‘50501 Movement’ wins nationwide support
The 50501 Movement has seen strong national support in protests against President Donald Trump’s policies.
The 50501 Movement, which emerged online to challenge President Donald Trump’s second administration, has partnered with several advocacy groups to hold May Day demonstrations nationwide.
“On May 1, 2025, in a US city, we will gather in solidarity – honoring the legacy of workers who organized for eight hours,” reads the group’s Bluesky social media page post. The group protested “National Day of Solidarity” on Thursday, May 1, to “stop the billionaire takeover,” referring to Trump administration policies and its relationship with Elon Musk.
More than 1,000 demonstrations and meetings are scheduled for all states and overseas, most will be held on Thursday, May 1st. It goes back to the 1880s when American workers fought to protect eight hours of workers and other workers. Like many other countries including Canada and many other countries, including many in Western Europe, it is not a national holiday in the United States, but it is a key date for marching, protest, and other forms of political action, often centering on workers’ rights and workers’ rights.

The group says its purpose is to “fight to maintain the constitution and end the overreach of enforcement.” It raised concerns about the Trump administration’s government efficiency and its close ties with Musk.

Thousands of protesters gathered across the United States to oppose President Donald Trump’s administration and policies.
“Today we are facing new threats,” says the group’s website. “The billionaires-backed minorities are quietly changing our democracy.”
They held extensive demonstrations in February and April, claiming that an unknown organizer on the group’s active Reddit channel had more than 72,000 people joined the 40 states in the first extensive action on February 5th.
Organizers of the February protest described the movement’s push as a “anti-democratic, destructive, and often a decentralized, rapid response to illegal activities being carried out by the Trump administration and his plutocrats.”
Kay Ebert, an organizer involved in the movement, told USA Today in February that the effort began as an idea posted on Reddit, with several activist organisations jumping in to help consolidate, organize and promote the protest.
“We’re trying to keep them going,” she said. “This will bring a lot… No one can ignore this, right? We want to continue the momentum.”
