The Powerball jackpot has now risen to a whopping $707 million after no one won the grand prize in the drawing on Wednesday, July 29th.
The jackpot, with an estimated cash value of $309.7 million, continues to grow each night unclaimed. If you eventually win the jackpot, it will reset to $20 million.
But the Powerball jackpot has been in contention for nearly three months. The last time someone won a jackpot was May 2, when winning tickets in Texas and Florida split a $20 million jackpot, spurring a series of rollovers that turned a modest prize into one of the year’s biggest lottery payouts.
The Powerball drawing came a day after a lucky lottery player in Florida won an $800 million Mega Millions jackpot, the 10th largest jackpot in Mega Millions history, according to a previous report by USA TODAY.

Has anyone won the Powerball jackpot?
According to the Powerball website, no one won the jackpot or the $2 million Match 5 + Power Play prize, but one lucky person in Maryland won the $1 million Match 5 prize.
When is the next Powerball drawing?
The next Powerball drawing will take place on Saturday, August 1st at approximately 10:59 PM ET. The drawing can be watched live on the Powerball website, and players can rewatch the clip on YouTube.
Powerball drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday.

How to play Powerball
Powerball tickets cost $2 per play and are sold in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. This can be done at a variety of locations, including local convenience stores, gas stations, and grocery stores.
In some states, you can purchase Powerball tickets online depending on the local jurisdiction.
Once you have your ticket, you have to choose six numbers. Five of them are white balls numbered 1-69. The red Powerball range is 1-26. You can also add a “Power Play” for $1, which increases your winnings on all non-jackpot prizes.
“Power Play” multipliers can increase your winnings by 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, or 10x.
A “Quick Pick” option is also available if you want the computer to select the numbers for you. To win the jackpot, players must match all five white balls with the red Powerball in any order.
Powerball drawings are held on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday nights. If no one wins the jackpot, the prize increases.
Do I need to be a US citizen or resident to play Powerball?
The short answer is “no.”
Anyone visiting any of the 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or the U.S. Virgin Islands may purchase lottery tickets from authorized and licensed retailers, regardless of nationality, as long as they meet the legal age requirements (usually 18 years old) at the time of purchase.

Although UK players are currently competing for the same jackpots as US participants, there are some key differences in how tickets are sold and prizes are paid out.
A Powerball ticket costs 4 British pounds, or about $5.32, in the United Kingdom, compared to $2 in the United States. UK ticket sales will contribute to a shared jackpot, but lower prizes will be awarded through a separate prize structure.
Jackpot payouts also vary. U.S. winners can choose a cash lump sum option or annual payments over 30 years.
Winners in the UK will receive an annual payout for 30 years through the UK National Lottery.
