These sandals will take your toes to a new level.

The internet is divided over a unique, almost non-existent shoe featured in the Chanel Cruise 2027 collection by creative director Mathieu Blazy. The show in Biarritz, France, took place this week and was attended by A-Listers including A$AP Rocky, Michaela Cole and Nicole Kidman.

The luxury fashion brand unveiled a shoe that covered only the heel, giving it an unconventional barefoot look. Vogue staffers shared their initial reactions to the film, with some intrigued and noting how Blazey leans into fantasy.

“What a cheeky and fun idea. Blazey isn’t trying to convince anyone that this is practical, but sometimes quirkiness is the point,” said one person. Another person had a different opinion. “I’m terrified. I’m not ready for a pedicure. I have to keep my toes in place for now.”

Once it appeared on their timelines, social media users enjoyed it and posted their opinions unfiltered.

Internet reaction to Chanel sandals

Content creator Remi Bader created a DIY version of a designer sandal that went viral. In the video, she stepped outside wearing laces around her ankles and cardboard-like heels.

“I’m so excited because I get to go out tonight in my new Chanel shoes. No one else has them. They’re not even in the stores yet,” she joked. “They’re sick, they’re sick, they’re sick.”

Other users of X agreed: “At that point, walk barefoot,” one user wrote. Another person added, “Shoe thong underwear.”

One person loved the idea: “Half a shoe, be dramatic! That gold fringe detail gives me energy. Chanel is making couture with bare feet!”
