Snickers is poking fun at one of the most famous names in the candy world with a new campaign offering free candy bars to people named “Reese.”

The Mars-owned brand announced in a May 28 news release that Americans with Reese, Reese, Reese, or other spelling variations will have a chance to win a year’s worth of Snickers peanut butter bars when they sign the Snickers Peanut Butter Pledge online.

To promote its candy, Snickers formed a focus group made up entirely of people named Reese and asked comedian Eric Andre to direct a series of reaction videos in which participants sampled Snickers Peanut Butter and Snickers Peanut Butter Ice Cream for the first time.

The company says 71% of those surveyed said texture is a “non-negotiable” part of the eating experience, and Snickers Peanut Butter aims to satisfy both creamy and crunchy peanut butter fans.

Here’s what you need to know about Snickers’ peanut butter pledge.

What is Snickers peanut butter?

According to the company, Snickers Peanut Butter combines creamy peanut butter, crunchy peanuts, caramel and nougat in milk chocolate.

Mars said the product is designed to provide both creamy and crunchy textures in one candy bar, so customers don’t have to choose between two peanut butter styles.

The company also highlighted Snickers Peanut Butter Ice Cream Bars, which feature peanuts both in the ice cream and on top.

Martin Terwilliger, vice president of marketing for Mars Wrigley North America, said in a statement that the company wants to show consumers that they don’t have to compromise between creamy and crunchy peanut butter.

“We are so confident in our product that we tested it,” Terwilliger said. “The verdict is out, and it’s clear that nothing else could have been more satisfying.”

Snickers Peanut Butter and Snickers Peanut Butter Ice Cream are currently available at retailers nationwide for between $1.50 and $6 depending on location and package size. For example, a single bar costs about $1.50 at Dollar General, while a sharing size pack of Fun Size bars costs about $5.97 at Walmart.

How to apply for Snickers giveaway

Anyone whose first, middle, or last name is Reese, or an acceptable variation, can enroll by signing the pledge online through June 11.

The first 100 eligible customers will receive a special reward, and 25 will be chosen in a drawing to win a year’s worth of Snickers peanut butter products, Mars said.
