How to clean a grill without using a brush
Omit the wire brush. These safe and smart methods will clean your grill grates without damaging them.
More than 3.2 million metal wire bristle grill brushes are being recalled by Webber Inc. because the bristles can break off and end up in human food, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
The recall applies to six models, some of which have been sold in the U.S. since 2011.
The CPSC said some of the hairs can get caught on grill grates and end up in people’s food, getting into their throats and digestive tracts and causing internal injuries. The agency added that Weber was aware of at least 38 reports of hair loss, four of which required treatment.
The brushes were sold in stores and online at Lowe’s, Home Depot, Ace Hardware, Target for $10 to $17, and online at Amazon and Weber.com. Recalled products can also be found on third-party resale sites such as eBay.
“Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled grill brushes and contact Weber for a replacement cold cleaning nylon bristle grill brush,” the CPSC said. “Consumers are asked to discard recalled grill brushes.”
