Police warn against counterfeit car seats
Police are warning parents after finding fake child seats during a recent safety inspection. FOX 13’s Aaron Messmer reports.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has recalled more than 14,000 child seats after officials said their safety manuals contained incorrect information.
According to a recall notice from NHTSA, the recall affected “14,020” Evenflo-branded child seats, more specifically the company’s LiteMax Factory Select child seats with model number CS100111198.
NHTSA says the problem lies in the Spanish version of the seat’s safety manual, which incorrectly lists weight and height restrictions.
“Inaccurate information in the manual may result in children being improperly restrained, increasing the risk of injury in the event of an accident,” the recall notice says.
Owners are expected to receive a notice of ownership on March 31st. Evenflo will then send the correct manual in Spanish to the customer free of charge.
Evenflo car seat recall won’t be the first in 2026
This week’s recall comes nearly two months after Evenflo announced a voluntary recall of more than 74,000 car seats.
This recall affected approximately 40% of All4One child seats where the adjustable recline mechanism moves out of position when the seat is turned rearward. Affected seats were eligible for replacement until March 4th, and notices to owners were mailed starting January 26th.
The recalled seats are no longer in production. Replacement items have different designs.
