Auto loan delinquencies rise to the highest level in 15 years due to growing economic stress
The rise in car payment defaults among both subprime and prime borrowers indicates increasing economic pressure on U.S. consumers.
News told by money
President Donald Trump wants to incentivize automakers to build cars in the U.S. between tariffs and tax-deductible interest rates on American-made auto loans, but none of that has fully materialized.
All cars have at least some parts sourced from overseas, but some are more “American” than others. Cars.com’s American-Made Index ranks the “most American” cars, and the brands at the top of the list have consistently topped the list for several years now. That’s Tesla.
Tesla Model 3 took the top spot in the index. Billionaire Elon Musk’s company’s products ranked first for the fourth year in a row. This list was created using five criteria: assembly location, parts content, engine manufacturer, transmission manufacturer, and U.S. manufacturing employees.
Below are the top 10 “Most American” cars according to the index.
