New polls show Trump’s low approval rate in the first 100 days
Less than half of Americans have approved President Donald Trump in their first 100 days and have approved the new NPR/PBS News/Marist Voting Show.
President Donald Trump’s approval rating remains at the lowest for the newly elected president for more than 50 years, according to a new NPR/PBS News/Marist poll released on Tuesday, April 29th.
The poll showed 42% of adult respondents who approved Trump’s job as President of Trump in a survey conducted April 21-23. The results are roughly in line with other recent polls released by CNN and Economist/YouGov, each finding a 41% approval rating.
So far, when asked to assess the president’s performance in the president’s office, almost half of respondents have failed Republicans, with 23% giving an A in the latest NPR/PBS News/Marist polls.
The only other administration to collect such low approval numbers in the first 100 days is Gallup’s historical comparisons during Trump’s first term eight years ago.
The latest NPR/PBS/Marist vote shows a decline in Trump’s second term approval rate
This latest survey is one of several studies released in the past few weeks, showing an overall decline in Trump’s eventful support a few months ago in the oval office.
Trump’s second term began in late January with a deportation program that led to a massive federal layoffs, extensive tariffs, an escalating trade war with China and a bitter court battle.
More than half of respondents say that when Trump asked the same question last month, he is moving the country in a direction that “it gets worse.” This is a slight decline from 45% in April, compared to 42% of those who say the president is enacting “a change for the better.”
7% say the president is moving the country in a similar direction to “no real change at all.”
The average of recent polls published by Polling Data Autolet RealClearpolitics, including Tuesday’s poll, put Trump at a 45.2% approval rate and a 52.4% disapproval.
Most Americans have expressed disapproval of immigration and economy in the latest polls
The economy and immigration ruled the presidential race and maintained a major issue for the early months of Trump’s second administration. More than half of those voted were expressed dissatisfaction with his actions regarding these two hot button issues.
In a poll, 55% of respondents said they disapproved of how the president handled the economy. Also, 88% of democratic respondents, 59% of independents and 17% of Republicans disapproved of Trump’s handling of the economy. Overall, 39% of Americans said they approve Trump’s position on the economy.
When it comes to immigration, 44% of Americans approved how Trump is dealing with immigration, while 52% said they disapproved. Of the independents, 37% have approved and 57% have disapproved.
A survey of 1,439 adults from April 21-23 showed an error of +/- 3.3 percentage points, with 34% of Democrats, 32% of Republicans and 31% of independents.
