President Donald Trump has nominated Dr. Nicole Safier to be the next U.S. Surgeon General after confirmation of the previous nomination stalled.
Safia is a breast radiologist and has been a Fox News contributor since 2018. According to her LinkedIn profile, she is director of breast imaging at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in Monmouth and an associate professor at Weill Cornell Medical College, specializing in breast and tumor imaging.
“Nicole is a star physician who has spent her career guiding women facing breast cancer through diagnosis and treatment, tirelessly advocating for increased early detection and prevention of cancer, and working with men and women on the diagnosis and treatment of all other forms of cancer,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social.
“She is also an incredible communicator who makes complex health issues easy to understand for all Americans,” he added.
Dr. Casey Means, a former candidate for President Trump, faced opposition in the Senate over his current medical license and lack of position on vaccines.
This is a developing story and will be updated.
