Wegmans named to Forbes’ list of family businesses
Wegmans ranks No. 36 on Forbes’ list of America’s 100 largest family-owned companies.
Beyond Meat, which makes plant-based meat substitutes designed to look, cook and taste like real beef, pork and chicken, is debuting its newest product, Beyond Steak Fillets, at Wegmans Food Markets and HEB, a supermarket chain with stores throughout Texas and Mexico.
Previously, Beyond Steak Fillets were available only at select restaurants and through the Beyond Meat website.
“Over the past several years, Wegmans has strived to be a destination for innovative plant-based foods by continually expanding our product assortment to exceed our customers’ needs,” Wegmans Category Seller Sarah Hoffman said in a statement. “We look for products that deliver on both taste and ingredient quality, and we felt Beyond Meat’s new Steak Fillet was the perfect way to offer our customers a product that makes mealtime easier and more exciting. …Additionally, this product is made with clean ingredients, which is consistent with the quality we value in our own products.”
He noted that by 2026, Wegmans will be the only brick-and-mortar store on the East Coast offering this product. A package of two 4.45-ounce fillets costs $10.99.
What’s in Beyond Steak Fillet?
Beyond Steak Fillet’s ingredients include mycelium (a mushroom root-like structure), wheat gluten and fava protein, avocado oil, brown rice powder, oat bran and oat fiber, beet juice extract, vinegar, salt, garlic powder, and onion powder.
Plant-based steaks contain no antibiotics or hormones and are non-GMO, meaning they are produced without genetic modification.
According to Beyond Meat’s website, it needs to be pan-fried in hot oil. Cooking in an air fryer, heating in a microwave, or baking is not recommended.
One filet contains 230 calories, 28 grams of protein, 3 grams of fiber, 1 gram of saturated fat, and no cholesterol.

Beyond steak fillet debut
Beyond Steak Filet debuted in July 2025 and has been added to the menu at BOA Steakhouse, a fine dining restaurant with locations in Southern California, Las Vegas, and Austin, Texas.
The company said in a statement that Beyond Steak Fillet packages became available on the Beyond Meat website in October 2025 and quickly became a top seller.
