According to a notice from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Honda will recall more than 19,000 motorcycles.

Honda’s motorcycle recall is due to a defective screw in the bike’s handlebars, which the notice says can become loose, detach from the bike, and become wedged between the frame and stem, “interfering with steering and increasing the risk of collision and injury.”

“Owners should contact Honda customer service at 1-866-784-1870. Honda’s phone number for this recall is KUO,” the recall states.

Owners of affected vehicles will receive notification letters on May 8, according to the notice. For bikes that have been impacted, dealers will apply lock screws and thread locks free of charge.

Here’s what you need to know about the recall.

How to search for car recalls

Vehicle owners can search NHTSA’s database for recalls based on their vehicle identification number (VIN).

USA TODAY’s recall database also includes information on recalls for automobiles, food, medicine, and other products.

According to the notification, a total of 19,406 Honda motorcycles are subject to the recall.
