Burger King upgrades the Whopper. USA TODAY Check out Mike Snider’s review.
Burger King has relaunched its iconic Whopper sandwich for the first time in 10 years with a new box, improved bun and mayonnaise.
Burger King is expanding its workforce by hiring about 60,000 new employees this year.
Burger King began a nationwide hiring campaign on April 2 to hire up to 60,000 new employees from entry-level to management positions to its approximately 6,500 U.S. restaurants, according to a news release.
A news release said the search followed “a series of brand milestones that have repositioned Burger King restaurants as destinations for both guests and employees.”
“To maintain this momentum, we need great people who are passionate, hard-working and genuinely friendly,” Burger King President Tom Curtis said in a statement. “A warm welcome goes a long way, and our team members who bring that energy every day are at the heart of what makes the Burger King experience so special.”
USA TODAY reached out to Burger King for details on the annual number of in-store employees, but as of April 7th, the company had not received a response.

Burger King recently revamped its Whopper.
Notably, the burger chain revamped its iconic Whopper earlier this year, offering a “higher-quality, better-tasting bun” and “better-tasting mayonnaise,” all in a “box that allows you to serve it to your guests right out of the kitchen.”
The change, the first for Whopper in a decade, comes after Curtis asked customers in February for feedback about their experience at the chain.
