Taylor Swift is reportedly the mastermind behind the elaborate plan
Madison Square Garden offers several important advantages for soon-to-be newlyweds, including plenty of security and a blank canvas for the set.
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce plan to take over Madison Square Garden for two events celebrating their marriage, ABC News and CNN reported on June 30, citing people familiar with the plans.
CNN reports that the couple will kick off on Thursday, July 2, with a more intimate event to be held as a “rehearsal” for about 100 people at 6 p.m. A large celebration will be held at the venue on Friday, July 3rd, with approximately 1,000 guests, starting with a late afternoon ‘cocktail party’ and continuing until 4am on Saturday, July 4th.
ABC News reports that both events will have a strict no-phone policy for everyone inside the venue, including guests, vendors and security.
USA TODAY has confirmed that a permit has been filed to close roads near Madison Square Garden from July 2nd to July 4th. However, the records do not identify Swift or Kelsey, nor do they indicate whether the incident is directly related to the couple.
The request includes pitching tents outside Madison Square Garden and closing roads around the iconic venue.
Production equipment and trucks have been spotted around the arena, but the couple have not revealed when or where they plan to get married.
Despite the speculation, few details have been revealed and few leaks have surfaced. Travis Kelce’s brother Jason Kelce and his wife Kylie Kelce, fellow NFL star George Kittle and actor/singer Suki Waterhouse are also scheduled to attend.
The star-studded guest list is also rumored to include Selena Gomez, the Haim sisters, Zoe Kravitz, Emma Stone, Gigi Hadid, Ed Sheeran and Jack Antonoff.
Prior to news coverage of their wedding celebration, the couple recently appeared together in public, attending an NFL Summit reception at Tight End College in Nashville on Monday, June 22nd.
In addition to the reported no-phone policy, other details have been revealed. Guests are asked to leave gifts at home.
“They said no presents,” San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle told Extra at the Tight Ends & Friends concert in Nashville on Tuesday, June 23.
“It seems expensive,” Kittle said jokingly.
