Ferrari previews details of new EV created with Jony Ive

Ferrari has announced the name and revealed the interior design of its first all-electric sports car ahead of its expected debut in May.

The Italian sports car manufacturer announced in a press release on Monday, February 9th that the new electric car will be named Luce. Luce means “light” or “illumination” in Italian, the company said. Ferrari said the name “represents the brand’s unwavering focus on the future and a new naming strategy for an important addition to the Ferrari range.”

Regarding the interior design of the new EV, the company said, “Every element has been deeply considered to enable functional, intuitive interaction and a thrilling driver experience.”

How much do you expect the Ferrari Luce to cost?

Ferrari has not yet announced the manufacturer’s suggested retail price for the Luce.

The car is expected to cost between $500,000 and $600,000, according to the website Carvira.com.

Who designed the Ferrari Luce?

Ferrari said it had been working with LoveFrom, the creative collective founded by Sir Jony Ive and Sir Marc Newson, for “five years on all aspects of the design of the new car”.

The company said: “The decision to co-conceive this car with LoveFrom is a deliberate expression of Ferrari’s vision for the future: a car that respects Ferrari’s legendary heritage while challenging convention and rethinking every detail, from materials and ergonomics to the interface and overall user experience.”

Mr. Ive is the former Chief Design Officer of Apple. He helped design the user interface for the company’s most popular products, including the Apple Watch, iMac, iPod, and iPhone, as well as Apple’s mobile operating system, iOS. Newson has designed furniture, luxury goods, and fine art. He once developed a concept car for Ford.
