The Los Angeles Rams quarterback was named NFL MVP at the NFL Honors Ceremony on February 5th. He defeated New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye by one first-place vote.
Stafford was named league MVP after capping off one of the best seasons of his career. The 37-year-old quarterback led the NFL with a career-high 46 touchdown passes to just eight interceptions, breaking the Rams’ franchise record. Additionally, Stafford’s 4,707 passing yards were an NFL pace.

“He’s the MVP. There’s no ifs or buts about it,” Rams running back Blake Colm told USA TODAY Sports in a recent interview. “He had an incredible season. His career was just incredible.”
This is the first regular season MVP award for Stafford in his career. This is the highest honor Mr. Stafford has received this year. He was also named to the 2025 All-Pro First Team and to the Pro Bowl.
Stafford’s MVP status adds to a resume worthy of being in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Stafford helped the Rams win Super Bowl 56, won the NFL’s Comeback Player of the Year Award in 2011, is a three-time Pro Bowler, a 2025 First-Team All-Pro, and is currently the 2025 NFL MVP.
Stafford was originally selected No. 1 overall in the 2009 NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions. He is Detroit’s all-time passing leader and holds the franchise record for passing touchdowns. Stafford was traded to the Rams in the 2021 blockbuster trade with the Lions. Stafford won a Super Bowl title as the Rams’ quarterback in his first season in Los Angeles. He also won the MVP in his fifth year in LA.
“He’s elevated everyone around him, which was really impressive,” Rams coach Sean McVay said. “But I wouldn’t say I’m surprised. This has been consistent for him in the five years we’ve been together. I’m just grateful to have had the opportunity to partner with him.”
