President Donald Trump has announced that he will pardon six people who say they were unfairly “persecuted” by the Biden administration for clean air-related crimes.

In a post on Truth Social on July 3, President Trump said people were “in jail or being sent to jail for ‘fixing cars.'” I know this sounds ridiculous, but it’s still a fact, and it’s part of the weaponization and stupidity our country has had to endure for four long years of Sleepy Joe Biden. Make them all free now! ”

President Trump did not reveal the names of those he pardoned. The White House did not immediately respond to USA TODAY’s request for the names of those pardoned.

Earlier this year, the Department of Justice announced that it would no longer pursue criminal charges under the Clean Air Act for “alleged tampering with diagnostic equipment installed in automobiles.”

The Clean Air Act is a federal law that regulates air emissions from stationary and mobile sources and controls air pollution.

President Trump oversaw the rollback of more than 100 environmental regulations during his first term. Shortly after President Trump took office for his second term, Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lee Zeldin announced that the agency would take 31 deregulatory actions.
