Frito-Lay has recalled its popular potato chip products after discovering they may contain undeclared allergens.

Some bags of Miss Vicky’s Spicy Dill Pickle Potato Chips may contain undeclared milk, according to a March 3 notice from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The bag may contain jalapeño chips, another Miss Vicky’s potato chip flavor, but this one contains milk.

According to an FDA notice, people with a milk allergy may have a serious allergic reaction if they consume potato chips. Anyone without a dairy allergy can safely consume chips.

Frito-Lay has no reported allergic reactions and no other Miss Vicki products have been recalled, according to the notice.

“A limited number of 8-ounce bags of Miss Vicki’s Spicy Dill Pickle Potato Chips are being recalled because they may contain jalapeño-flavored potato chips, and therefore may contain undeclared milk allergens. Unless the consumer has a dairy allergy or sensitivity, this product is safe to consume,” Frito-Lay said in a statement to USA TODAY.

Which potato chips have been recalled?

Frito-Lay has recalled several 8-ounce bags of Miss Vicki’s Spicy Dill Pickle Potato Chips.

Affected products can be identified by the UPC code barcode on the back of the bag or the code date and manufacturing code on the right side of the front of the bag.

Recalled products can be identified as:

  • UPC: 0 28400 761772
  • Code Date and Manufacturing Code: Both the April 21st “Freshness Guaranteed” date and manufacturing code 38U301414 or 48U101514

Where were the recalled chips sold?

Frito-Lay said the recalled chips were distributed to various retailers in six states as early as January 15:

  • arkansas
  • louisiana
  • mississippi
  • new mexico
  • oklahoma
  • texas

What should I do if my chip is recalled?

If you have an allergy or sensitivity to milk, do not eat potato chips and immediately discard the bag.

Consumers with affected products should contact Miss Vickie’s online or call 1-877-984-2543.
