State House Speaker Ryan Fecteau announced that one person has been killed in a shooting involving federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in Maine.

The shooting occurred on the morning of Monday, July 13, in the city of Biddeford, about 25 miles south of Portland, Fecteau said.

“State Police and the Department of Public Safety are currently on scene to gather details, and we expect the FBI to investigate as well,” Fecteau said.

ICE did not respond to requests for comment.

The shooting occurred less than a week after ICE agents shot and killed Lorenzo Salgado Araujo in Houston, Texas. The incident reignited scrutiny of federal agents months after the shooting deaths of Renee Good and Alex Preti by federal agents in Minneapolis.
