Best Buy is recalling thousands of Insignia front-control gas ranges and warning consumers that the appliances are a fire hazard and can cause serious injury.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall after Best Buy said the affected gas ranges could be unintentionally turned on by people or pets. According to the recall notice, the company has received one report of a knob being activated by accidental contact, but no injuries have been reported.

This recall affects approximately 3,820 Insignia front control gas ranges sold in the United States and an additional 700 units sold in Canada. The recalled appliances were available for purchase at Best Buy stores nationwide and online from November 2020 to March 2026 for prices ranging from $280 to $1,470.

Here’s what you need to know about the recalled gas ranges, including affected models and what consumers should do.

Which Best Buy gas ranges are being recalled?

The recall includes Insignia front control gas ranges with the following model numbers:

The recalled gas ranges are made of stainless steel and have five knobs mounted on the front above the oven door. The “Insignia” label will appear on the bottom of the oven door.

Consumers can find the model number on the label inside the bottom drawer of this product. Insignia is a Best Buy brand.

What should consumers do?

Consumers with recalled products should immediately stop using their appliances and visit Best Buy’s recall website to see if their model is affected.

After verifying eligible product inclusion, consumers will receive a free set of compatible knob covers and installation instructions.

Best Buy also urges consumers to keep children and pets away from stovetops, to make sure they are turned off when leaving the house or before going to bed, and to avoid leaving objects on top of the stove when it is not in use.

Consumers with questions can contact Best Buy at 800-566-7498, Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Central Time.
