When Taylor Swift appeared on the screens at Nissan Stadium during Alan Jackson’s farewell concert in Nashville, she was met with boos and cheers during her special video message.
Country music stars gathered for the “Chattahoochee” singer’s farewell performance in Nashville on June 27th. Many singers performed in tribute, including Luke Bryan, Eric Church, Luke Combs, Riley Green, Cody Johnson, Miranda Lambert, Little Big Town, Jake Owen, Jon Pardi, Thomas Rhett, George Strait, Carrie Underwood, Laney Wilson, and Lee Ann Womack.
Throughout the night, emotional videos from various chapters of Jackson’s career were played on stage-side screens, along with messages from stars who weren’t in attendance, including country singers Keith Urban, Zac Brown and Kenny Chesney, as well as NASCAR drivers Jeff Gordon and Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Just before Jackson took the stage, Grand Ole Opry announcer Kelly Sutton said, “We have one more video.”
As Swift’s face appeared on the screen, boos drowned out the beginning of her message. Some people in the audience cheered, but all that could be heard from one of the stadium’s suites was the end of a message: “Thank you so much for the tremendous support and encouragement you have shown me and other artists and writers over the years. And I look forward to your show.”
“Love Story” performance
Swift’s appearance came just days after she traveled to Nashville to support her fiancé, Travis Kelce, during Tight End University, an annual summit for NFL tight ends co-founded by Kelce, George Kittle and Greg Olsen.
The Grammy Award winner attended a happy hour event and “Tight Ends & Friends” concert, where he wowed the crowd with a duet of “Love Story” with Laney Wilson.
In recent weeks, Swift and Kelsea have continued to be in the spotlight with increased speculation surrounding their wedding plans. According to reports, the couple is preparing for their wedding next week. However, neither has publicly acknowledged the date or location.
