WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump has appointed the next candidate for the United Nations ambassador to the United Nations after ousting Mike Waltz as his national security adviser.

The spectacular move, announced in the Truth Social Post, comes after USA Today and other outlets reported on May 1 that they had left as national security advisers amid a continuing fallout weeks after journalists invited chats between national security officials discussing plans for airstrikes in Yemen.

Trump said Secretary of State Marco Rubio will continue to lead the State Department and serve as national security adviser.
