vehicles that are circling is what we see in the next version of the Raptor to make that vehicle better and take the Raptor at least one step ahead of the potential competition,” Ford said.

He said Ford must maintain a lead with the Raptor in off-road space, as there are many other automakers looking to take part in off-road performance vehicles.

“Doubling this commitment to racing, incorporating those learnings and bringing them to our road products will expand the Raptors’ position not only in their fan base but also in the market space,” Ford said.

Better Ford Cars

In short, Ford said the new division will provide better products and more of them to the public for car buying, and he said racing technology may even apply to family cars.

“The team will focus on winning on the track and creating performances across the lineup,” he said, using all the technology developed in motorsports, “we’re being fooled by the whole family of Ford products.”

“It’s not a name change with a new visual identity,” Ford said. “We’re beginning to see Ford Races appearing in many great customer experiences. We’re going to make our brand come true through great products and products that our fans and customers can buy.”

Massie and Khanna say they’re voting for the release of the Epstein file

0

The potential release of the file became a political lightning rod after the Justice Department announced in July that it had not revealed a list of Epstein’s clients and had not planned further disclosures.

play

WASHINGTON – Thomas Massie of R-Kentucky and Ro Khanna of D-California have expressed optimism about their ability to force the release of inconsistencies in Justice’s Department of Files with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

“We have a vote,” Kanna told ABC News on September 7th.

“I think we’re going to get an overwhelming vote for this,” Massy told Stephanopoulos in the same program.

Republican and Democrat organizers behind the petition to force a House vote on the release of the file said it must be concerns that Sen. John Toon, R-South Dakota, may try to block Senate legislation or that the Justice Department may try to scrub information about Republicans and other alliances before the documents are released.

“I think (Thune) will be under more pressure than he notices,” Massy told Stefanopuuros. “He should do the right thing.”

Kanna said a career government employee and at least one lawyer were looking at Epstein’s accuser. This would make it difficult for the Justice Department to scrub documents to protect President Donald Trump’s friends and allies who resisted the call for a full release of the file. Trump and Epstein were friends for over a decade, from the 1990s to the early 2000s.

The potential release of the file became political lightning after the Justice Department announced in a July memo that it was unable to reveal a list of clients who may have joined in a ring that trafficked sex with Epstein and did not plan for further disclosure.

The announcement follows years of Trump Alliance proposals that Democrats engage in cover-up of Epstein’s fellows who may have taken part in his crimes, and that Trump as president would bring greater transparency to the incident.

Attorney General Pam Bondy reportedly told Trump in the spring that he was named on the file. Epstein has been associated with a wide variety of rich and powerful people over the years, including not only Trump but President Bill Clinton. In the sense that the file is named or associated with Epstein, it does not mean anyone engaged in fraud.

Pope canoe the first millennial Catholic saint

0

Carlo Actis, a canoe of Pope Leo XIV, who died in 2006 at the age of 15, and Pier Giorgio Frasati, who died in 1925 at the age of 24.

Pope Leo declared 15-year-old Carlo Akotis as a saint on Sunday, September 7th. This was the first ceremony of his tenure, canoeing the first Catholic saint of the millennials, elevating him to the same level as Mother Teresa and Francis of Assisi.

Carlo, a British-born Italian who died of leukemia at the age of 15 in 2006, was due to normalize on April 27th during the youth Jubilee. The ceremony was postponed on April 21st after Pope Francis’ death.

Carlo, sometimes called the “God Influencer,” learned several computer coding languages before his death and built a website to spread his faith.

He was normalized alongside Pier Giorgio Frasati, a young Italian known for helping people in need. Frassati lived between 1901 and 1925 and died at the age of 24 of polio.

The Pope called the two new saints “to turn them up and become masterpieces, rather than wasting our lives.”

What are the steps to canoeing a saint?

The saint shows that the church believes that the person is in heaven with God.

The cause of a saint must be investigated by the Vatican department to ensure that the person lived a sacred life. It usually involves the examination of two miracles that arise from intercession with a future saint with God in heaven.

What was the miracle caused by the blessed Carlo Akotis?

In 2020, the church involved a four-year-old Brazilian boy who recognized his first miracle and decided to heal from a serious pancreatic abnormality. After the boy’s mother prayed to Carlo in 2013, the son experienced a sudden, complete recovery.

In May 2024, the second miracle was announced. This time a Costa Rican woman was involved. In 2022, she prayed at Carlo’s grave in Assisi, Italy after her daughter suffered severe head injuries in a bicycle accident. The doctor had informed the mother that her daughter was unlikely to survive.

On a pilgrimage to Carlo’s tomb, his mother left a note. On the same day, her daughter began to breathe spontaneously. The next day, she began to move and regained some of her speech. Ten days later, a cat scan showed that the brain bleeding had disappeared.

Who was the blessed Carlo Acotis?

Born in 1991, Carlo used his technical skills to evangelize and stood out for his delightful faith and compassion for others. He developed a website for his parish and the wider Catholic Church.

Carlo’s beatificion took place in October 2020, and Pope Francis declared that his teens had achieved the blessing of heaven, and he was given the title “blessed.”

His mother, Antonia Salzano, told Reuters in April that the son’s appeal was centered around the same life as others who were teenagers in the 2000s.

“Carlo was a normal kid like (the others),” she said. “He used to play, have friends, go to school, but his extraordinary quality was the fact that he opened the door to Jesus and placed Jesus the first in his life.”

How many canoeing has been declared in recent years?

Pope Leo XIV will preside on September 7th to preside on the first normalized mass and declare two young Italian saints.

According to Vatican News, seven more blessings will be normalized on October 19th on Mission Sunday around the world.

How many Popes have been declared saints?

When is the canoeing ceremony?

Carlo’s canoeing is set for September 7th at 10am local time in St. Peter Square, Rome. According to the Vatican, access to St. Peter Square opens at 8am and no tickets or reservations are required for the public.

Photos back to school can put your child’s identity at risk

0

play

  • Sharing too many details about your child on social media can cause trouble.
  • It’s time for kids to talk about whether they should be careful of fake texts too.

Every year I loved seeing the first day of school photos with Nie’s son and daughter standing on pouches, each holding a whiteboard or blackboard with both hands. They become taller and stupid in the moment.

This year, the photos marked the first day of Penny’s eighth graders and the first day of Carson’s 11th graders, who lives near the southeast coastline. Both wear huge OK-OK-IS-You-Mom smiles.

Still, now I’ve heard more warnings for parents about ID theft and taking popular, returning to school key cakes.

The Better Business Bureau tells parents to avoid with those chalkboards so that personal details about their children, such as their name, age, school, teacher, grade, etc., don’t scrawl too many personal details about them.

problem? Scammers can dig into more information about social media and use many of these details to try and commit identity theft or try to hack into one of their accounts.

“If you use your child’s personal information with a password, this also makes you vulnerable to security breaches. Needless to say, these details are also used as security questions for banks and credit card accounts.”

Another tip: Do not use family names or dog names for your password.

When it comes to taking photos, it suggests that the BBB is aiming for a more general background for back-to-school photography. You may stand in front of a large tree, not where you can see your home’s address.

Here are some other tips from the BBB:

  • Make sure school signs, bus stops or other landmarks do not appear in photos that may reveal the location of your child.
  • Recheck your privacy settings.
  • Be aware who can see your post. Delete personal information from accounts that others can see, such as phone numbers and addresses.
  • Do not accept friend requests from strangers. Also, think carefully before accepting friend requests from people you already have. It could be a scammer trying to access your information or your friends list.
  • Do not use the password to name your child or personally identifiable information, or the same password for multiple accounts.

Nakia Mills, vice president of digital marketing and brand strategy for Michigan’s Better Business Department, told the Detroit Free Press (part of the USA Today network) that many people often overshare social media personal information without considering potential outcomes.

“While sharing photos of children online isn’t necessarily harmful, it’s important to note that we don’t share sensitive information or details that could put your child’s safety at risk,” Mills said.

If you want your child to hold a sign, she should not include the child’s name, school name, age, or teacher’s name.

Sadly, you can unconsciously hand over the information to a stranger who can help a bad actor find your child, find your password, or try to steal identity theft.

Or, in some cases, warning experts, these details could even be used to try and steal thousands of dollars from seniors by mistakenly claiming that their grandchild needs emergency assistance.

“Even if your account is set to only show information to your connections and friends, people often take screenshots and save images on their devices, which can lead to the wrong hand in the post,” warned Mills.

Thoughtful about how to use the location sharing feature

We are hearing alerts on Instagram about the newly implemented location sharing feature.

In August, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel joined a bipartisan coalition of 37 lawyer generals, urging Instagram to immediately change this new feature, the Instagram map, based on public safety and data privacy concerns, especially for children and domestic violence survivors.

“Meta has a responsibility to protect users, especially children, from online predators,” Nessel said in a statement. She said the feature could undermine safety and “can have devastating consequences.”

The letter not only guarantees on Instagram that minors cannot enable the location sharing feature, but also provides “simple and accessible controls to disable location sharing at any time” to adults who choose the feature.

The Instagram parent meta has already maintained that there is a lot of protection in place.

“The design of Instagram Map already addresses the issue of attorney general promoting. By default, it’s off. Everyone gets a notification explaining what the feature entails and can turn it off whenever they want,” according to a statement sent to the Detroit Free Press.

With parental oversight capabilities, the company says that if teens start sharing locations via map tools, and parents can block access to location sharing at any time, the parents will receive notifications.

Meta also points out that Instagram teenage accounts have built-in protections that restrict teenagers and those who can contact the content they see. Teens will be automatically placed in teen accounts, and the company says online that “teens under the age of 16 need parental permission to change any of these settings to be non-strict.”

Instagram will also send notifications to parents on Instagram, along with information on how they can have conversations with children ages 13 to 17, about the importance of providing the correct age online. In late April, Instagram began testing AI technology in the US, designed to “proactively find accounts belonging to teens,” whether they list adult birthdays, or teen birthdays and place them in teen account settings.

Ok, I’m old school and I can’t imagine why I’m being broadcast at a certain moment.

Again, I don’t imagine using social media to trigger a spontaneous hug with long lost friends as I wander around a large box store. Some consumers who attend concerts, baseball games, or hit trending hot spots may see things differently.

However, parents need to remain vigilant when it comes to what they post on social media and how they monitor what their children are doing. Thankfully, regulators have also made a statement.

Teach young students about scammers using fake texts

And there are other ways to connect with scammers you probably don’t consider. Scammers are also texting our kids.

Parents are encouraged to talk to their children about fake texts that may be impersonating someone from a school, bank, or famous retailer or business.

The Federal Trade Commission issued a warning in early 2025 to encourage parents to tell their children about the risks associated with responding to fake texts.

Scammers want the same things from younger consumers, just like adults. They are trying to get Social Security numbers, bank account information, and more.

The advice is the same. Do not click on the link with unexpected text messages. Don’t forget that many people aren’t the ones who say they’re online.

A FTC note that clicks on a link can lead to a website that attempts to steal data. Sharing your personal and financial information can lead to greater issues, such as identity theft, loss of money, and ensuring fraudsters have access to your account.

Another tip: Beware of fake emails and texts about failed login attempts.

Scammers know that many of us respond to emails and texts that contain text that appears to be the wrong number. However, the best advice to ignore these texts remains.

Experts say they are making sure their phone number is live when replying to the scammer, even if they tell someone that has the wrong number.

GOP Senators swell JD Vance over drug boat comments

The vice president and a Republican senator clashed on a US military strike that killed 11 people on suspicion of a Caribbean drug ship.

play

WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump’s claim to kill drug smugglers has sparked a social media dispute between Vice President J.D. Vance and GOP Sen. Rand Paul.

The subject of the conflict was the navy that sunk a Venezuelan ship into the Caribbean on September 2nd. The military said it carried 11 members of the crime gangster Tren de Aragua smuggling drug. Trump said on social media that he ordered a strike to prevent drugs from reaching the US

“Killing the members of the cartel that poison our fellow citizens is the highest and best use of our military,” Vance wrote on social media on September 6th.

But when Trump administration’s online critic Brian Krassenstein responded by calling the murder of civilians without “war crimes” and without “war crimes,” the vice president went low.

“I don’t give you an S—what you call it,” Vance replied.

“It’s mean,” says Rand Paul.

Paul, a Republican from Kentucky, took up the Gauntlet. He questioned how Vance could justify killing people accused of crimes without trial.

“He wondered what would happen if the accused were executed immediately without trial or representative?” Paul asked. “What a sleazy and thoughtless feeling to praise someone for killing without trial.”

The Pentagon has not released any information publicly justifying the destruction of the boat. The Navy and Coast Guard have traditionally intercepted suspected drug smuggling at the sea.

However, the Pentagon warned on September 4 that the country should not thwart anti-drug and counter-terrorism operations after two Venezuelan military aircraft flew near naval vessels.

Trump said on social media that strikes should serve as a warning to other potential smugglers.

“Please make this a useful notification to anyone considering bringing drugs into the United States,” Trump said. “Be careful!”

Elvis Presley’s documentary “Epic” has the king tell his own story

0

Toronto – Buzz Ruhrmann made a legendary version of Elvis Presley with “Elvis.” And in his latest film, the director has the King of Rock tell his own story.

Rather than a documentary, not a concert, “Poetry of Tone” and “Epic: Elvis Presley’s Concert” present unprecedented electric rehearsals and concert footage from Presley’s Las Vegas residency at the International Hotel from 1969 to 1969. Minds from the Presley catalogue, etc.

When he was ready to make the 2022 film “Elvis,” starring Austin Butler, Luman said he had heard of the “mythical footage” he wanted to study. The filmmaker had the resources to go to the “Kansas Salt Mine” where Warner Bros. saved the negatives and found 59 hours of footage.

According to Jonathan Redmond, a longtime editor at Luhrmann, all the music performances and rehearsal tracks were on hand. They had to sync it with the footage they found. It ended up being a two-year job.

One thing that really impressed Ruhrman about Presley along the way was “it doesn’t matter what’s going on, it doesn’t matter what he’s in, he’s never going to be in tone,” the film director said. “And he’s always mental whenever he sings.”

“The Epic” gave Presley a small history leading up to the Vegas year, leading to a residency as he didn’t love the films he was making, from being drafted by the Army to becoming a Hollywood star. “He said, ‘I need to show the audience what I can do. I need to go back to being Elvis.’ And that’s what drove him,” Ruhrman said.

What’s impressive about both the rehearsal and concert footage shows how Elvis was still a performer, hip thrust, kung fu movements and more. He does a bit of tap dancing when Sammy Davis Jr. is in the crowd. Presley jokes with the audience when they’re not trying to hold him (he also kisses many fans). However, his sense of humor is the most common sense of humor in “magnificent”. Rehears “something, “Presley Roon,” “something in the way she moves,” and he tells the band “these are thought-provoking lyrics, guys.”

Something else Luhrmann found in their drilling: Presley spoke to his band for 45 minutes, and he said, “About his life, he was very defenseless.” The film includes the film, including Presley, who states, “There’s a lot to be said, but I want an opportunity to tell my side of the story.”

That led Ruhrman to “have him sing Elvis and tell the story myself. That was a real choice. It was kind of a dream.”

Trial trial begins to be attempted to assassinate Trump. Golf matches first?

0

The trial of the man accused of carrying out a second attempted assassination against President Donald Trump begins on September 8th.

On September 15th, 2024, Trump was playing golf on a course in West Palm Beach, Florida. Secret Service officials have found a rifle plunging through the fenced surroundings of the course. The agent fired the suspect and was identified as Ryan Wesley Rouse and chased after him. The incident comes just months after the bullet grazes Trump’s ears in another attempt on his life at a gathering in Pennsylvania.

Routh, 59, has already proven himself an unusual accused in this famous case. He chose to represent himself and recently submitted a move calling for a stripper, putting green and 18-hole showdown with the president.

Minutes begin with the selection of a ju judge in federal court in Fort Pierce, Florida on September 8th. Here’s what you need to know about the case:

Rous submitted a motion calling Trump “Bahio.”

In a typewriter’s allegation filed September 2, Rouse opposed what he characterized as a prosecutor’s bid to introduce new evidence a few weeks before trial, calling the timing “absurd.” Rous suggested accepting last-minute evidence from the prosecutors in exchange for his ability to summon Trump as a witness.

“If you want to accept and trade evidence of that Baboon Donald J. Trump, bring that idiot. That’s a deal,” writes Routh.

If the arrangement was denied, Routh requested access to other individuals on his “recent subpoena list,” suggesting that the “beatdown session” between him and the president would be “more fun and interesting for everyone.”

“Give me a shackle and cuffs and let the old fat guy give him the worst guy. We have to beat crime in America. The carpet is not red, it’s not harmful to the blood.”

His allegations also included requests for potential housing arrangements through imminent trials. Routh asked if it could be accommodated “in a quiet room in the distance” with access to documents, phone calls, visits, emails, typewriters, female strippers, “putting greens, I can tackle putting (golf jokes).”

“A round of golf with a racist pig, he can execute me, I can get his job,” Rous wrote.

What happened in the September 2024 attempt to assassinate Trump?

On September 15, 2024, authorities said the man thrusts a rifle barrel through a fence at the edge of Trump International Golf Course in West Palm Beach, Florida, with the then presidential candidate playing golf. A Secret Service agent on the course discovered the weapon and fired at the man who escaped.

At the scene of the obvious assassination attempt, authorities found a rifle, a black backpack, a bag containing ceramic tiles, and a GoPro camera.

On September 15, officials with the Martin County Sheriff’s Office stopped Rouse from about 41 miles from the golf course after being accused of an attempted assassination at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach.

Who is Ryan Rouse?

Ryan Rouse, 59, is a suspect who attempted an assassination with Donald Trump during the 2024 presidential election at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida on September 15, 2024.

State voting records show that the general lauscasting vote and local government elections, dating back to many cycles, including 2008 and 2012, were not when Trump first ran in 2016. Records suggest that he is not affiliated with the party.

According to the same record, Rouse was recently voted in the March 2024 primary in Guilford County, North Carolina. He voted for Democrats.

Routh was a passionate supporter of Ukraine in the fight against Russian invasion, based on his social media posts.

In the spring of 2022, Routh suggested in a series of X posts that he traveled to Ukraine to fight on behalf of the haunted country. For one thing, he tweeted on President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s account, saying, “I am an American who comes to fight you in Ukraine. I will fly to Krakow, carry out transports to Kyiv and meet you, and fight until I die… We must come and join the battle with all the civilians of the world.

Why was suspect Ryan Rouse charged with?

Routh faces federal accusations including attempted assassination of a presidential candidate, assaulting a federal officer and multiple firearm violations. Prosecutors said Rous spent weeks killing Trump before planting himself in a rifle near the golf course.

Routh pleaded not guilty to federal charges and remains in custody prior to trial, federal prison records show.

US District Judge Irene Cannon, who will continue to be available as a lawyer appointed attorney in question, has previously approved Routh’s request to represent herself in court.

Who is Carlo Acotis? The first millennial saint will be cananized on Sunday.

A few years after Acutis’ brief battle with leukemia, people explained the miracle after praying to him.

play

Pope Leo XIV will be hosting the canonization of Carlo Akotis, the first millennial saint, on Sunday, September 7th.

Acutis died of leukemia at the age of 15 almost 20 years ago. A few years later, people prayed to him, then explained the miracle, and he gained worldwide popularity.

Early 20th century Italian writer Pia Giorgio Frassati, who died on a Sunday morning in Vatican at the age of 24 of polio, will also be canoed alongside Accuti.

Religion is declining among young people, including American Catholics, resulting in normalization of two young people who died young. Acutis was set to become a saint during teenager Jubilee in April, but the death of Pope Francis, 88, a few days ago, delayed standardization of Acutis by Leo until Sunday.

Acutis’ mother, Antonia Salzano, has spoken about her son to others around the world. Previously barely religious, Sarzano told USA Today in May that she was a witness to his act of faith and devotion.

Born in London on May 3, 1991, Acutis began to speak rosary every day before the age of five and a half. Acutis received his first communion at 7am.

Akotis was dedicated to attending Mass. As a computer enthusiast, he created a website dedicated to the miracles of the Eucharist. In an online database centuries ago, Acutis recorded recorded cases.

He showed faith in everyday life, Zanono said.

Growing up, he gave guidance and support to friends and confronted bullies who chose a classmate with disabilities, according to the Catholic news outlet.

His mother recalled recollections every night about what he did that day and how he acted with his classmates, teachers or parents. She said that much of this is known as he took a long note.

Acutis often used phrases: “We all come from the original, but many of us die as copies.”

A few years after Acutis’ brief battle with leukemia, people explained the miracle after praying to him. Examples include a Brazilian boy who lost his pancreatic deformity in 2013. Almost ten years later, a Costa Rican woman cured a severe cerebral hemorrhage. These events attributed to Acutis established his claims on the road to Canonization.

In 2020, Francis defeated Aktis with the title “Blessed.” Cardinals University voted to turn Accuti into Canonee in 2024.

On Sunday, Leo will preside over the Eucharist and Liturgical rituals for the Eucharist and Frasati. The celebration will take place at Parvis, the Cathedral of St. Peter at 10am local time (4am EST).

Senior activists protesting Trump say “We’re not dead yet”

0

Top Trump aide said senior activists should go home and take a nap. These progressive elders say they will continue to take you to the streets.

EL PASO, Texas — Bonnie Daniels and Dee Anne Croucher didn’t expect to spend their retirement in the fluorescent immigration court facing masked ice agents.

But that’s what they head every day, quietly challenging President Donald Trump’s crackdown. They warn immigrants what awaits them. They are handing out sharps so each can write an emergency contact phone number on their forearms. They hold the immigrants’ hands and walk from shoulder to shoulder to go into the crowd of agents blocking the exit.

Like other seniors at the forefront of resistance against the Trump administration, Daniels and Croucher are old enough to protest the Vietnam War and not trust anyone over 30.

Now, they and many of their peers are spending a golden year standing outside the White House with handmade signs, holding sit-ins, making pickets on rural street corners, protesting Trump’s intensified immigration enforcement.

Research shows that Americans tend to become more conservative as they get older, with 79-year-old Republican Trump boasting his own legion of Septuagen fans.

But seniors who were in control of young people’s politics say they have the time, energy and courage to surge protests and anti-Trump activities across the country.

When Trump’s aides made the headline in August by making a light parody of Washington, D.C. activists as “old white hippies,” the comments infuriated some and fired others.

“We are activists from the Vietnamese era,” said Daniels, a 68-year-old retired social worker and third-generation Mexican-American. “Women’s movements, Chicano movements and the Black movements. I’m proud to be an old hippie. I wear it as a badge of honor.”

Old progressives are political minorities

Twenty-five years ago, age was not a determinant of politics today.

Voters of the late 1990s and 70s and voters in their 20s had exactly the same partisan composition. They were 52% Democrats and 46% Republicans.

That has changed. Now and for the past decade, the majority of voters under the age of 30 have tended to vote for Democrats, while the majority of voters over the age of 60 are lean Republicans. There are many reasons for the shift, but it stands out, said Gary Allan Fein, a sociologist at Northwestern University who studied the dynamics of Golden Year activism.

“As you become financially safe, you have more to lose,” he said, and it drives more people into conservative politics. “It’s difficult to think about change.”

There is another factor: gender.

El Paso Immigration Court activists are mostly senior women, including Daniels and Croucher. Many of the elderly activists who organize protests, attended Zoom meetings and held signs on street corners are also women.

“When you look at all sorts of research, women tend to be more liberal-distorted than men,” Fein said. “That’s a huge political disparity.”

“We’re not dead yet.”

Being in a political party and political minority has not stopped them.

Karen Craig, 83, a retired teacher and child advocate, never referred to herself as a “hippie.” However, she was one of the organized teachers who staged strikes early in her career. Today, she lives in Rensselaer, Indiana (population 5,733), and three-quarters of the voters who sided with Trump in the last election live in the county.

“I was at my age and I was older and had a family and full-time job, so I didn’t have time to protest actively,” she said. “We didn’t have time to take off from the kids, but we do that now.

“And we’re very scared now about the way our country is moving,” she said.

Young activists may consume more energy online and show up in real life when work and school schedules are permitted. But older activists say they are likely to log out and go out on the streets.

Shelley Feist, 61, didn’t expect to retire as young as that, but the arrival of the second Trump administration convinced her to quit her job in the nonprofit sector and create space for full-time activism.

Residents of Washington, D.C. attended marching in the capital, standing outside the White House, spending hours carrying a GOP elephant and a homemade Styrofoam sign with the word “treason.”

“I judge that, yes, I believe I’m more persuasive in real life,” she said.

“We all know the image of the man standing in front of a tank in Tiananmen Square,” she said. “I know people who are happy to do something like that, and they inspire me.”

It was Deputy White House Director Stephen Miller, who appeared at Capital Union Station and trolled a group of elder activists screaming Vice President J.D. Vance in August. Vance was promoting Trump’s efforts to combat violent crime in the city.

Miller named the protesters “old white hippies” in a city that historically had many black residents.

“This is not a city that has been safe for generations of black citizens,” Miller argued. “President Trump is the one who’s fixing it. So we’re going to ignore these stupid white hippies. They all have to go home and take a nap because it’s over 90 years old.”

Some of Craig’s activist friends are in the 90s, she said. And this summer they appeared with her “king” and “passing hands” protests with her in her small Indiana town and others, opposed to what she regarded as an erosion of democratic norms. She did it for her daughter, grandchildren and two great grandchildren, she said.

“I don’t want to think about the next two generations having to deal with a dictatorship,” Craig said. “I don’t think that’s inevitable. I think things can change, so I’m willing to go out and demonstrate.”

“We’re not dead yet,” she added.

“We have to witness that.”

Daniels and Croucher waited on the seventh floor of the federal building as immigrants were submitted by the immigration court.

But Leticia Gutierrez, a gray-haired Catholic nun, asked them to sit down. Croucher distracted the four-year-old by handing a hot wheeled car to the four-year-old, just as his Venezuelan father and mother listened. Croucher kisses a Mexican woman with tears on her forehead as she walks past.

“Behind you there is an ice official,” Gutierrez said. “I’ll take photos that warn your documents, your alien numbers, and your family.”

Daniels and Croucher took car keys from each immigrant.

Gutierrez, a phone number written on his forearm with a black permanent marker, hangs shadow on his Venezuelan family walking down the hall. Daniels and Croucher followed behind.

As they rounded the corner, ice agents called out their Venezuelan mother’s name. She shed tears.

“My God, they took their families,” Croucher said as agents escorted them. “I can’t believe they took their family.”

Croucher and Daniels then returned to accompany the Mexican woman, and Daniels patted her in peace on the shoulder. A masked agent quickly intercepted her.

“Yorelamo a a familia,” Daniels called out to the agent as he led the woman to a cargo elevator that was inaccessible to the public. “I’ll call your family.”

Croucher stood in the hallway.

“We feel like we have to witness that,” she said. “You can’t disappear people with people who no one sees. I think one day you need to have this horror record.”

What makes a great company’s reputation? Start with a happy employee

0

Organizations with strong reputations often share common characteristics.

The company’s reputation is more than a glossy marketing campaign or sophisticated mission statement. It starts with people inside. When engagement is high, the energy will flow outward, promoting better customer service, strengthening brand loyalty and helping businesses avoid PR nightmares.

To learn what’s really needed to create such an employee experience, we spoke with Jennifer McClure, a former HR executive and executive recruiter who currently works as a speaker focused on the future of work, innovative people strategy and impactful leadership.

What is happiness at work?

Happiness at work is rarely a flip in the hallway or wearing a big smile all the time, explains McClure. Instead, for many happy employees, it is often to enjoy the work you are doing.

You might think to yourself: “I’m still enjoying my job, and this is a problem, and now I’m unhappy and not working,” she says.

How can companies develop happiness at work?

How businesses treat people can make all the difference in whether employees feel motivated, valued and satisfied with their work environment. Below are four ways businesses can promote employee satisfaction:

1. Create meaning

It is one of the most powerful ways to increase employee engagement, and the company’s reputation is to help employees see the impact of their work.

“The most important thing you can do as a leader is to create meaning in the workplace,” says McClure. “And for me, it makes me happy — if people feel worthy.”

Employees may recognize the feeling when they appear and feel valuable. She explains that the work they do is important and that affects others.

“You put your employees first. If you take care of them, they will take care of you, then your customers will come back and your shareholders will really unite,” said Herb Kelleher, founder and chairman of Southwest.

Leaders can create a sense of meaning by clearly linking employees’ daily tasks to the larger organizational purpose and showing how each contribution makes a difference.

2. Live your core values

The core value of a company is not just the words on its website. They should guide their actions, shape workplace culture and live each day.

For example, if a company says it values providing exceptional service to its customers, its value should be modeled by leadership. When employees see leaders living these values, it strengthens their importance and strengthens engagement, employee morale, and company reputation.

“When you lean on your core values and purpose, that means a lot to people,” explains McClure. They feel they have chosen to join the company because they feel they believe in the mission or believe in their work.

That alignment doesn’t just drive engagement. It also affects the way employees talk about the company publicly and personally.

“Because if your culture is really rooted and it works and people match the values and culture you have, they are the experience when others ask about the company.

3. Please listen for feedback

When building a happier culture in the workplace, it is important to listen to both positive and negative feedback. People take them to sites like Glassdoor and Tiktok and review the companies they have worked for.

“Unfortunate employees aren’t the only people who write reviews on these sites,” says McClure.

If negative reviews are consistent, she says, “If people are talking about long working hours, if there’s no work-life balance or not being treated, that’s the way people feel in your company.”

That doesn’t mean that all negative comments are automatic red flags. McClure noted that it is important to weigh feedback in context, as not all reviews reflect the broader employee experience.

“If you go to Glassdoor and see hundreds of reviews from employees, former employees, or people who interviewed the company, they share positive experiences and then read 10 Share negative experiences.

Still, if someone’s experience is negative and feels compelled to post about it online, then that signal leadership should take it seriously.

4. Check in using a one-on-one meeting

Another opportunity to strengthen culture and happiness in the workplace is through one-on-one meetings. These check-ins are your chance for managers to see how employees are actually doing. Not just work, but overall experience.

McClure suggests asking employees. “Are you not asking about something we’re not talking about or whether it bothers you, whether it needs to be looked into, or that needs to be addressed?”

She explained that managers should actively look for the challenges their employees are facing.

“It’s great that they come and say everything is great, I have a one-on-one that says I achieve all the goals and say you’re a great manager. But we should ask them what’s not working,” she explains.

McClure also recommends questions that open up the door to constructive feedback. As a manager, I would like to give employees a magic wand and what will you change about your work, my leadership, our company?

Asking thoughtful, open-ended questions on one-on-one allows managers to move beyond surface-level check-in and reveal what employees really need to thrive.

At the end of the day, the happiest workplace is built on core values, meaningful work, and the foundations that drive feedback, namely employee satisfaction and company success.

Trump wants the Nobel Peace Prize. He may have to end more wars.

0

The president and his supporters cannot stop talking about the Nobel Peace Prize, but Trump denies that he wants it.

play

Washington – He begged, and he pleaded. He is being cajoled and blackmailed.

But more than seven months after his term, President Donald Trump was unable to end two of the world’s most bloody ongoing conflicts.

On the one hand, Russian President Vladimir Putin, who ignored the deadline after the deadline to end Russia’s war with Ukraine, has recently joined China’s authoritarian leadership, demonstrating massive power over the West.

Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is pushing for a growing list of countries that say military attacks in Gaza are accompanied by hunger and support the Palestinian state.

In the middle, the president, who has promised to sleep in both conflicts, and the Nobel Peace Prize talks against the reality of the Gaza and the Ukrainian war.

As for his peaceful efforts, Trump says he just wants to stop the murder. He denied craving perhaps the most prestigious award in the world.

“You can’t put yourself in that position,” Trump told the daily caller on August 29th.

Despite Trump’s stagnation in Ukraine and Gaza, he has said many times that he deserves a prize to resolve small conflicts between his two terms as president. The 2025 Nobel Peace Prize will be announced on October 10th in Oslo, Norway.

“They will never give me the Nobel Peace Prize,” Trump said at a February 4 meeting with Netanyahu in his oval office. “That’s a shame. I deserve it, but they never give it to me.”

Norwegian cold call?

In August, Norwegian newspaper Dagens Naeringsliv reported that Norwegian financial finalist Jens Stoltenberg received an unscheduled call from Trump to discuss tariffs and the Nobel Prize.

Former Prime Minister Stortenberg told Reuters that the call was to discuss tariffs and economic cooperation. “I won’t go into further detail about what the conversation is,” he added. (The five Norwegian Nobel Committees who receive the Nobel Peace Prize each year are appointed by Norwegian Parliament.)

The Nobel pinning was ridiculed by some of Trump’s opponents.

“Trump is pleading with foreign leaders to put him for the Nobel Prize. Have you ever done something so pathetic to us? Does it sound like someone firing with every cylinder?” Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer said in a September 2nd post on X.

Peacemaker playing cards

Trump says he deserves credit to end the Seven Wars. The White House says it counts conflicts that would have erupted if he hadn’t intervened.

He listed halts in combat between Israel and Iran. This ended after the US bombed Iran’s nuclear land. and an agreement between Thailand and Cambodia, Rwanda, Congo, India, Pakistan, Armenia and Azerbaijan, Egypt and Ethiopia, Serbia and Kusobo.

“The president of history has never done anything more to advance the cause of peace,” White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller told reporters on August 29, when he raised Trump’s Nobel nomination in response to questions about Putin’s faith.

Foreign policy experts say some of the White House examples do not qualify as war. The Serbia-Kosovo deal is an economic normalization agreement from Trump’s first term.

Trump’s role in halting cross-border violence between India and Pakistan is being contested by New Delhi. Still, Islamabad nominated him for the Nobel Prize in what he called the “stellar politician.” Leaders from at least four countries, including Netanyahu, say they will place Trump for the award.

Rep. Claudia Tenney, a Republican from New York, has nominated Trump twice for the Nobel Prize between several Arab countries and Israel in 2020 in Abraham Accord.

Nobel’s Dream And disappointment

Trump has been disgusted of not winning the ultimate recognition to stop the conflict.

“No, no matter what I do, like Russia/Ukraine or Israel/Iran, people know, no matter what those outcomes are. That’s important to me!” he said in a post on June 20th about the True Society.

In his Peace Prize speech, he also moved to change the name of the US Department of Defense to the Department of War.

In the footsteps of Barack Obama?

Only four US presidents and former presidents received the award: Theodore Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, Jimmy Carter and Barack Obama.

Carter won 20 years after taking office in 2002. Obama’s 2009 awards are just nine months after his presidency.

“He did more to win the Nobel Peace Prize than he did when Barack Obama got it, so I think it’s probably frustrating for him,” said Leslie Shedd, a former senior adviser to the House Foreign Affairs Committee, who is now a non-resident of Atlantic Council.

John Alterman, a former State Department official and current Middle Eastern expert, is an expert at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), who said many past winners had been engaged in peace negotiations for years before they won the award.

“It’s partly about timing. It’s partly about situations. It’s partly about relationships,” he said. “Not so, you just came up with the perfect formula and we were done.”

There is no “Subaku” award

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who lost the 2016 Trump election, said she would personally nominate him if she could end the Ukrainian war without giving away territory to Russia in August.

“However, peace built on Russian terms is unlikely to win the Nobel Peace Prize for Trump. One person has not won the award for surrender,” wrote diplomatic relations president Michael Fromman in a recent column.

After an Alaska Summit with Putin in August, Trump was caught up in a hot microphone telling French President Emmanuel Macron that he would like to make a deal for me.

However, since then, Putin has said that when he comes to Moscow he will only meet with Ukrainian President Voldymir Zelensky. (Zelensky replied that if Putin didn’t want to meet, invite him to Moscow is a surefire way to do so.)

Touting a “very good relationship” with Putin, Trump thought on September 3 that he thought it was “much easier” to resolve the war.

Is Trump “too enthusiastic”?

Alterman, a CSIS analyst, said that making a deal “seems too enthusiastic or too urgent” could be a “tool used against you, rather than leveraging your favor” in negotiations.

In the case of Netanyahu, who rejected calls from Trump and other world leaders, he stopped his campaign to eradicate Hamas amid the destruction of Gaza and the deaths of more than 60,000 Palestinians, Alterman said Netanyahu is watching the fight for Israeli survival.

“For many Israelis, they said on October 7th they intensified that there was no cure for Palestinian hostility,” Alterman said.

In March, Trump gave Hamas an ultimatum, saying “paying hell” and “for you” if the hostages were not released.

He appears to have taken him to social media on September 3rd, and encouraged the Israeli government to “return it to Hamas immediately.”

“What a bloody confusion.”

However, after Trump pointed out that it was Hamas’ attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, he said it was time for the war to begin and Netanyahu to close his operation.

“It’s so bad that it gets, and no one can forget it,” Trump said on Oct. 7. “That being said, we have to get through it.”

In response to the ongoing war, leaders from Australia, Britain, France, Canada and Belgium announced plans to formally recognize the Palestinian state at the UN General Assembly in New York, which Trump is scheduled to deal with, on September 23.

When Putin blew further Trump’s deadline, the president lamented that he was “disappointed” on September 2nd, saying they would speak quickly.

“Sometimes you never know in war,” Trump said the next day. “War is complicated, dangerous, and how confused. What a bloody mess.”

Porsche’s first hybrid 911 is here. Meet the 2025 Carrera GTS

play

  • 2025 Porsche 911 Carrera GTS prices start at $164,900.
  • The vehicle is currently at the dealer.
  • The 911 Carrera GTS has a top speed of 194 mph.

Porsche is a brand that is deeply ingrained in tradition, but it never stops its invention. It’s a difficult dichotomy to bridge, but the new 2025 911 Carrera GTS achieves it beautifully.

Advanced features such as hybrid power, electric assist turbocharge and rear steering coexist in sports cars with branded pillars such as the profile, which have evolved over 60 years to make the 911 GTS thrilling easily.

Here we look at some of the features that are relentlessly modern, but undoubtedly faithful to the Porsche 911 lineage.

The second electric motor does so what?

The 2025 911 Carrera GTS is Porsche’s first hybrid. What took so long?

Adding technology created to reduce fuel consumption to 911 will enhance performance rather than degrade.

The GTS powertrain consists of a 3.6L opposing horizontal six-cylinder engine that produces 478 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque. Producing 53 hp and 110 pound feet, the electric motor is built into the case of the GTS’ smooth, fast, dual-clutch eight-speed transmission.

Total system power is 532 hp and 449 lb-ft of torque. If you’re new to this, the numbers will not be added for rounding. Also, because gasoline and power sources do not peak at the same moment. Before the gasoline engine reaches stride, electric motors and electric assist turbochargers are useful for improving power and performance with low engine revs.

The small electric motor supports turbochargers with exhaust gases from the engine.

The motor allows for faster turbo power boosting. Deliverables include instant power when mashing gasoline pedals at any speed, from 0 to 60 mph in 2.9 seconds. The electric assist turbo is based on the system of Porsche’s 919 LMP1 prototype race car.

Porsche calls it an electronic turbo and calls the entire epic setup the Thybrid.

Chassis Magic

The rear wheel steering is standard on the GTS model. One of the best features that drivers don’t know about is that you may not know that RWS increases high speed stability and reduces turning radius. Combined with the 911’s variable-ratio power steering, the result is accurate, predictable steering and intuitive maneuverability.

From city streets to fast-moving highways and winding country roads, the GTS I drove for a week, slipping and shifting on 20-inch front/21-inch rear Goodyear Eagle F1 tires. The interior was quiet with a high speed, rough surface, and the 12-speaker, 570-watt Bose audio system worked brilliantly.

The 1.5 inch front axle lift helps clear speed bumps and driveway entries to protect the front splitter.

The adaptive underbody front diffuser directs air to minimize drag and to increase engine cooling as needed.

The GTS gets stiffer springs, specially tuned dampers and anti-roll bars to compensate for the extra weight of the hybrid system.

Main Features: 2025 Porsche 911 Carrera GTS

  • Electric support turbocharger
  • Rear wheel steering
  • Bose Audio
  • 8-speed dual clutch transmission
  • Front axle lift
  • Matrix Design LED Headlight
  • Active aerodynamic power
  • Starting the push button
  • Multifunctional Equipment Cluster
  • Wireless charging
  • Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto

Attractive and easy to use interior

My GTS has rear storage and parcel shelves for the 4.8 cubic feet of front trunk, creating a stunning space to secure a large Detroit-style pizza pair on a sunny Sunday afternoon.

The 12.6-inch equipment cluster is completely digital and presents performance pages with clear maps, speed, torque curves, G-force and more. The 10.9-inch display handled Infotainment, Wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and more.

Controls included a small number of physical controls in the center stack, including volume, fan temperature, exhaust modes, and adjustable impact.

The steering wheel has an intuitive stem for adaptive cruise control.

The traditional ignition on the left side of the steering wheel is replaced by a start/stop button. This is a wonderful renewal of Porsche heritage.

Why buy the 2025 Porsche 911 Carrera GTS?

Few vehicles around the world match the performance, looks and technology of the GTS. Porsche continues to add sophisticated technology that makes it easier to drive legendary vehicles in everyday life at the same time and makes them even more capable on trucks. As Porsche explores higher levels of price and performance, it has evolved to improve the appearance, appearance and materials of the interior.

Sidney Sweeney wins “Christie” standing ovation at the premiere

0

play

Toronto – A bundle of chicken and jelly was at Sydney Sweeney’s training table, preparing to play boxer Christy Martin. After the reception, the sports biopic “Christy” was received when it premiered on September 5th at the Toronto Film Festival.

Sweeney won a standing ovation – the real Martin, accompanied by her pooch, Champion, also won a transformational role that could have her be nominated for the best actress Oscar.

“Christie” follows the life of the title character, who won a West Virginia teenager in the 1990s over a championship boxer in the Toughman Contest, eventually landing on a cover of a sports illustration and signs with infamous promoter Don King (Chad Coleman). Outside the ring, however, Christy marries Jim Martin (Ben Foster), a trainer who hides and suppresses her lesbianism and manipulates her to physically abuse her.

“If you leave me, I’ll kill you,” Jim says again and again. And in the film’s most disastrous bloody sequence, he almost endures that promise.

Sweeney said to the festival crowd: “I thanked Christie for spreading her story and awareness.

The actress shed tears as she was talking next to Martin in the post-premier Q&A.

“You’re so inspiring, it was a dream to be able to have her by my side during this process,” Sweeney said. “But the scary thing is, they say, ‘Oh, I’m doing this right in front of my eyes.’ And I wasn’t sure. So she’s the best boxer in the world and has to hook and hit. It was a dream to come true as an actor, as a person, as an actor. ”

Sweeney also spoke about her transformation in the film. She trained three times a day for three months before filming began, working with a boxing coach, weight trainer and nutritionist.

Her meal consisted of “many Chickfill A, many, many, many, many, many smackers, many milkshakes, many protein shaking.” Sweeney recalls. “But it was incredible to be able to fully embody such a powerful woman. I felt even stronger. It was really exciting.”

Martin said Sweeney portrayed her as the fierce and proud knockout artist in the ring.

“Boxer Christy Martin was really just a persona. He’s very overblown and very selfish, but that’s not really me,” Martin said. “I’m actually very shy and reserved and want to help everyone who can do in the boxing world.

“So I have these two parts of my personality, so I think it’s why Sydney Sweeney does such a great job because she became this completely different person none of you expected. She wasn’t a beautiful, sexy Sydney. She was the tough and sturdy Christie in this film.

Martin’s post-ring career includes speaking out to support victims of domestic violence. After the posthumous incident involving her ex-husband, she said, “I made a covenant with God from my hospital bed. If he lets me live, I will help as many people as possible.” “In fact, I said one person before I died, and I was arrogant person, “No, I want to help one person every day before I die.”

“I hope this film does just that,” Martin said. “If anybody can make it, if the daughter of a coal miner from 500 towns in southern West Virginia can make it.”

Sweeney added: “I hope people are leaving and they are absolutely inspired by Christie.

Venice Film Festival gives the highest award to “Brothers and Brothers of Fathers”

Venice – Indie director Jim Jalmonsch unexpectedly won the coveted Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival on Saturday, along with “father’s sister and brother” in a three-part meditation on the uneasy connection between parents and adult children.

His gentle comedy received mostly positive reviews, but it wasn’t a top prize favorite. Instead, many critics were hoping for “The Voice of Hind Rajab,” a tragic and true life explanation of killing a five-year-old Palestinian girl during the Gaza War.

In the end, the film directed by Tunisian Kaouther Ben Hania won the runner-up Silver Lion.

Set in Dublin, New Jersey and Paris, “My Mother’s Sisters” features an ensemble cast of Tom Waits, Adam Driver, Mimi Biarik, Charlotte Rampling, Cate Blanchett, Vicki Creep, Indy Moore and Luka Sabbatt.

Each installment gently drifts through a domestic encounter where nothing happens, but the small gestures and silence sketch the nastyness of a generation that plagues families.

“All of us who make films, we’re not motivated by competition, but this is something I really appreciate. This unexpected honor,” said Jarmusch, who gave him his name in the 1980s for quirky, low-budget productions such as “Down By Law.”

In other categories, Italian Toni Serbilo was named Best Actor for his portrayal of the hardships of a tired president approaching the end of his mission in “La Grazia,” directed by longtime collaborator Paolo Sorrentino.

China’s Xhinii has won the best actress for her role in “The Sun Rises on Us All,” a drama directed by Kaishanjun, which delves into the issues of sacrifice, guilt and unresolved emotions among estranged lovers who share dark secrets.

The Venice Festival marks the beginning of the awards season, regularly throwing big favorites for the Oscars, collecting over 90 Oscar nominations here in the past four years, winning nearly 20.

Venice has often been considered the most appealing and least political of major film festivals, but in 2025, the most powerful influence film focusing on current events casts a long shadow of the ongoing invasion of Gaza in Israel.

When he released his film last weekend, Jarmusch admitted his concern that one of his major distributors had taken money from a company with ties to the Israeli military.

“The Voice of Hind Rajab” was a fan favorite that won a 24-minute standing ovation in its premiere as her car helped with the real audio of a young girl’s hopeless plea while under Israeli shootings.

“The cinemas can’t get back to their backs, nor can they erase the atrocities committed against her. They can’t recover what they took, but cinemas can keep her voice up and resonate across the border,” Ben Hania said Saturday night.

“Her voice will continue to resonate until justice is accomplished, until accountability becomes reality.”

Best Director Nod went to Benny Safdie for “The Smashing Machine.” This starred in Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in the role of Mark Kerr, a pioneer in real life mixed martial arts.

“To be among the Giants and Giants of the past this year, it’s just blowing my mind,” said Safdi, who previously co-directed the film with his older brother Josh.

The Special Jue Award was marked by the threat of repeated earthquakes and volcanic eruptions on his black and white documentary “Under the Clouds,” in Naples, by the threat of repeated earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.

Among the films that left Venice empty-handed were a trio of photographs from Netflix: Kathryn Bigelow’s nuclear thriller House of Dynamite, retelling of Guiller Model Toro’s Frankenstein, and Noah Banbach’s Dramedy Jay Kelly.

“There’s No Other Option” by South Korean Park Chang Wook also failed to win the award despite a strong review of Yorgos Lanthimos, a similar “Bagonia.”

Sabalenka is repeated as the US Open Champion to beat Anisimova: Highlights

NEW YORK – Alina Sabalenka won her fourth Grand Slam title and solidified her position as the world’s number one player in a 6-3, 7-6 (3) victory over Amanda Anishimova in the US Open Finals on Saturday.

Since Serena Williams won three titles in a row from 2012 to 2014, Sabalenka has played for the third Straight US Open Final, and is the first defending champion to be repeated. All four of her Grand Slam Championships are on the hard court.

No. 8 seed Anishimoba appeared in the second straight grand slam final after losing to Iga Swiatek at Wimbledon. Despite his losses, Anishimova was a career-high fourth in the rankings, including an incredible open run in the quarter-finals against Swiecsk, a revenge of the final 6-0, 6-0 Wimbledon defeat, and a three-set thrilling semi-final victory over Naomi Osaka.

The 24-year-old Anishimova is now firmly established as part of the American wave of women’s tennis. This is a trend that US players have appeared in each of the last five Grand Slam Singles Finals.

But for Sabalenka, she finally overcomes the Hump, defeating the Americans in the final after losing to the Madison Keys at the Australian Open and losing to Cocogoff at the French Open.

“You know what it’s like to lose a Grand Slam final. You know you’ll win. You learn a lot from these defeats and you have an incredible tennis game,” Sabalenka told Anishimova during the trophy presentation.

She reduced these errors in the first set and began taking control after the two games split the first six games. Sabalenka attacked with her serve, and Anishimoba struggled to return it. She committed 29 forced errors that day.

Sabalenka took a 5-4 victory, tied 30 and got a chance to reach match points, and forehand smash hit the net straight, giving Anisimova a new life, and sparking fierce applause from the crowd. Sabalenka reorganized and forced the tiebreak during the service game, sending out crowds who had previously rammed through the complicated downpour due to the heavy rains near the start of the match.

Sabalenka holds Serve after instilling a chance to win the match, and the player gets a 7-point tiebreaker.

Sabalenka, who served 5-4 and serving, had a chance to reach match points at age 30-30, but her forehead smash straightened up to the net, giving Anishimoba a new life, and now Anishimoba serves in five games.

Anishimoba was broken in the second third game, fighting for a while and couldn’t find a rhythm. Anishimoba was unable to accomplish that and was quickly taken away by Sabalenka’s service game, finding himself 3-1.

Sabalenka’s powers are beginning to pay dividends as they won their final three games and won their first set of 6-3. Anisimova has 13 winners, which are neutralised by her 14 forced errors. Sabalenka is one set away from winning his first major title of the year and the fourth major title overall.

She quickly broke when Anisimova had the opportunity to put real pressure on Sabalenka as he won three consecutive games to take the lead. She has 10 forced errors throughout the first seven games, so it’s important to watch as the match progresses.

Just as she has had all the tournaments for a long time, Anishimova even fought back into the match with a powerful service game in which Sabalenka shook her head, and was netted due to an error that was not forced to return forehand.

Anisimova missed the chance to rest in the first game and failed to take a quick lead on two occasions. Sabalenka broke her in the next game, with the number 8 seed quickly becoming 0-2, with the reality champion serving next.

The roof of Arthur Ashe Stadium will be closed for Saturday’s US Open Women’s Final as it is raining in New York City and is expected to reach Flushing Meadows soon. The roof was closed for both women’s semi-final matches on Thursday as bad weather was heading towards Queens.

The roof was open as there was a clear skies in the men’s semi-finals on Friday. However, forecasts for Sunday’s final between Carlos Alcaraz and Janik Sinner are expected to see rain fall again.

Jonathan Bailey takes a break from acting after “Evil” sequel

Back in the Hollywood blockbuster, Jonathan Bailey is ready to press pause in acting.

In a UK GQ interview published on September 3, the Bridgerton star said he plans to take a break from acting next year following the release of Wicked: For Good. Instead of taking on bigger roles like paleontologists Dr. Henry Loomis and Prince Fiero, Bailey will focus on his LBGTQ+ charity group known as the Shameless Fund.

“I’ve been working hard for about three years and it’s been amazing, but now it’s all going on, so next year I’ll just stop acting a little and focus on the shameless fund,” he says. “Over the next few months, I will focus on staffing and make sure I get all the right people in all the right places.”

When the sequel to “Wicked,” which will be released in theaters this November, his face will return to the big screen alongside Ariana Grande and Cynthia Eribo, so fans don’t have to worry.

Bailey’s release won over $855 million worldwide after the release of Jurassic World Revival in July, and last November’s Wicked won over $755 million worldwide, landing 10 Oscar nominations.

He is also busy with television roles, including 2023 “Female Traveler” and Congress staff member Tim Laughlin.

But in the looming 2026, Bailey will focus on supporting LGBTQ+ people in the UK through a charity he founded last year.

What is the Shameless Fund?

The Shameless Fund, founded by Jonathan Bailey, is dedicated to raising and protecting queer people by leveraging the power of celebrities.

“A few years ago I wondered what I could do as an actor. There are a lot of great people on the frontline. They are real heroes who work for organizations, charities and initiatives,” Bailey told Vogue last year. “How can you raise money without asking people to actually donate and sponsor them?

In an interview with GQ, Bailey said that charities aim to be fun and creative, while also finding solutions to better support the LGBTQ+ community.
